Mass shooting in Aurora, CO (At Batman Film Premiere)

Seems like the shooter(s) had drunk the party kool-aid while listening to the drug-addict talkshow host Rush Limbaugh who was frantically trying to spin a web of conspiracy concerning THE DARK KNIGHT RISES (which was written years ago with production at least a year or more ago) villain BANE and Mitt Romney's former cutthroat company of the same name. Apparently, someone might have believed Limbaugh's rants and wanted to smear the movie on opening day/night to prevent it from being enjoyed by millions for fear of violence. If this were the plan, then it will probably "backfire" on them because people who overcome their fear to do anything, even going to see a movie, are heroes themselves. And, like Batman, who has overcome his fears, people brave enough to overcome their fear have something in common with their onscreen hero. So, Limbaugh can keep popping his pills and spewing outlandish conspiracies about BANE; people will still continue to go to the movies.

Fox news just stated that entertainment stocks tanking....and said there is a possible connection....just what the news said, not me.

SO SAD. I cant explain how i feel about this, I would only hurt someone if my life or others around me were in danger. I am not the most righteous person or a saint on this thread but my heart goes out to the people that were involved and affected by this tragedy.

That's a little harsh to make this about politics and right/left talk show or TV personalities for actual cause, isn't it?

A lot of people are victims here....dead and wounded. That just seems. Well.. wrong.

But what I do know is that if we desire speculating about things, we need to use logic to determine what "is possible" and what "is not possible".

If simple logic can eliminate a suggestion, it can be discounted.
But you cannot discount something with illegitimate pseudo-logic.

I like reading people's posts on the topic and seeing the great variation in ideas/opinions, but I merely want to strive for a higher level of speculative prowess among the ATS population.
Our speculations need to be based on making sense, rather than merely throwing words together randomly and considering it legitimate.

I was watching his speech live... He said 12 shot dead, 59 injured. 12+59=71. He meant to say 71 VICTIMS, not 71 SHOT.

Watch the video, and read the quote under the video you just posted.

Aurora's Police Chief Dan Oates says at least 200 officers responded to the shooting scene at a Colorado movie theater that left 12 dead and 59 injured.

71 people were NOT shot... If you were watching this whole thing unfold like I was you would know that "71 shot" is incorrect, and a mistake. A majority of the people were only treated for tear gas inhalation and that is a direct fact from nurses and doctors in the hospitals.

I'm portraying this as a conspiracy because it reeks of Mk ULtra, go do your homework and come back and see me then. A man dressed up in riot gear opened fire with military style firearms at a midnight screening of batman, so yes, pardon me if I'm a bit apprehensive about this incident. And by the way, 'friends cousin' isn't All that convincing chief.

It's ironic how many I know who seem to have a friend or a relative either directly injured or knew someone who was.. but then I have a lot of friends and family in the Colorado area.. every time I check facebook I hear of a new story

I refuse to listen to CNN or MSNBC any more. Sorry, I can't stomach those commentators and their politics. I haven't watched them since 08 except on rare occasions.

I am VERY curious to know more about his mother because she said right away to the news that they got the right man.. she was confident that her son was the shooter from the get go.. she even assumed he was involved before his name was given.. That says something.. she knew something about her son that none of us know.. and I really want to know what that is.

I heard that in this thread, but then I saw a newsclip of her saying she was shocked, in disbelief, would never have expected this, etc.

I don't know which one is the case now? Did she really ever say she knew it was him, or was that just part of the preliminary rumors?

I'm very familiar with MK Ultra, I just don't think everything has to be a conspiracy theory .. I realize that people are capable of horrible things and I know it's human tendency to try to understand or explain something to make it easier to grasp .. Sometimes it's just not a conspiracy however, sometimes it's just the reality of life that individual people can do unspeakable things.. am I saying it's not MK Ultra? .. no I couldn't possibly say that any more than you can say it is ..

The initial thing was a statement from her to ABC news earlier in the day .. it was brief..

Oh, I'd never suggest that education works out mental instability. I just don't see how someone dealing with mental problems at the same time as everything else required in getting through college would make it for as many years as his progress represents. That's a lot of work....many many semesters of finals and other kinds of stress, particularly in the direction they are reporting HE was going. Neuro-anything gives me a headache in academic terms. ugh.

So.. It does make me wonder. I'll be real interested to hear the details of how and why he left the school recently. Dropped? or was dropped? I wonder if he just snapped without warning? These cold blooded ones are always such a mystery to me.. I just don't get evil, I guess.
