A therapist once told me that people that medicate with either drugs or alcohol are "sensitives" they see the harsh realities of the real world for what it is and it's driving them mad..............those that don't need it are oblivious to what is really going on, they live in a pink fluff dream Barbie and Ken doll world and refuse to see or do anything but live their mundane told what they're to do lives.

We live in a reality not of our own making..............research, I'm well read, 40+ years and our world now is ruled by mostly psychopaths who power attracts. We are ruled not by equal say so but by a tyrannical dictatorship of the few controlling the many through fear and intimidation.

Not saying to over indulge in anything is good, just saying that some people are quite sensitive and see the big picture and at the moment that big picture is not looking good because of not enough people waking up, uniting and blindly continuing on with their apathy towards their fellow man.

Cheers.

Yeah. Let's ban alcohol and put me out of a job. Put everyone who works in the industry out of a job. Everyone that put everything they had on the line to follow a dream and open a small brewery. You know the bank isn't going to erase their debt just because their industry is now against the law. These people, like my boss, will be out on the streets in weeks. Since they wouldn't be able to make money to repay their debts then all of their assets will be seized, and that will be that. And for what? Because a small percentage of the population can't handle their liquor and make bad choices?

Okay. Well, let's go ahead and outlaw cigarettes too, they increase the chance of cancer. Let's outlaw guns, knives, baseball bats, and other hard objects because people use them to hurt each other. Let's outlaw cars because some people use them in the commission of crimes or just get in (non-alcohol related) accidents from falling asleep or not paying attention. Oh, and the internet because some people are irresponsible and put more information than they should out, and also pedophiles use it to find kids, and also there are hackers.

What happened to holding people responsible for their actions?

P.S. this is only mildly off topic but, some archeologists now theorize that early man moved from a primarily nomadic society to an agrarian society in part so that they could tend to their crops of barley and hops. Beer may have brought you civilization.

I'm certainly not disagreeing with your points, however I must question one thing you have said. The concept of our 'rights'- and a potential violation of them- is purely whatever our rights are allowed to be. There is no solid, unchanging 'rights' for people in the most literal sense: they are always subject to change and always strictly monitored.

For example, people are not allowed to buy alcohol until the age of 18 or 21- if this is a right of an individual then why does a relatively arbitrary line of age obscure that right? I'm not going to mention any illegal substances but believe I can mention the laws concerning them- these laws are now effectively governed by PR, without a hint of objectivity involved. Certainly here in the UK a doctor in charge of a committee to investigate legislation was forced to resign when he said effectively this same statement.

Then in a far, far more unnerving arena we have the patriot act and all which stems from that.

The idea of our 'rights' is a dotted line drawn in the sand.

In case you guys haven't noticed,
the O.P. isn't exactly on a fact finding mission.
Why waste anymore of your valuable time effort or energy is beyond me.
You all have provided nothing but facts and facts backed by even more facts
and the OP WILL NOT respond to any of it!!!!!!

Why bother?

Human nature is the root of all evil. Not greed, not alcohol, not drugs, not any other vice you might wish to plug in as the sin of choice. While people do commit damage while intoxicated, they also commit damage stone cold sober with the taste of God in their mouths.

You cannot legislate morality nor proper or acceptable behavior. We are hairless little apes and we act accordingly. Watch wild chimpanzees on a rampage sometime. They hunt, chase, brutally kill and devour the object of their particular outrage of the day. We are but a step up the ladder from those furry cousins. At least they don't disingenuously apologize for their bad behavior or blame it on liquor, or seek "help". They just are what they are. We should take a lesson.

thanks

Alcohol is legal in all countries?

You mean illegal in the USA... you need to be specific in a global forum.

Ummm Wrong.... This is a privately owned site and the site owners make the rules, doesn't matter what country you are in and what is legal.

Here, illegal and mind altering drugs are not discussed period.

Thanks.

ok, it seems I was mean in my last response, so let me keep it nice and simple for you all. I hope that NO ONE EVER has to lose a loved one to this horrible poison. If you really think that this is about YOUR RIGHTS you couldnt be more wrong. There are plenty of natural things that are BANNED for you to have, why are you not concerned with those freedoms that are being suppressed. I have responded to all sensical non abusive posts in this thread, I am sorry if you may have misssed that. Any how, again, I hope NO ONE EVER has to go through the hell of losing a loved one at the hands of some idiot that doesnt know how to control themselves when they drink. I hope that I have not offended any of you, Happy holidays

This is one of those moments someone pipes in with "everything in moderation" and I'd like to be that person, but if that were the case I wouldn't spend every sunday feeling like death, waiting for the world to swallow me up.

That was funny, thank you. I have spent many a sunday feeling like death also, thats my point though is it is a poison , a lethal one at that and it is allowed, I just dont get it

The same can be said of cell phones. Should they be banned?

Stay well.

Ok, so heres a perfect example of what I have tried to explain. Cell phones, masturbation, should we ban tose to? Seriously? Are there any victims of abuse, or deaths from these things? Are there innocent victims because of these things? NO!!!! Your masturbation has no effect on someone elses well being, unless your driving and doing it as to where you kill someone! Again, Ill ask that you re-evaluate your responses as they are not relevant to this thread.good day

Lol..... How can you possibly ban something, anyone can make in their own home in a week? Seriously, a week and I got 60 beers. You can't ban it.... You can make wine and beer out of any pure fruit juice. They ban it in prisons, you can still get it there, and that is a harshly controlled environment.....

The government, and little control freaks can piss off out of my life. Thank you.

You have not contributed a SINGLE thing to this thread but wasted space about a serious discussion. Why is it so hard for you to understand that this is not about YOU OR YOUR RIGHTS!!!!!!??????? I love how you try to get a mob mentallity started in your posts by the way " come on guys" and so on. It seems you are only here to try and get stars as the "spokesman" for freedom or whatever. And with all the typing you have done on this thread and you have not made ONE valid argument. Take your childish mentallity to a OWS thread please as I do not deserve your condescending talk on my thread, Thank you

It's funny how so many people think everyone needs to be controlled and punished for the lowest common denominator people. Because some tiny percent of weakminded fools destroy their lives, no one should get to have it! On that note gambling, videogames, junkfood, and a whole other host of things weakminded fools get "addicted" to and destroy their lives over should also be banned. Pathetic....
