A decent home for everyone is a good cause, so put your money in a charity for that purpose.

You cannot use govt violence to force people to invest in a charity you personally back. That is tyranny and besides, the govt cant handle money responsibly anyhow. It would all get flushed down the toilet as usual.

I am not a leftist, in fact I am a hard core Free Market Capitalist, thats why I oppose crony capitalism and corporate welfare so strongly.

Slaves have ALWAYS been paid, room and board mostly.
They do need shelter and food in order to produce profits tomorrow after all.

Standing up agianst this quasi fascist / socialist crap is exactly what the right and left have failed to do in this nation.

If you really are a staunch supporter of Free Market Capitalism then you should realize that a corporation is but an inanimate instrument, not unlike a gun. A gun in itself does not kill people, the person who wields it does. In a similar vein, a corrupt corporation is not corrupt in itself but is instead headed by corrupt directors. Just like the anti-second amendment crowd, you are attributing malicious intent to an inanimate object.

As for slavery, it is general accepted to be "a system under which people are treated as property to be bought and sold, and are forced to work." In that corporations neither buy people nor are in any position to compel people who do not work for that corporation to work, I am not sure how you can equate paying people who choose to work for said corporation with slavery.

What is your problem - don't you even read what you post. The FDR bit that YOU quoted says nothing about the right to own a home it says "The right of every family to a decent home" (copied directly from your own post). And just what is wrong with that as an ideal to strive towards.

There is no “right to own a home” OR “right to own a decent home” so what’s your point?

Semantics!

Please practise your reading and comprehension skills before trying to write anything cogent (look it up)

So you’re criticizing my reading comprehension yet you scold me with misspelled words?

FAIL!

Care to elaborate more as to why exactly any of Roosevelt's proposals would be bad?

In fact maybe you could take each point step by step and detail to us why you think this is fundamentally evil and wrong?

Maybe the OP was written above some people's comprehension level to understand.

Here is what it means in shorten dumb downed form.

The founding fathers knew that the world owes you nothing for free. They understood socialism and why it did not work.

No one said the proposals are bad but they are a pipe dream, back then, now, and forever will be..

It is impossible to provide everything for everyone always has and always will.

I am afraid you missed my points entirely.
Corporations hired massive powerful lobbies to change the law in their favor and crush small businesses.
They control our govt in essence.

When corporations take over govt it is fascism.

Ever heard of the revolving door? Wearing many hats?

No matter if Repubs or Dems control the govt, they always put corporate welfare first.

And slavery is very real today. Indonesia, Malaysia, China, etc.
There is a reality of forced labor as food is used to starve them into capitulation just like on plantations two centuries ago.

The way you talk, corporations are unquestionable beacons of freedom, what a joke.
Even in America groups like Adecco buy and sell human resources on the modern slave block.
Those 'human resources' are treated like pure garbage, rather than dignified working humans.

There is no need to eliminate the process of corporate charters, but we do need to look into revoking many of these charters as punishment for engaging in illegal activity.

Lets eliminate the IRS so people can have more wealth available so they can personally choose what utopian charities they want to invest in.

Without the parasite sucking us dry I am sure there would be plenty of helping hands for those who are really in need.

Hell it may even eliminate starvation and homelessness to an extent.
As it is now, with our failed welfare forced taxation state, we have huge growing starvation and homelessness problems.

Ironic? Nope, its basic economics.

I'm losing track of the comparisons to what President he and his people most want to say he's like? Is it Lincoln, Roosevelt or Reagan? They'd have us believe, it seems sometimes, they are all interchangeable.

Titles are not important….intent is.

Regardless what you call it, Obama wants an entitlement society and he wants to rule it.

“The right to own a home”?? Isn’t that the kind of crap that gave us the Fanny-Freddie housing bubble fiasco?

i wish i could own a home for me and my children...
but alas i need that paper with ink on it called money, lol

WELL I'M IN!!! What was I thinking???

If it's not there I'm sure one of your heroes will propose an amendment!

Of course corporations are not inherently evil.
What is evil is greed and corruption funded by corporate profits via campaign contributions and PACs designed to create legislation to ensure more corporate profit.

It used to be said that whats good for (insert super corporation name) is good for the USA.
That is no longer the case. When our old major brands set up shop in China,India etc because of lower labor costs
and sell those goods back to the US consumer,we as Americans pay the price for that corporate profit increase.
Not at the check out counter but long term as a society.More unemployment, more under employment.

In a few years China will become a serious military threat.Which we as Americans are financing.
This is all the result of corporate greed under the fascist guise of globalization.
But when a CEO averages 380 times the average pay of his or her employees -that then is greed to excess.
In ONE year that CEO makes the career earnings of about 10 employees. From first job to retirement age.
In Europe and japan the rates are much less-20 to 40 x based on who you read.

Legislation exists, that many Corporations lobbied for, that gives them tax breaks to outsource jobs.....
FDR saw this coming. Hence his speech.
The conspiracy theorist knows its coming-from socialist globalism to fascist globalism...either one the end result is the same.
The mom n pop businesses and farms are almost dead. The mega corporate food-pharma-tech-arms-finance-media conglomerates will own it all.Yes you may own a piece of the pie via stock----but you better own enough to live off the dividends. And their is not that much stock out there.

Finally-I believe Obama, the Dems, and the GOP know what the globalization wave will create. But like FDR,Obama is trying to get a minimum level of security to the citizens of the USA.Without that socialist safety net that exists for most of Europe, when the collapse starts (and it will-the corporate elite have guaranteed that) we will be much worse off than the Europeans.

We pay taxes-when you add secret tax as I call it-401k,health insurance-our tax is not much different than many EU countries...why do we seem to get so much less bang for the buck?See corporate greed above.
When prisons become for profit businesses something has gone to far. When you have an army of mercenaries almost outnumbering your soldiers on foreign battlefields something has gone too far. When you reward companies with American tax dollars for moving overseas and leaving Americans unemployed something has gone too far.

The gov can bail out the banks to the tune of a few trillion and no one complains about that being socialism, but having the government spend money to bail out our neighbors is bad socialism ? Its obvious that the corporate media money is well spent on molding opinion.

Old enough!

as if life was about work...

It’s not about work…it’s about providing for yourself. What makes you think you are entitled to anything?

i did not incarnate on this planet at this time to be a slave...

Obviously NOT! You were incarnated to mooch off others, according to you.

Why do we need a new Bill of Rights? Is it because there are douchebags among us who can’t figure out how to prosper in a free market?

Okay, now you are making no sense. Why would an Apple care about gun control, abortion or having women in the military? If corporations really are running the country then how did the health care bill, a bill which would require corporations to pay more for health care than they currently pay, pass despite all these powerful lobbies? Is paying a dollar for an item at a Walmart rather than two dollars for the same item at a mom and pop shop really a bad thing? Is Walmart hiring hundred of workers from community any worse than a local business only using family members as employees?

And slavery is very real today. Indonesia, Malaysia, China, etc.

Again, corporations are not forcing these people to work the necessity for food is. In fact, almost all people need to work for food so I am not sure why you consider work to be slavery just because this work occurs in a third world country. As for me believing corporations as some sort of beacons of freedom I believe that my statement that corporations are nothing more than legal entities designed to facilitate ownership would contradict your assertion. The car you drive, the computer you are reading this on, the smart phone your are using, all are made affordable because of corporations. As a matter of fact, a Congressional study in 2011 found that 69 million people in America work for pass though entities. I'm not so sure corporations are the tentacles of evil you make them out to be.

maybe we can have an intelligent conversation
on FDR and Obama's imitation of a socialistic society..

come back to the thread,
come back after reading about socialistic Russia under Lenin how many millions died because of socialism, the great commune of love of Hitler and Germany.. How is that communism working for China now or did under MAO?? Talk about work, they are slave workers to make the computer your own.... When the drugs wear off remember what opium did to the chinese people, and how all these pipe dreams have failed, thanks
