It's showing NEXRAD weather radar sites.
You're supposed be terrified by it.

oh.

THX.

LOL.

fuzzy videos without much explanation are a major fail, imho.

There's enough strange stuff going on . . . why folks feel compelled to pretend that the mundane is extraordinarily alarming . . . is a slightly interesting thing psychologically and sociologically . . . but probably not a lot otherwise, imho.

I wondered if they were trying to note where the strange SOUNDS from nowhere in particular were heard. LOL.

What that might have to do with quakes would probably be another leap of "logic" or something . . .

Have a good rest when you get to it, Phage.

I'm glad the worst of the craziness so far this month--and THAT'S BAD ENOUGH

is the D.C. set of idiocies.

Sigh.

Cheers.

Huh, I guess I'm late to the party, I was just coming in to post that

That is a seriously strange spot to see one in, but then again, I'm reminded of a really strong one in the Bermuda Triangle in the early 1800's, a 7-pointer, I believe it was. They do happen, but like GoM 'quakes, just not very often.

Magnitude mb 4.5
Region NORWEGIAN SEA
Date time 2013-10-08 01:39:59.0 UTC
Location 74.33 N ; 15.03 E
Depth 10 km
Distances 1600 km N of Mariehamn / pop: 10,682 / local time: 04:39:00.0 2013-10-08

490 km NW of Havøysund / pop: 1,138 / local time: 03:39:00.0 2013-10-08

This earthquake happened very north, near the Svalbard islands. For some reason, that area doesn't get much quakes. This was not very far from Bear Island, which is uninhabited.

Not that big anyway.
Heres the September data for SVALBARD from NORSAR. Here is September reviewed data for the whole Scandinavian region www.norsardata.no...
I should include NORSAR in my EQ Archives, maybe replace Iran who are making it difficult to get archived data the last 2 months.
Actually I'll do that right now.

edit;
here is a few recent months worth I just did, will add some more before dinner's ready

You know BO you only have to look at who made the video to be able to pretty much discount it as scaremongering.

Even the USGS felt compelled to dispel that persons nonsense on one occasion. He takes molehills and turns them into deep mountain fortresses. Each radar image is a HAARP ring (duh!), each earthquake is the precursor to disaster. He is so messed up I imagine he scares himself to death daily. I feel sorry for him really. It must be a burden to live with all that angst.

Hey Quake Watch Peeps!! Has anyone else wondered wth is going on in Oklahoma? Are these areas all fracking quakes or is something else going on?

Also, OK quakes are usually found here folkworm.ceri.memphis.edu... ?? Or so I thought, however they are not showing the recent ones.

There were 3 in OK yesterday with mag over 2.5.... none that I can tell any smaller.

Each day (past week or two) there seems to be quakes popping over Oklahoma and they are not in the same city.

Would the fault be NMSZ .... or different faults and not sure which is active until it cracks?

Thanks!

LOL.

I guess I should pay more attention to who makes such videos. I rarely keep track of many of that ilk.

If I don't know of the person, it needs to be something . . . how to put it . . . that clearly and more convincingly catches my attention.

You might well be right about the angst. But it depends . . . or needs Depends . . . on how much of such goings on are an idle hobby vs a paranoid or paranoid tinged. obsession.

And, the old . . . 'Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.' is also still true. LOL.

Paranoid indicates that the fears are unrealistic. There's plenty real to be concerned about in our era without embellishing or fantasizing. But concern doesn't need to become off the wall or flighty.

Thx for your reasoned replies. 'You grow on me.' LOL.

I love loving people more than I expected to.

Svalbard region 2013 to Sept 30
(click image for interactive map, opens in new tab/window)
I didn't count them all, but not as many as say Iceland or Greece, Turkey, NZ etc, in fact there are more quakes per day in NZ than an entire month in Scandanavia.
Thats just reviewed data though, seems a lot more lines in the NORSAR Preliminary data, so not sure what that is about, needs more research
( unlike USGS, MUZZY doesn't get funding to start with, so we are not shut down at the moment due to lack of funding
)

Hello! Is there anyone out there? Is the West Coast still 'standing'? Anyone? Or has EDIS made a boo boo?

Just like to know if anyone is feeling all those quakes. They appear to be laid out in an odd fashion on EDIS also.

I am not qualified to give you an answer like some of our esteemed members here. But I'd say most of those will disappear as they are sort of like 'repeat readings'.
I'm basing this on what I have seen before on that site.
Hope that helps a bit.

Thank you, Jane. I wondered as I have been watching EDIS for many a year and the first thing i thought was someone had slipped with a button. But then, they didn't change or disappear and it has been a little while now. USGS is a touch 'troubled' at the moment and I understand we took a direct hit from a solar flare that hit the magnetosphere a day sooner than expected. So, this set me off wondering which it might be.

I leave USGS to 'da boyz' on here as they seem to understand their 'troubles' and the uping and downing of quake mags.
I had no idea a flare has come in though. Do you have a link to somewhere?

Sorry for delay.

Space Weather and Suspicious Observers speak of a CME hitting the magnetosphere.

The AP index was moderately disturbed (22) but was much more disturbed on the 2nd Oct

www.ips.gov.au...#

All of the data on that site I collect and chart in my weekly geophysical reports. Below is a longer term chart that does not get published in the reports normally that shows the slow solar decline at solar max!! I still can't put my finger on a definitive link between this and earthquake incidence. I am sure there is an effect but the terms elude me.

Click on the image for the bigger picture

It looks a bit more impressive on the Boulder KP Index (I have one of these for almost every day since March 2012 and quite a few from 2010/2011 if anyone ever needs one)

They are collected at midday my time (currently UTC +1)

Posting this reminded me that I also have all the KP indices as videos so you can try and match them to earthquakes yourselves if you wish. For ease of access the are all hosted here
