I watched the over head helicopter video of the white sedan that is alleged to be James Holmes car, and it had Colorado plates 119 ROC.

I suppose there's a very small chance he doesn't have a facebook account.

The incident is one of the worst mass shootings in the United States since 32 people were killed in 2007 on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, Va. In 1999, 13 people were killed in the Columbine High School massacre that happened about 25 miles southwest of Friday morning’s attack.

The guy's probably bummed he didn't susrpass the number of Columbine killings yet----as this to me seems like a copycat type of event.

Since when do presidents, or presidential candidates, comment on every criminal act that occurs?

I know it's a BIG crime, but is it really necessary for our president to respond immediately?

Are there historic reference to responding to these things by other presidents? Why?

If any can answer these questions, I'd be thankful.

Agreed: the James Holmes that I'm seeing on FB cannot be the same one, although it says Aurora, CO. He does not meet the description, and he's too young. Wasn't the shooter born in 1987? This one graduated HS in 2000, so that would have made him 13.

but there was only one match...

i found who you are looking at as well and it's not him...if he graduated highschool in the year 2000...he would have to be in his 30's...i'm doubting he has a facebook...

I don't even understand what your response means. As far as I know there are no facts that invalidate what I've said.

I really hope that the young man that did all of this destruction and violence is shown no mercy...he does not deserve any.

I know that many of you don't believe in the death penalty...and you and I can agree to disagree on this one.

What does the death penalty do?

The guy would have known that the chances of him being shot were high, so that tells you that he doesn't really care for his own life anyway. I would much rather he killed himself in his room if life was so terrible, but he chose to do this instead knowing that he could have been killed.

Why give him that?

He should be locked in a room and studied. Killing him won't help psychologists work out how his brain functions, whether there is anything different about him, or how he views the world.

Maybe if we took all the money wasted on the death penalty in various states and spent that on criminal psychology research focusing on people who commit acts of terrorism like this we could learn how to spot the symptoms of this mental state and perhaps prevent others from reaching this point?

It could be something as simple as him not being listened to, not having friends and family or believing something that could have been dismissed through logical conversation.

Killing people through death penalty does nothing but satiate the desire for vengeance. It helps no one.

yes. but i dont know if its him....
witness says he was very muscluar and about 6-6.3 feet tall...couldnt tell race due to gasmask and covered head to toe..

I will definitely NOT do as you suggest. I am not in a position of authority to do any such thing.

However...I do think you have a very good point...putting him in prison for life...where everyday his has to live with what he has done...may be more of a punishment than the death penalty.

It's only necessary if you plan to capitalize from it in some way.

Either to get the public to make an emotional connection between you and the incident or to use the emotionally fragile state of so many to plant the seed for some political agenda.

You have to move fast to get the most out of the weakened state of the people. Before they have time to regroup.

It's the brainwashing equivalent to "shock and awe."
