With the massive defense cuts the shrinking of the Marines and Army any ground war is suicide the latest budget that came out today is proof that it is not going to happen.

I think a big enough war would actually help Obama get reelected. It might be the psychological aspect of having the same person finish what they started.

Oh common, the straight at its narrowest point is 35 miles. They would have to sink a lot of ships and If you think the U.S. Navy wont sink the entire Iranian navy after the first ship is sunk by them your not thinking correct. The days of warning Iran are over, I guess they didn't learn their lesson from Operation Praying Mantis.

Let me see U.S. Navy Virgina or Sea-wolf class sub verses 1950's Russian clunker sub. I would use one Sea-wolf class sub and take out the entire Iranian Navy and that is an absolute fact.

No it's narrow point is less than 5 miles and you have to steer to the deep areas to get thru with our ships. FACT.

That's extremely retarded to have a sniper involved in hearts and minds missions. That is not what they are trained to do, and that is painting him as a target. I'm sorry to hear that. IMO the military should critically rethink the command structure.

ANYWAY, it's good to know the extent of our defense systems. I had no idea of space based detectors for things like that. I have no doubt in my mind the capability the US has to neutralize threats.

APO....I am "Civilian" but I work in the field on occasion. My buddies kid came home on leave last year. We all went to the local Fish and Game and ALL of us....concerned adults....I grew up with friends including myself who all hunted....we all became MOTHER HENS and set up targets and drilled this poor but good kid for days of his leave! LOL! We all loved him and he was as good hearted as a person can get.

I remember how we are all at the Fish...telling this SNIPER how to do his job better! LOL! Drinking Beers and even his Mom who shoots...was yelling....move your elbow out! LOL! We all broke into laughter! We wanted him to come home alive and be the best he could be.

As far as what I am...I cannot tell you specifics other than I am not Military....but I work with them and others that do jobs that need to be done...and every time...the job is different. I don't have to do this anymore as I am older but the few times I said no...I couldn't stand being in my own skin. I felt like I had abandoned people. So rather than feel miserable for 30 to 60 days...I just go...but it is much less seldom. Split Infinity

Just one thing you must remember they (Iran) has very limited refining facilities. They have to have refined products shipped in, i.e. straits of Hormuz. Need I say more?
People on ATS should really look at the big picture.

LOOK INTO BAHRAIN....the US or anyone (except the GCC coalition) helped there.

We have been at war for the past decade people have had enough of it and it would not help the guy who said he would stop it when he hasn't.

Well for example look at what happened with Bush after he started a war.

I'm not for Obama as president by any means, so don't get me wrong here. I sure as hell didn't vote for the guy. I chose not to vote at all, actually. It was a lose lose situation.

Obama has started a lot of wars during his tenure troops in Uganda,Somalia,Yemen,Libya and Pakistan for a guy who just cut the hell out of the defense budget Iran will not happen.

At least til after the election further proof of this is the loss of the drone when he had 3 options to go get it or destroy it and he chose to do nothing.

Past Us History between the Us and Iran came to actual bullets flying and shooting at each other and it never came to full war.

People keep making mountains out of sinkholes around here.

Sure, it doesn't launch a war, but it butters them up and prepares them for one. If one does happen, they'll have the reasons programmed into their minds already.

Believe me, I steer clear of that baseless war propaganda, but that's not the case for many others.

There are many examples in the Old Testament where the good in Israel suffered along with the bad.

The Babylonian captivity is but one example.

God has promised to be with us and never forsake us even in the midst of suffering.

There's not a Scripture in the whole of the Bible that indicates God is committed to insuring that Christians will not suffer. Actually, there are several Scriptures to the opposite.

CREATOR GOD HIMSELF declared that this era would be worse than the world has EVER known and worse than it would EVER know again.

It appears to me that the troops being deployed in Israel toward the war with Iran fit quite well into the basic outline of Biblical Prophecy reagrding such wars in the END TIMES.

Certainly in Israel and in the USA there will be people of good heart and even authentic Christians who will graduate from this life due to such conflicts.

God has it all well in hand and will be exceedingly just as well as exceedingly merciful regardless.

HOW HE manages all that is HIS TURF. And He does everything perfectly.

It's good to see you're informed. However, the unfortunate thing is the majority of people in this country with voting rights most likely have no idea about these wars because they are not covered by the MSM.

Most everything he does is "under the radar"

You can already see how Obama, along with the MSM, is making Iran out to be worse than what they are. This is making more people scream their war cries. If Obama is not reelected, I bet you it will be Mitt Romney to pick up right where Obama left off. The MSM is already shoving Romney in our faces. This assumes the reduction is not countered with the open deployment of advanced weapons, like lasers, exeoskeletal armor, assistive healing underarmor, etc etc etc etc.
