I don't think it's unusual. They have teams of people pumping these brain farts out 24/7, I doubt that the President or Romney turned to someone and said "release this statement".

These people couldn't care less what happens in a town or city somewhere, all they care about is their image, the votes and how to "play" absolutely everything.

I'm guessing the shooter wanted a LIVE show, so he brought his gun to play, also expecting for Batman to show-up, big disappointment, reality will kick on in about a week.

From the reports coming in this seems to have been a well-coordinated attack with multiple shooters, who reportedly used tear gas before opening fire. This strongly suggests the shooters have an understanding of certain military tactics. I'd be very appreciative if any members with military experience could offer their take on it -- especially Marines and those who served in other units where they would have been trained in how best to make surprise attacks.

Unfortunately these days "training" could just be playing Halo or Call of Duty non-stop. Dressing up in all black, wearing body armour and a gas mask and tossing a tear gas grenade and walking into a crowd with a shotgun takes a special kind of sicko, but it does not take any special training. I know when we used play Halo, everyone loves using the shotgun up close, and everyone loves to toss a grenade into a room before they run in and start shooting. The strategy for these types of things is taught in video games from age 5 on up.

For those making this about guns or anti-guns, I'm with you. I never go to any crowded place without carrying my gun. I've never needed it so far in 20 years, but I've always got it. There is no excuse for shooting 50 plus people, without getting some returned fire. NOW, they say he was apparently wearing body armor, so maybe some people were armed and just couldn't stop him. That is a possibility. In that case, another thought comes to mind..... TACKLE HIS ASS! Just like before 9/11 we were taught to comply with a hijacker, whereas now we are taught to fight back. With these shooting rampages, instead of letting 50 people get shot, 3 or 4 could tackle his ass, take his gun, and shove a dam teargas grenade down his throat. Maybe a couple get shot in the process, but not 50. We seem to be turning into a nation of victims. FIGHT BACK PEOPLE.

What a tragedy, so sad. My heart goes out to all the victims in this senseless shooting.

Warner Brothers has canceled the Batman premiere in Paris and are contemplating canceling other premieres.

I have a unique perspective of moving from one of the strictest gun control states to one of the loosest.

The people in the CCW state are very serious about their rights to gun ownership. And many take classes above and beyond what is required, in fact, additional training is a pretty big business.

There is far more crime and death in the gun control state, and has one of the worst violent crime cities in the US.

If the coward, went into a place where people were allowed their weapons, that would of been a 2 second gun fight.

Also if he was a soldier with PTSD that will have repercussions too. It will no longer be the verterens just suffering in silence, the effects of the wars have come into peoples towns and lives. I think that could anger alot of people.

Also read that the mother told ABC News that they had the right person. She apparently knew or had an inkling.

Such a shame.

I'll try my best to direct quote an exchange on Fire Dept channel two minutes ago between Fire officer on scene (at apt bldg) and Fire Chief.

"Chief, just to be pro-active, when the shift change comes on, we're going to need hazmat out here."

"Okay, copy. I'll get onto that."

So, it seems there are definitely hazardous materials at the scene (the perp's apartment).

This is a separate matter from using Police biohazard teams to clean blood from police cars. This is full-on hazmat so the dangerous materials could cover a wide range.

You make some really good points....and I actually do think...keeping him alive will be more of a punishment for him. I was upset about the 3 month old baby...and my emotions took over.

I just don't understand why a 3 month old baby and really young kids were at a midnight Batman movie? Those parents are probably in agony over that decision.

How long before some idiot politicians blames the guns used and pathetically attempts to use this as justification for more "common sense and responsible" gun control legislation?

I'm guessing about 24 hours. Undoubtedly, the phrase "for the children" will be used at least 5 times

Interesting to note that in 7 days we're to sign that UN "Ban the Gun" treaty. Things that make you go "hmmm".
