now lets get things straight for all of you people out there who dont believe in ones rights.... Americans have the right to overthrow an unjust government right? Then why not give them the option to secceed? if somebody's balls are big enough that they are WILLLING to secceed then christ sakes be my guest.... as if there aint enough f*#$%d up s@$t goin on right now with the federal government with the dollar being at an all time low worth, the NDAA being enacted stripping people of their constitutional rights, especially the ones the 'bill of rights' stated, with food stamps, unemployment and SSI on the brink of smitherines, it should be up to the state to provide the necessary for the needy (maybe those who deserve it but thats another thread)... at this point, i dont think anybody cares about the possibility of their personal freedoms being invaded because of making a decision to 'Better' themselves and those around them, can you blame a guy for trying?? i say secceed all you want if you can do it the right way and protect all the women and children in your state, just make sure your state can survive economically before you go and make such a rash decision.

i can't speak for anyone but myself, but i have no reason to wish obama out. mainly because i don't see this as a presidential problem, i see it as a congressional and senate problem, i see it as a corruption problem within our legislators. i also see it as a cabinet problem and hope obama will clean some house when he gets a minute or two.

I disagree. I believe that this is neither a presidential problem nor a congressional problem.

I believe this is a problem deeply rooted in a lazy, apathetic and uninformed citizenry.

I also made a petition that everyone should have to walk backwards.

Let us know when that petition passes 100,000 signatories. Or 25,000, for that matter.

I do not think that we could "clear the Mall" of a massive with tanks running over people and shooting protesters with bullets because that would turn the people against the government. It would be a breaking point of no return and the start of the new civil war.

What no one wanting to join the New World Order?

There is no issue. There is just a superminority of sore, probably racists, losers who want to take their ball and go home

Such an awesome comment and the race card played once again

The states in the Union are NOT sovereign states. They are federated states. Which basically makes them the same as counties within a larger state. They are just a distinct level of administration.

Yes they are sovereign it makes them slaves to serve 1 master we sure do know who the party of slavery is and will always be.

Those sore winners of the election guess all those disenfranchised with the failure of the current administration just get on their knees and say yes masta, whatever you say masta.

As if.

This is getting out of hand.

If all of them succeed in secession then we might have a huge problem of civil war II.

Don't want that. Any ideas on what the solution might be than secession?

So just who decides when it is a unjust government? Remember, the person you voted for not winning does not make it a unjust government!

lol So? Children all over the U.S. pitch fits all the time. I do assume that these people will give up ALL Federal support including roads, military, FBI, FAA, Social Security, Medicare .... of course they won't. It's easy to pitch a fit at a keyboard. Oh well ... guess this gives the Freepers something to do.

Nothing that goes extinct does so quietly I suppose.

Oh come on. This happened during the Wallace era. It takes NOTHING to sign an online petition. This is meaningless. Even the GOP Leadership, both State and Fed, knows it's meaningless. For Heaven's sake more people sign petitions about who should be with whom on Glee than this idiocy.

There is no Civil War here, just the death of Conservatism.

A long read but a good one about the ratification of the Constitution...

www.etymonline.com...

One other scenario to consider. If it is true that a cabal of individuals desires to weaken the US to the point where it can be coerced into joining a world government would not the introduction of these petitions be a possible vector towards destroying the USA? Who filed these petitions? Were they all filed together? Does the individual who filed these petitions have an alterior motive? There are many things to consider.

Also, the idea of states pushing back against what hey percieve as a federal government overreaching its authority is not new. The tenth amendment group has existed for a few years.

don't however believe that the USA can be changed from the inside.

The USA has already been changed from within, by a slow and gradual Progressive agenda and promoted in the schools and Universities. Obama is just the capstone to a long and tedious train of changes including regulations on business and industry and on our personal lives. This steady but slow incremental change is called Fabian Socialism.

On paper its one thing.

Boots on the ground, its a completely different thing.

I will say this though. If ALL the states want to seceed, can't we just "fire government" instead?

Sort of like, instead of every sailor jumping off the ship or going AWOL, how about we just mutiny together against the captain instead?

That's hitting the nail on the head, Sir. We could fire all politicians currently in office by simply Recalling all of them.

Oh wait, it's only legal in 18 states. Anyone else have a good idea? I'm down for arresting any politician that has committed a crime.

The president has to give a formal response to any that have signed over 25,000, which right now I believe is Texas and one other state.

Boo Hoo, this is just the republicans crying because they aren't happy with the actions. What crappy is when poor people get stepped on no body listens. Changes need to be made, and I don't think we need ANOTHER tax break for corporate america. They need to quit thier pissing and moaning and man up to reality. With money comes responsibility. With employees comes responsibility.

Republicans have punished the fact that you can make more profit by paying your employee less, so most of them pay crappy wages. Even if its an entry level job, its still a person that needs food and shelter, utilities, car, gas, medical, clohing. They EXPECT you to have these things because they demand you show up on time for every shift, but they don't want to pay you enough money to make it possible.

Back a few years ago around 2007, we had a spike in our economy followed with a dip, people filed unemployment because it paid more than an minimum wage job, so employers cut hours so that they would no longer have to pay into that fund. People were striking in essence, and the employers fought back.

Now they are being forced to pay for our health care, and they don't want to do that either.
So I have to ask, what exactly do they want to pay for? I can't figure it out. We need to put an end to slavery and people need to be paid decent wages, and have health care, and unimployment compensatation. These are the responsibilities that go along with running a business, if you can't handle it, maybe you shouldn't be in business.

Recalling elected politicians...except that's only legal in 18 states.

I say we arrest them for crimes. Instead of wasting time and money on ballots for recalls, we could just use the Police while their on the clock.

Sound good?

This post election Secession movement is a trap. It is a pre-planned counter-dissenter, subterfuge action to draw out the anti-government elements (petition signatorees, talk show radio hosts, etc) and start a civil war to crush a states led rebellion and set up a federal system (thus nullifying state sovereigty and that of the individual). Something has to be done to restore the republic but dont fall for an obvious trap. State nullification of unconstitutional laws is a place to start but beware of calls for a new "Constitutional Convention" as well as that can be the vehicle to modify the constitution and water down individual rights. Be wary of attempts to set up state militias also as that could be the rationale for taking away guns from individuals (and placing them with the state militias like they were at Lexington before the redcoats came for them).

If people wanted a revolution or change, they should have voted for an independent in the election. Hell, they should have rallied a campaign for "Joe the Plumber" and sent a message to the two-party system that they would not let them have complete control over politics.

But they didn't do that...

Seceding is not the answer. Even in Quebec Canada where it has nearly reach a majority level, separation did not happen.

You don't destroy a country you rebuild from within. There isn't a country in the world that isn't affected by global interests today anyhow, so if you think separating and hoarding all your resources is going to work you are sadly mistaken.

"Joe-the failed Plumber" did run for a seat in the House. He was soundly defeated.

great, but what about revoking all their paycheck for 3 years? This includes any government worker, and those that work in agencies such as FBI, CIA, and the such.

Wouldn't that thin them out and show who is willing to serve regardless of the pay?

Actually, the more it spread, the more it became the very definition of a meme. Its really easy to start a petition, and it is a tiny minority of the populace who have signed those petitions. Further, even if states do have the right to secede, they then become a separate nation. Thdre is nothing which says a ceded state automatically will be considered a friendly neighbor. The other 49 states may well clamor for that state to either pay back the investments we've made in that state (I.e. Highways, schools, etc.) or be annihilated. I certainly would not want to be in an enemy state bordering the US with no military power of substance aside from handguns and rifles. It would make Gulf War I and Nicaragua look like protracted, difficult battles in comparison.

What no one wanting to join the New World Order?

No one in the world believed China could murder that whole square full of people, either. No one believed Ceauşescu would do what he did in Romania in '89. His people DID have to literally remove him by physical force and under fire. It was the notable, brutal exception to the relatively peaceful implosion of the Soviet Empire. If you'd have asked me before 2001, I never would have believed my nation would invade 2 others and carry on war time operations in 7 MORE sovereign nations just years later.

There are a great many things I've been witness to with everyone else over the years that many "did not think" could ever happen. Now I'm pointing out, the United States Government has been spending mega billions of dollars on a program/effort every year dating back decades called COG, or Continuity of Government. It's SPECIFICALLY about defeating you, as an protesting American or any OTHER Non-Government source that can challenge that establishment in more than a passing way. Protest is and will be tolerated UNTIL it has any chance of building beyond mere protest.

It'll take FAR FAR more than "people power" to defeat a thing that has specifically planned and spent more time insuring this concept is simply impossible to ever play out than it has trying to solve the issue that now lead to it. Consider that....before confidently stating ANYTHING is beyond the scope of what the Government WILL do to maintain that continuity if pushed hard enough.
