I was born and bred in SOCA.

Someone is feeding you some sensationalism.

Maybe, but I was with him on his first Florida stop, and he was thrilled that the cops were so nice and polite. He couldn't believe it. He was visibly shaken by the whole event.

He was a white kid, with a nice black mustang, and he lived in an Armenian neighborhood. His best friend lived in some hud housing in a black neighborhood. They were constantly harrassed going back and forth between their homes. Both went on to college, played football, and ended up with advanced degrees and living here by me. I'm sure experiences vary, LOL!

Well, down there in Florida, you got all the old snowbirds driving 10mph.
It is a lot more lax down there.
Out there you got all those gangs and stuff going on.
Here,in the middle where they let you drive 15 miles over the speed limit and the cops pass you,let you go at least a year with out renewing your cars registration,it's pretty lax here, too.

My Mrs is one of them that wouldn't agree with it, and honestly i don't agree with beating a child but children need structure discipline and above all consistancy.
But guess who is the one who gets answered back and argued with in my house, yup the one who says one thing and then gives in when the kids go on and on until they get what they want.

p.s. I would be peeved if my kids got hog tied at school though.

Sounds like inner-city. Every state has isolated "hot spots".

You gonna tell me Florida doesn't have any "hot spots"?

LOL!

My city was just voted 8th most dangerous in US.
For the same year, it was also voted #1 most livable. I have a thread on it.

To be honest, Tallahassee doesn't have any hot spots, Jacksonville's are pretty limited, and I'm not familiar enough with Orlando or Miami. I think in Miami the cops just don't go into "little Havana." They police their own.

ETA:
My thread, 8th Most Dangerous also Most Livable?

And my conclusion was, Too Much Law Enforcement in my city. It isn't dangerous, but we have more than a dozen different entities scrambling to justify their existence here. So, they are filing charges left and right, and it skews the statistics. Just my humble opinion. The LEOs here are great, there are just too dam many of them. Tonight as I drive home from this job, I will pass a dozen cars or so, and half of them will be cops.

In your case, the ADHD was more severe than in mine.

This kid in the vid was failed by the parents and the schools.

Oh - - I would have gone to school with my kid if needed.

I was lucky. Besides having an amazing pediatrician. A newly developed program for ADHD was placed in one grade school - one middle school - and one high school - - in the entire state of CA.

Her's was the grade school chosen.

It was very hard on me. I was lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom at the time. I can't even imagine if I'd been a working mom (don't know if this woman is). Not every parent is capable of coping with an extreme child.

He never had any major issues. He said its a different world/culture - - - but you respect them and they'll respect you.

If you (not you) have children then get your s#it together and spend time helping them become good people while they are young.
I

My son is diagnosed with autism and acts out more then he should and is hyperactive. But he doesn't know any other way sometimes. When he can't express himself with words or gestures he often times gets upset. Should he deserve to be handcuffed and taken to a mental evaluation place because he sometimes can't control the way his brain functions?

I had a lady tell me the other day to "Control my child" as he was acting out in the store and started to cry when I scolded him for something he did. Had I not had a great day prior to this I would probably be sitting in jail for battery or assault and that lady might just be in a hospital with a broken face.

Anyways the point i'm trying to make is sometimes no matter what the parent does/how they raise their kid. Kids are individuals and if they have a disorder of some type it can't always be as simple as scolding them or "Making them act in line". If they have a form of autism its worse, because simply telling them to stop or something often times overloads the brain and they cannot compute the information they are getting. Furthermore, they are trying to process everything else that is going on around them. Its like giving linux commands to a windows PC, then getting mad at the PC because the command didn't work.

I am quick to admit that is very difficult for the parents of special needs children.
It is a huge strain on them.
There is always help out there.

In this child's case,in the vid, they refused him help because it would cost to much.
So,they thought they would call a police officer in to scare him.
Didn't go as planned ,did it.

Unacceptable behavior, period.
We cannot allow this sort of thing to happen.
It's not okay.

Apart from psychopaths in government the biggest problem in society today is kids do not get taught respect like I got taught 35 years ago.

Some cases may actually be ADHD, but I think most are parents passing the buck because they failed as parents.

A child being disciplined by his parents is a FAR cry from being hog tied, arrested, and taken to a psych ward.

If I was that kid's parent I would sue the pants off of the school district and the police department. Kudos to you by the way for helping your child without the use for drugs. My and my wife are trying to go that way with a special (Gluten/casein free diet) and some other natural remedies along with 20-25 hours a week of occupational training and speech therapy.

Most of those drugs cause more then they help. We already pump tons of crap into them from conception, these precious little ones don't need to be even more poisoned from bigpharm and the like.

Off topic:Can anyone tell me why the top of the post is in syntax form and not in a link to the person I replied too?
Figured it out, didnt have the ] on the other side of [url=]. Shouldn't that already be there?

I guess with the way cops are now day his mother is lucky the cop did not empty his 9MM in the kid. Or called in the SWAT Team. I have lost all use for a cop.

I'm ADHD extreme and if you detain me we get real ancy real quick and this is no way to handle an ADHD kid. You sit down with them to find out what's good.

Regardless, if a cop put his hand on mine I too would be very
uncomfortable. The kid was justified in pushing his hand away.
Seems that physical touching by strangers set this child off.
This is NORMAL. Strangers expecting to touch others people's
kids without a them reacting in NOT normal.
The scary thing is, here in Canada the institution wants 2yr. olds
to be in full day school now.

For the gov. to program 2yr. olds before parents can influence them
sounds allot like Stalin's kibbutz schools for kids.
Another good reason to support home schooling.
