I have trouble to get on their server for weeks now, don't know what seems to be the problem.
Good to know you can access it.

But from my other sources i have no missing data.

From IMSAL the data from 23 October 24 October it's missing also the pics the goes class,other sources don't get it so accurate so could be adulterated but from what I observed in time the only reason to to cover this is the no prediction to a unexpected sun!!!They don't know what is coming because they don"t know just what it slam the sun!!

On the SDO ftp server, the map from oct 24 and oct 26 is missing from their archive.

The data on Soho is available though.
Also on the iswa website i can get the data from 23 october from all wavelenghts.

If all the power was knocked out would that also not be an opportunity for a new beginning? Would it not stop the wars, and make people of all nations rely on themselves and each other in a way that has not happened yet? Create new markets for development to bring jobs and scientists to make newer less obsolete power grids and the people to build it? Yes people will die, people die everyday, a situation like this can be used to our advantage as tragic as it may be for those that cannot let go of the life they live now. I don't want this scenario to be a reality but if it is it can be used for good.

sorry but they shut down the satellites when there is a solar flare and we have had them before. we are still here are we not. yes it could knock out the power but that would only be temporary. do you people really wish this stuff to happen? i hope not i look at the sun and think AURORA BOREALIS warmth and so on so forth. it's just anything that comes up someone freak's out and thinks it's the end. we need to be more calm and realistic. peace out.......

For those saying that the sunspot activity will be down compared to a past date, your arguing the “number” of sunspots. The number of sunspots is comparable to saying, there was 100 BB guns in 2005 pointing at the earth. Well in 2011 we have 1 88mm cannon pointing at earth. This would suck as Winter is approaching, many people would lose jobs, heat, have no access to money so we couldn't buy anything, we would all die off actually. A slow death, so I don't think this would be neat at all.

Seems the active sunspot region has awakened. The one minute Xray plot from SWPC is currently showing an M 1.0 even and rising. How delightful, I'll keep an eye on that curve. Considering the main theme of global doom due to a massive solar storm, the event would have to be truly massive to be global. Above X 25 I would think, Deity forbid we loose power for an extended period of time. The Solar Shield project seems not to have any information available after the 2010 reports. But it seems they are sticking to it, even in Russia. Though I've heard somewhere our rather old power network is made to withstand an EMP, not sure how strong though.

I would argue that there is no point to making end of the world type threads. For example, tomorrow is the end of the world because of scenario X. Well, what exactly are you going to do about it? There is nothing you can do. The major downside to our human mindset is that we thrive on fear and excitement. I hope this changes through evolution over time. It invites charlatans and wastes the precious time of our incredibly short lives.

Unless you had the technology or resources to survive such a cataclysmic event then please keep it to yourself. How many of these doomsday threads do we have to put up with? I'm calling for an evolution in consciousness right here, right now on this site. An end to fear mongering and baseless conclusions lacking credible sources and data. I hope in the future the Mods provide an option to vote for a block of accounts that continue to post wasteful threads like this one.

Fortunately I live in Tennessee, surrounded by woods, have a few guns, have a fireplace, ww 2 swiss army 100% wool coats and a family to snuggle up to.

ATS is like 80% doomsday threads now, at first it was kinda interesting to see a new one everyday, now its getting kinda old.

....and just like this woman says here, there will be many threats leading up to the last one that will be used to install the NWO. Russia (cold war), Terrorists, Rogue Nations that will be used as a threat (Libya,Venezuela, Iraq, Iran,Syria,etc) ASTROIDS and meteors, and the last one will be the Extra Terrestrial threat (which we have all been conditioned to fear and believe in since 1947).

Wouldn't it be just sweet if TPTB went into their underground bunkers, sealed them, and then we had a Carrington like event that wipes out electricity and they can't open the doors to get out!

Well, the first question should be " Have the magnetic poles on the sun flipped yet?"

When that happens we will be 20 times more vulnerable to direct hits. Listen when she says

Well, the solution seems obvious to me.
We need to build a brand new space station.

Lets call it the Carrington Space Station.

Position it about 400,000 miles from Earth and facing the sun.
When a CME comes our way, raise the shields and create a firewall to shield the Earth
AND the magnetosphere.

Hopefully, Majestic 12 has already done it!!!

While the Sun's magnetic field does reverse every 11 years or so, they are talking about the magnetic alignment of the IMF, the interplanetary magnetic field which is carried by the solar wind and CMEs. The orientation of the IMF doesn't depend a much on the orientation of the Sun itself, we can and do see it fluctuate from a northward to southward configuration all the time. This can be seen in the Bz component of the solar wind, most easily here:

During the geomagnetic activity which occurred on October 25th we saw strong fluctuations in both directions.

Also...it was not said that we are "20 times more vulnerable" with a north orientation. It was said that 20 times more solar wind particles become trapped by the magnetosphere.

I think its important to understand two things about this suggestion.

First of all , the scale of the area a hypothetical augmentation to the magnetic shielding of the Earth would have to cover. You are talking about covering a spheroid area much larger than our planet. The power requirements of such a system would be outrageous, and I doubt that lofting enough of ANY fuel to run such a device, into any manner of orbit, would be viable in terms of cost and our current understanding of physics. That comes before even thinking about the size of whatever device would be running this effect, and the weight of any mechanism by which it might be achieved.

Second, you have to consider the forces that would be arrayed against such a shield. The fact is that the most powerful shield we could deploy at this stage of our scientific evolution, is going to be many times weaker than the natural resource of the magnetosphere. If the activity of the Sun becomes extreme enough to overload the pre existing shield that we have now, then our capability to deflect it using our engineering skills will be overwhelmed before we even had to switch the device on.

Its true that for some time, space exploration organisations, and physicists have been looking into the idea of shielding ships and satellites with systems which mimic the action of the magnetosphere. However, this technology is in its infancy , and has not even been tested in space yet. When it IS tested in space, it will likely be placed on a vehicle specifically launched for the purpose of testing it, since it may have unpredictable effects on any systems or experiments which might also be placed upon the vehicle.

Currently we do not possess the technology to perform a shielding action of this magnitude.

I can't stop the sun from raging, and knocking out our grids.

So I will not worry about that, since I cannot control it.

i can control the fact that I have a water and food supply that will last me for months. I have firearms and ammo for those that want to feel what its like to be on the receiving end of a double tap to their center mass. I have first aid, and I have what is left of my sanity.

But remind me, I have to go to the store and pick up a can opener, the one that I have now is electric.
