The US military is preparing a massive military campaign against Iran, sending thousands of American troops, warships and weaponry to Israel.


An unnamed source said the military deployment of US anti-missile ships and accompanying support personnel will occur in January and later this spring, Global Research reported.

Commander of the US Third Air Force based in Germany Lt.-Gen Frank Gorenc said it is not just an "exercise," but a "deployment," The Jerusalem Post said.

Good luck with getting some flags. I posted virtually the same story last night and got hardly any.

I do however, think that all this timing is very strabge don't you?

To many troops on all sides hanging out in the area means mistakes will surely happen . They won't be having a mere snowball fight .

Israel may say that they can go this alone but the US knows that if they don't have their noses in there, they don't get to the payday.

Well, from the looks of it the US military is sending thousands of troops and high tech equipment to Israel for some missile drills but does that mean its war? I wouldn't be so hasty. Is the west gearing up for a possible war with Iran? Absolutely, they're blood drunk but at the moment both Iran and the west are just flexing their muscles.

I'm skeptical, but you never do know what is going to happen. We'll find out in a few weeks I guess.

If this was true why would they mass in Israel within range of Iran's missiles / Hezbollah's rockets?

Exactly what purpose do US forces in Israel serve in a war with Iran? It is not as if Israel has any kind of a border with Iran. Even if Iran were to lob some missiles, the presence of US forces can only mean US casualities.

If this is a deployment, it can mean one of two things.

1. US expects some soon to be taken decision to have a severe backlash in Israel and is deploying its forces to secure US persons in Israel. This is unlikely, but not impossible.

2. US is actually setting up these forces to be attacked and die, so as to invent an excuse for US directly attacking Iran. This, of course, could happen in one of several ways. Hezbolla or Hamas lobs some missiles into Israel and a couple of US soldiers die. Since they are "linked" to Iran, US declares war against Iran. But this sounds silly, although not beyond the US and Americans. The likely possibility is that Israel attacks Iran's nuclear installations, Iran retaliates with missiles into Israel, a few US troops die and US declares a war against Iran.

ETA: I just read the complete news item and apparently they are deploying missiles in Israel, so yes, they could be for the purpose of launching attacks on Iran without even a pretext of being attacked first. This could be plan B, should they believe the navy might sustain unacceptable losses in an attack against Iran. The plan might be to simply shower missiles against Iran from Israel and in the worst case scenario Iran will retaliate against Israel, which risk always existed.

I know the headline is taken directly from the article, but there isn't any support for anything other than "US deploys troops in Israel."

My guess is that it's a tit-for-tat for Iran's recent naval exercise and threat to close down the Straits.
