Lol..... How can you possibly ban something, anyone can make in their own home in a week? Seriously, a week and I got 60 beers. You can't ban it.... You can make wine and beer out of any pure fruit juice. They ban it in prisons, you can still get it there, and that is a harshly controlled environment.....

The government, and little control freaks can piss off out of my life. Thank you.

Well considering you can make quite a few concoctions out of household item(in far less time than alcohol) and that is illegal. Did you know its illegal to carry around oregano in a plastic bag? Point is there are many things that are illegal already that you dont seem to be discussing. And you can sure not sell it on every street corner and not advertise it to kids(americas future drunks) but yeah I understand not everyone could dare go without. Have fun

It's funny how so many people think everyone needs to be controlled and punished for the lowest common denominator people. Because some tiny percent of weakminded fools destroy their lives, no one should get to have it! On that note gambling, videogames, junkfood, and a whole other host of things weakminded fools get "addicted" to and destroy their lives over should also be banned. Pathetic....

How would you feel if some drunk killed your child while he was driving?
2nd line.
It has nothing to do with the effect on the weak minded drunk you get it now?
4th line.

I blame the person, not the alcohol....

How would you feel if someone was too busy looking at their GPS to pay attention to the road, and hit your child? Ban GPS?

How would you feel if someone was too busy opening up a sandwich to pay attention to the road, and hit your child? Ban sandwiches?

Failure logic....

I think the Op has a good heart and is well intentioned but suffers from an understandably child like mentality or an extremely immature mentality if you like, because something obviously occurred in his/her life to systematically shut down all rational and critical thinking processes and prevents him/her from entertaining any and all facts related to the issue because of the trauma inflicted.

It is sad to see and I can only imagine the pain and anguish he/she must feel.
I think right now a good dose of compassion is in order.

OP, I am truely sorry for your loss and hope you can one day come to terms with your pain.

nuff said.

To paraphrase a beer label I once read...

"Great beer makes great friends...

Great friends make great neighborhoods...

Great neighborhoods make great cities...

Great cities make great countries...

Great countries make a great world...

Therefore the greatness of the world depends on beer
"

In all seriousness, some of the earliest known forms of writing (Sumerian Cuneiform to be precise) are beer recipes.

There has been an anthropological school of thought suggesting the great impetus for our hunter gatherer ancestors to give up their migrant ways and stay in one place year round was to raise barley crops for meade.

The bottom line is, whether you see it as ol' Demon Rum or a divine sacrament, alcohol has been an integral part of the tapestry of world culture from the very beginning and is not going anywhere soon.

My advice, all things in moderation and if you cant handle your liquor abstinence is a cost friendly alternative...

You know whats so funny doctor? If I may call you doctor, I have not sufferd ONE SINGLE LOSS nor did it affect my life negatively in any way, EVER. Just thought you should know since you are fascinated with my "loss" or "problem". Your right about one thing: my heart IS in the right place as is my MIND! I can only hope that one day your heart and mind are in the right place.

You have not contributed a SINGLE thing to this thread but wasted space about a serious discussion.

I hope not everyone feels this way.

Why is it so hard for you to understand that this is not about YOU OR YOUR RIGHTS!!!!!!???????

that's right, I forgot. This about you and your overwhelming desire for control so that you can achieve your goal of ending human suffering. An altruistic goal I must say and it shows your soul is intact.

I love how you try to get a mob mentallity started in your posts by the way " come on guys" and so on.

I hope not everyone feels this way! Come on guys, who's with me?
Anyone?
ANYONE?!?!

It seems you are only here to try and get stars as the "spokesman" for freedom or whatever.

If you really believe that then I will delete my account today and completely start over just for you.
Sure, I'll take a huge hit with the massive amount of stars I've accumulated with which I was planning on retiring and moving to my own private island in the Caribbean BUT..........It won't be the first time I have done it just to prove a point and it certainly WILL NOT be the last.

Let me know!

And with all the typing you have done on this thread and you have not made ONE valid argument.

I hope not everyone feels this way!

Yes, I agree with you. This entire argument is that of a childhood schools selfhelp program.

Maybe I was a bit harsh, but it pisses me off to no end when I see people use that line of reasoning. "It's for the good of the children!" has tricked many emotional people into giving into all kinds of crap. It seems most people have emotions dragging them around by the balls these days, and critical thinking has gone out the window.....

the OP is right.

Alcohol should be banned, illegal and anyone who drinks should be jailed.

This I have learnt.

Thanks op.

Anything in excess is bad for you. The building block of life, water, can kill you if taken in excess. Alcohol is actually good for you in small amounts, unlike carbonated soda. Hey! I know! Let's ban carbonated soda. And what about cigarettes? Come on! Really? And how many kids have OD'd on common aspirin/ibuprofen/acetaminophen. Ban em all I say. They tried to ban alcohol before, it was called prohibition, and it didn't work. Forget about it. You'll feel better.

Yet another person who did not understand the thread they chose to respond to. I DONT CARE if someone wants to kill themselves with alcohol!!!! It the people that are innocently killed by drunk drivers or the people who are abused and beaten from the idiots that cant handle the alcohol.

Considering you don't even begin to reply to people who do address the points which you bring forward, I don't think you can really have a go at someone for slightly misconstruing your argument.

P.S. What is your opinion on something such as the wars in Iraq and Afgahnistan? You claim your big concern is the deaths of 'innocents', yet you never reveal whether you want this standard to decide all things rather than just alcohol. It is a rather specific thing to target don't you think? Especially if your true concern is purely the death of 'uninvolved' people- there are plenty of other things for you to target equally. Unless of course you have slightly more of an agenda and this isn't your true reasoning.

Right, so you are blaming others for not properly understanding the points which you have repeated without further information multiple times in your own thread. Most people would say that is your fault for such poorly worded posts if so many people cannot grasp what you are trying to put forward.

I have already stated pretty much what I thought your point was earlier, but you obviously don't bother reading other people's comments otherwise you would know if I had it wrong or not.

Why even pretend to want to discuss the issue? Not one comment you have written has put forward reasoning or information behind your point or any evidence that you have even considered the issue thoroughly- even when it was 'on topic'. You simply want to broadcast your view without arguing your case. Presumably for one very simple reason.

Sorry, but you need to get out of my life and find one of your own.

The stupid part is when one man affects the rights and freedoms of another man. It's the proposal of such an act that is even stupider. But whatever. You go ahead and push your agenda with you "baby killer" routine.

Oh wait back on topic, why do you think you opinion matters more than anyone else's? Maybe you feel you are part of the 1% that think they are better than everyone. Or maybe you are part of the 99% that have entitlement issues. In all seriousness you are trying to step on other's rights and then call those that backlash inferior or subpar. You make no sense.

Answer this for me, if alcohol should be banned, should we also ban the car (citing you save the babies campaign) since it to was involved? And should the man not go to jail since clearly we already have culprits (car and alcohol) in custody?

Also do yourself a favor and look up the difference between democracy and a rebuplic. Then try to remember what america is.
