witness says he was very muscluar and about 6-6.3 feet tall...couldnt tell race due to gasmask and covered head to toe..

I watched the over head helicopter video of the white sedan that is alleged to be James Holmes car, and it had Colorado plates 119 ROC.

i read on YT comments that the perp discussed doing this in advance on some website...

The 9gag rumor is real you guys. I was told by a 9gag user about 30 minutes ago that the guys user name was JamesHolmes154, and the media just released his name "James Holmes" minutes ago. This is a real thing that needs to be looked into.

also, BTW....colorado is a CCW state....we can all be armed.....so in that theater, nobody was armed and took him out....too bad....

You make some really good points....and I actually do think...keeping him alive will be more of a punishment for him. I was upset about the 3 month old baby...and my emotions took over.

That theater, at least the corporate body of that theater, has a no weapons policy.

Lawful carriers would have been asked to leave if found out they were carrying.

I hate to make you un-like me, dude, but I got to admit, for the most part I think guns for self-defense is a very good idea.

The thing is, though, in this situation I can't possibly see how armed citizens would've helped. Not only was it dark, but there was tear gas, gunfire, screams, plus an action movie running on one end of the wall, not only distracting you and giving the room a flickering light which is probably even more difficult to see in than complete darkness, but also increasing the noise level.

I've seen several instances in the US where self defense against a gunman worked, but my main point is how you suggested - that in situations like this it would be pointless.

If a guy walks into a gas station and tries to rob the person behind the counter, a gun would be handy. But in an event like this is would be pointless.

Then there's the probability of actually being involved in a situation where you would need to defend yourself against an armed attacker. The vast majority of Americans never experience that, so does owning a gun really matter when it comes to self defense?

If we had the same laws in the UK, I would own a gun, but it would be in my home, not strapped to my hip when I'm out shopping or going to the cinema. I am far more likely to need a gun defending my home in the middle of the night than I am likely to find myself in a shoot-out in public.

In my view the probabilities of either are clear. Home invasion is the greater risk, the chances of needing to defend myself using a gun in public are probably lower than my chances of winning the Lotto twice in a lifetime.

Just heard on Fire Dept channel:
"All units, remember, if this thing does go, to remain defensive due to all the stuff in this building."

This is in ref to the perp's apartment and efforts to access it, with the knowledge that perp told LE that he has explosives in it.

Also, a little earlier (~ 15 mins ago) one engine unit ordered to run out their 5-inch (hose) and charge it and position it near front door of apartment complex. Unit and crew to then stay around corner for now. Also told to run out their 2-1/2 inch hose for the "cherry" (meaning to be used up on a c/picker to send water in through an upper floor window) and told to be ready to send water through front door.

This is so sad, a terrible thing to happen to all those that just went out for the evening for a bit of fun. Thoughts and prayers are with their families.

That said, as has been suggested in previous posts, I am calling false flag. Every time there's is talk of changing gun law, something like this happens. A terrible loss of life for sure.

I am from the UK, I have worked with and around firearms a lot in the past, I would like the opportunity and right to bare arms but I know that will never happen. Guns are only deadly in the hand of a loon, it's not the guns that kill, its the person holding it blar blar blar...

Will see how this pans out, but expect gun law changes to be rushed through any time soon, and you will have little to no say in it. Expect more of the same until the president you have voted in gets what he wants, and that is to disarm you, the American people.

More guns leads to more crime? There are many places in Europe that would beg to differ. There are higher crime rates in many European towns and cities than in America, despite the limited number of guns by comparison.

Your claims make sense and you can't even spell.

Please yanky, don't tell me about what I can and can't do in my own country. There are over 2 million legally held guns in the united kingdom, and god knows how many illegal guns.

Getting a gun is not some great task. If you know the right avenues you can get a gun. It's not much more difficult than finding someone who deals hard drugs. I've known several people who've had guns illegally.

You're embarrassing yourself. It's one thing to have an opinion, it's another thing to deny that guns are readily available in places like England. I suppose we'll just pretend Raol Moat didn't happen, and some nutter the other week didn't kill a police officer for no reason

He said he was going to walk in and try to take as much lifes as possible. The whole 9gag community egged him on and give him tips on what to wear, etc. They give him tips on sharp-shooting and sent him messages on how to take as much lifes as possible. 9gag is a sick site and needs to be destroyed.

Unfortunately this is happening more and more as babysitters have gotten insanely expensive.

Same reason you see kids touted around Vegas. Might as well take them to Mardi Gras while your at it.

I am a single parent, I accept I am a parent and can't go to a movie when I don't have a babysitter, but some parents seem to think they are owed a nightlife.
