The FBI does in fact monitor fb. I've read stories about teenagers who posted something on fb and the FBI showed up at their school the next day and arrested them. They are primarily looking for instances of cybercrime and worrisome posts threatening POTUS. Cybercrime has in fact become the new Mafia, highly organized.

"Broad focus" is an oxymoron.

According to Dictionary.com (dictionary.reference.com...), all definitions of the word describe some type of center or static point.

focus (ˈfəʊkəs)
—n , pl -cuses, -ci
1. a point of convergence of light or other electromagnetic radiation, particles, sound waves, etc, or a point from which they appear to diverge
2. focal point another name for focal length
3. optics the state of an optical image when it is distinct and clearly defined or the state of an instrument producing this image: the picture is in focus; the telescope is out of focus
4. a point upon which attention, activity, etc, is directed or concentrated
5. geometry a fixed reference point on the concave side of a conic section, used when defining its eccentricity
6. Compare epicentre the point beneath the earth's surface at which an earthquake or underground nuclear explosion originates
7. pathol the main site of an infection or a localized region of diseased tissue
—vb (often foll by on) , -cuses, -ci, -cuses, -cusing, -cused, -cusses, -cussing, -cussed
8. to bring or come to a focus or into focus
9. to fix attention (on); concentrate

OP, you keep saying that everyone is wrong that there is no focus in the movement, yet you can't seem to provide any actual points that back up this claim. I have been following this thread to see if you can actually come up with any tactic other than using the same derision, scorn, etc that you claim to note in others. I have not been impressed.

Note: Regarding your list of ATS membership complaints, NWO. The old world order was one where East and West had hordes of nukes pointed at one another. Of course NWO means some Illuminati enslaving the world. They fail to realize they are "riding the back of the Beast." They ride it because the very ones who ride it complain about socialism, a mixed form of capitalism they confuse with Marxism due to ignorance about macro economics. Socialism that would void out the need for taxes because the energy sector and central banking would be owned by the national government. The revenues derived from energy and banking would be in the trillions of dollars here in the U.S.. Socialism works in self sufficient countries such as the U.S.. Unregulated capitalism breeds a Babylonian economic system as greed breeds the decease of corruption and capital hoarding. That's the Tea-partiers.

The Occupiers believe WTO is apart of the NWO.

There is no NWO.

Right now there are two competing economic systems in the world. One is deregulated capitalism and the other is national socialism.

When one of the other wins out over the other then there will be a New World Order.

I have my money down on National Socialism under the management of a world central bank. A confederation of global national banks.

Why is that? Why, after ten years, has the mood of ATS reversed course to a point where the media is to be trusted, the corrupt to be praised, the corruptors to be coddled, and the people trying to do something are the ones heaped with abuse? The very men and women so many here choose to identify with as archetypes - "workers," "real Americans," "patriots," "activists," "awakened souls," whatever - are the subjects of disgust and outright hatred when presented in person.

Explanation: They watch FOX. Not you... the brainwash channel.

They are looking for decent to suppress.

It's neo-COINTELPRO.

It's "1984."

The FBI has become the bad guys once again.

Yes, I get the 1984 thing, truly I do. I really don't think the FBI is much into that kind of COINTELPRO stuff. Like I said, I think their focus is mainly on pursuing criminal stuff in general. The level of cybercrime related to advanced phishing and code designed to capture people's personal info is plenty for them to worry about.
Even spy software uses key words as flags before anyone examines content.

yes yes, "There's no focus, there's no focus, there's no focus, there's no focus, there's no focus" - repeat the lie often enough, like a mantra, and... and... Nope, it still won't be true.

The focus is on a core of interrelated problems that stem from the common root cause - the corruption of our political system by the efforts of moneyed interests. Any one of these individual problems could be addressed on its own, sure. But that would leave the others swinging, wouldn't it? As I pointed out earlier in the thread, it's like demanding that the civil rights protests pick a topic and stick exclusively to that one: "Okay, we'll let you negros stay after sundown, but you still don't get to vote! And don't even think about ordering a sandwich!"

it's not "lack of focus," it's "a broad focus."

Now, the big one, getting monye out of politics. Perhaps you've not heard, but there's an effort to bring a constitutional amendment to debate:

"No person, corporation or business entity of any type, domestic or foreign, shall be allowed to contribute money, directly or indirectly, to any candidate for Federal office or to contribute money on behalf of or opposed to any type of campaign for Federal office. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, campaign contributions to candidates for Federal office shall not constitute speech of any kind as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution or any amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Congress shall set forth a federal holiday for the purposes of voting for candidates for Federal office."

Another draft version:

"No non-citizen shall contribute money, directly or indirectly, to any candidate for Federal office. United States citizens shall be free to contribute no more than the equivalent of $100 to any federal candidate during any election cycle. Notwithstanding the limits construed to be part of the First Amendment, Congress shall have the power to limit, but not ban, independent political expenditures, so long as such limits are content and viewpoint neutral. Congress shall set forth a federal holiday for the purposes of voting for candidates for Federal office."

There are other ideas falling short of an amendment; pressure to overturn the ruling of Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad, the origin of the bizarre idea of "corporate personhood."

With regard to the bizarre concept of "corporate personhood", even worse -- wasn't it actually a transcription error that was overlooked and stood in the ruling since it was never corrected?

Removing conflicts of interest should be put to a referendum since legislators don't seem willing or able to do it themselves.

S&F for you!

Lol it seems like Libertarian Socialism. I just had a discussion with someone else here about Noam Chomsky's anarchist Libertarian socialism. I noticed a lot of people here bring up Chomsky. The second video looks a lot like some of the methods I learned in business management. Except that in the business management model, there is still a team leader.

It's not the fact that there are protesters, l'il puddin', it's because their solutions are wrong.

I've been on line, writing in print, since 2003 as well. Started my rants against Bush.

While we all have a common problem, our ideas as to the solutions to these common problems are as different as Kim Kardashians husbands.

Focus on common solutions and you might find a consensus.

Yeah, but if we all sit on our butts waiting for the solution that's right for everyone we'll miss the opportunity. At least their bus is headed in the right direction. Do you get on it, or wait for one with a more suitable color scheme to come along? You might have a long wait.

I'll have to watch those when I get home - not enough bandwidth here. The very concept of "collective liberty" is the most bizarre oxymoron I've ever heard, and I just have to see how in the devil they can wiggle around that!

I have been asking this question myself. I have been here for 5 years and have read countless threads about creating a movement to revolution and it's all turned out to be idle talk.Well,we have had two movements form thus far and they have been decried by most of the forum as being controlled opposition.I have begun to think it's because the tea party and OWS are not part of their prospective "teams."The left/right scam is completely ingrained into even the most awakened person and they can't imagine a world without the elphadonk party.A majority of anti-OWS threads claims that the only way to fight the corruption is to vote,do these guys really have that much faith in a system that has continually failed the entire nation?.
