I agree smokers pay a lot in taxes but I think the case could be made that their healthcare cost exponentially more over the long run than what they pay in. I also, again, am libertarian, not conservative. If they want to smoke themselves to death, let them. I just don't want to pay for it one way or the other, if not through government taxes then in health insurance premiums where I'm stuck with the bill for them.

I haven't missed anything with outsourcing and if you reread what I wrote, I made a point of saying the great majority of people who lose their jobs do not lose them through any fault of their own. They get unemployment insurance and I'm totally okay with that.

I too am against the wars and would cut military spending by bringing the military home and using them to protect our borders here. I generally agree with most of Ron Paul's foreign policy statements of peace through fair trade NOT free trade where we get constantly screwed by import tariffs and currency manipulation from the people we trade with.

However, I have met many people abusing and defrauding the system in my years. Nice enough people to be around but they see the opportunity to get something for free or for a reduced rate and they take advantage of it. The bigger a social program, the harder it is to weed out which is why charity is best left at the local level whenever possible. Affordable housing is the most perfect example. You can't make over X amount of money to get a place. A hairdresser comes in and shows receipts from clients showing she makes under X amount of money to qualify. She set her Coach purse and cell phone on my desk with her manicured hands while filling out the paperwork. Sure she claimed every tip her clients gave her on her tax returns and has no side business at all. Or another guy who comes in, nice middle eastern man, very polite and gracious. He works part time and receives social security disability. He leaves the office driving a brand new at the time 2008 white cadillac. When he moves in you've never seen so much marble and granite and mahogany in your life. But of course he has no money stored anywhere else the gov't doesn't know about. I could go on and on with examples of fraud and abuse. These programs are nice ideas but the gov't sucks at implementing them without creating dependence and abuse. We should do away with all federal and state taxes and move to a fair tax so nobody can hide their money and everybody pays for programs we have.

And you're right, it is none of my business if someone overeats or has sex UNLESS they ask me to pay for their healthcare or to feed their baby. I have to pay $5,000 to have a baby this year but someone on assistance can get medicaid and have a baby for FREE! Feed it for FREE! Diaper it for FREE! How is that right by any stretch??? I'm not rich. My furniture is 13 years old. I buy my clothes and my kids clothes used. I drive used cars. I live in a townhome. But it's okay with you if someone who is already on assistance gets pregnant and expects people like me to pay for it. Makes me sick.

And I don't agree with the bailouts and would hold every executive of the banks personally liable for the economic destruction they allowed to happen but then you would have to hold every government official responsible as well. It was Barney Frank and other liberals who pushed giving out cheap loans to people who did not meet lending standards. It was the Repubs who repealed Glass-Steagall and let Goldman Sachs bet on the back end that the loans would fail so they could make even more money than the loans already made them.

If this is a battle of wits, I think you need to check your ammo supply.

The majority of the people that you refer too as sitting in the AC being lazy and screwing off all day are either union or government employees.

Yes, I'm in an office all day, but, if I don't do the design work on our products, the people on the floor have nothing to make and we all are unemployed. If the people in Sales who are in the office, don't do their job, we don't sell anything and we are all unemployed. If the people in Purchasing, who are also in the office, don't buy the materials we need, we are all unemployed. I can go on and on here. As far as some fat cat taking all of the profits, the company I work for is employee owned.

By the way, the SKILLED people on the floor make as much, if more, than the people in the office.

You can go back to reading your copy of Mao's "Little Red Book" now.

Tariffs and Excise Taxes. And cut spending, and scrub the criminal "Federal" Reserve, give the power of printing money back to congress. Then if they don't do what's in the country's best interest at least it will be out in the open unlike the secretive system of bailouts and giveaways in the trillions that they are doing now.

20% of our tax money is reinvested into this country, the other 80%? Goes to the bankers. Enjoy tyranny.

I remember a small window of legitimacy early on in the Tea party movement, (I think it was a thursday) then all the same old Republican hacks took it over and I stopped taking it seriously.

Once you pay your taxes, the money is no longer yours. The only voice you have concerning how tax money is spent is by voting.

This thread is about a phoney "grass roots" movement. By there actions they have proven to be pro wealth and corporations and big government. This group threw a ton of money towards defeating a tax increase that would benefit a successful library. The opposition came up with a genius plan to get the tax passed and they were successful.

And now look at the many different ways they want you to look. They want you to look everywhere other than what happened.

Tell me, why should I pay more taxes?

What about all of those people living it up on the government benny's? All the while paying little, or in most cases, no taxes? Many of them are making more money from government benifits then I do. But I'm working, hard, for my money.
Explain that for me, please? How does that even out?

Property taxes SHOULDN'T exist. They shouldn't exist because even after you have paid off for what is supposed to be your property, whatever it is, it could be a house or land, you still have to pay the government yearly taxes to keep that property.

But the fact that these taxes exist, and you have to keep paying them for the rest of your life makes private property the property of banks, and not the property of people, because if you don't or can't pay one year these taxes the bank will take away what is supposed to be your property...
