When you put your mind to it the things you describe as 'fun ' are really self destructive devices. Drinking or drugging to dull the pain of life not to have a good time. You sleep or you sit and stare off into the distance. That is not living nor is it fun. Prostituting is also a hard life not a fun life. You put your life at risk every time you go to work ! Your priorities need reviewing. I am not a hard line Christian. I am not religious at all but still there are safer and better ways to have fun.

How do you know how it is? You dont. If it exists at all you couldnt possible have any idea what its like because no one comes back to tell us how it is. No one. You go by that filthy word FAITH. The word that tells normally smart people to believe in something they cannot prove. That filthy word that has ruined so many lives. All ya gotta do is believe.

What gives you the right to teach the moral standard?
Do you know the moral code?

The problem with us people, is that we try to teach others how to live their lives. God never gave you or any one else that right.

The irony in this statement is palpable. When "God" walks up to me, proves his nature, hands me a certificate stating that he is the CEO of Moral Integrity Inc, and slaps me with an ice tray filled with dozens of little universes...

Then I'll be convinced. Until then, you have no more argument than we do. Problem is, what little we do have still makes more sense than you.

God is irrelevant. Point is that nobody is going to live life by your rules because you tell them. So you may as well save your breath mate.

Seems like that's a one sided sentiment, "mate". A lot of Christians, Catholics, Mormons, etc are really interested in telling people the rules of their life. Just ask the people with the card board signs.

Why did God create us?

You answered what you thought..... and ..... Ok.

Here is my answer, in case you were asking me too.

Why did God create us?

To express and with that expressing came him knowing himself (spirit)...... by stepping outside of his self (spirit).

What a giver, huh? I think so. It is the greatest gift... otherwise we would be void and without thought.

When he stepped outside of himself there was an explosion called the Big Bang. Just as when the Atom/Adam split. There was an explosion of an intelligent species called man/humans.

We are all fragments of God getting to know our self.

Once we get to know our self we can be the judge if we are good or bad and the cycle begins again.... this is life.

Yep and just because they tell them, doesn't mean they will follow their rules. People choose if they want to follow that life. They aren't forced to it mate.

We know what happens if you try to force someone to it. Crusades is an example mate. So why not save your breath...

I like to make my opinions known, just in case someone out there is actually interested. And since I'm typing and not talking, not a single breath is wasted. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Oh to let opinions be known is quite alright with me... It's the part of taking the moral high ground thinking that you know better that's not quite welcome.

You know... Like the person who said "there are better ways to enjoy other than doing this or that". I mean better ways to who? Know what I'm saying...

If you are implying that I posted such things, then please quote the relevant selection. Otherwise, yes, I have encountered such sentiments.

I am sorry. I mean no disrespect to your beliefs but, you only quote what has been written by men, ordinary men, but men who use their version of what God has said for their own power to control and get rich.

This is true of every book of "God's Word" ever written. What annoys me the most is that God allows those who claim to speak in His name to keep speaking.

Why have not a few of the TV evangelists been fried by the odd bolt of divine lightening!

I do not see God's Word, I see slaughter in his name, I see empires built in His name, I see suffering, rape and torture of children by those who profess to serve Him. I see nothing, nothing at all, that is Goodness and Love.

P

I am sad for you if that is all you have seen.
Globally yes, there is all that you mentioned. But on a local level, I have seen devotion, sacrifice, unselfish giving and true faith. That is what Christ taught, that is what being a Christian is all about.

As for heaven: No one can imagine what God has in store for the faithful.

On a local level I see children raped and beaten by priests, brothers and Nuns while the other churchmen cover for them, move them to other parishes so they can rape more children. I see the Church doing everything possible to avoid being sued. In all of this I do not see devotion, sacrifice, unselfish giving and true faith. I see a will to preserve wealth, power and position.

When Churches are involved, it is always the Children that suffer!

We must be Gods in the flesh within this universe. God can not create different souls, if God is thee soul everything is of. God can not create different souls if Gods soul is infinite.

When we die, Gods soul returns back to from where it was given. Gods soul is; each and every one of us.

Jesus was not Gods only begotten sun. We all are.

Before the Big Bang. God already knew you and me. Because you and i were preplanned from the beginning.
The matter that have formed each and every one of us, and that will form the future life here on earth. Was already present within the Big Bang. Life will appear exactly on time.

Our life is like Gods own Puppet show.

Heaven and hell are not for good and bad people. It is for people who choose to be eternally in the presence of God and those who choose not to be.

I just wonder if the dead people are just as sad leaving their loved ones as their loved ones are loosing them? In that case Heaven is just as sad a place as earth. You still loose loved ones just in a different way.

Interesting observation. Meeting all the people that have gone before me again would be great. If I get to watch my children from heaven, might not be too bad. One has to acknowledge the cycle of life.

Frankly, if I had to accept one religious belief, I would take re-incarnation, just seems a little more real to me. Since this life sucks so much, it gives one hope that the next would be better.

Singing in the choir in Heaven is not my idea of fun, besides, with my voice I would be turfed out

The Big Bang is a theory that fits in with verse 3 in genesis. Did you know that?

Your God created all in 7 days, remember??? not some billions years ago... hypocrite!!!

Those are your words not mine. You have no right to speak on my behalf. I have never said my God created all in 7 days.

When God started his chores, there was no day and night. We didn't have day and night until God created the earth. Therefore, God's day and night may well be very different from our day and night.

Think of a cosmic day and night. They could be billions of our years long.

I would guess that the first billion years were quite bright. If all the mass out there were much much closer to each other.

I think that, on the subject of Heaven, my favorite version was the one described in The Urantia Book, about a decade ago when I believed the text. It stated that after death you woke up in another plane of existence just as you were down here: imperfect. In a nutshell, you had to work your way up and eventually, after thousands of incarnation on thousands of worlds, you achieved perfection and were as God was.

This is the type of afterlife I hope for. I don't want to be given paradise. I don't want to wake up in a mind controlled reality where my mind will be altered to enjoy the same repetitive activity over and over again. No, the Urantia Book idea at least made it where you had dignity and choices. If I had to chose a version of "heaven", that would be it.
