You missed my point. People in this site seems to have this problem of fixating on the WEST, specifically the US, the UK etc. They find actions offensive and the loss of life abhorrent, except when its committed by any other country that is not the US or UK.

Its one thing to hold countries to the same standard - thats noble and I can respect that. However, when only those 2 countries are pointed out, while all the rest are ignored, thats chicken poo and nothing more.

I agree we will be forced to deal with N. Korea at some point. When I say we, I am referring to the US and the UK, maybe a few others but I doubt it. ITs easy for countries around the world to criticise the US, especially when the US is flipping the bill for their national security.

You guys want the US and UK when crap goes wrong, and when its overwith all you do is blame and condemn.

As a side note the BS people are spewing about conditions in the North being propoganda really need to remove their heads from their butts.

North Korea has nukes and huge number of artillery built over decades pointed at cities in South Korea. Its a much tougher nut to crack than Afghanistan, Iraq or Lybia.

My general attitude is that fascism and dictatorships everywhere should be burned to the ground, gutted and ended in any manner that is possible. If the second world war taught humanity anything it should be that these things are automatically a bad idea, and that we should never allow them to come up , let alone sit there stewing for a time.

I just dislike the idea that we should ever allow these things to go unpunished when we ourselves are responsible for them. If the USA ever started flying swastikas over its governmental centre, I would be up for giving them a thumping, and I would hope people the other side of the pond would do the same to the UK if it ever happened here. We in the west should hold ourselves to higher moral standards, and politicians and power brokers need to get the hell out of the way , so that morality can rule foreign policy, which it clearly does not at the moment.

That said I would be heartily supportive of any military action against Kim Jong Il... because well, with that guy dangerous nut job doesnt quite say it all.

Its wrong on so many levels but people need to remeber these people are starving and have been since the crop failure in the 90s. I love seeing these post of lets rush in and take them over. This country has made the perfect people. They view there leader as a god praise him for everything and will lay down there life for him in the blink of a eye. They have a million man military sure some of there gear is a little outdated but a bullet kills no matter is the gun is old or new. Last time we went to war with them we almost won till china stepped in and they will again. I am sure there are so many tunnels on the peninsula they would be able to make one long war out of it.
It would be nice to unite Korea and bring peace to the area and end the starring contest at the DMZ.

This may sound horrible to some.. but if things are that bad.. then it sounds like they did the kids a favor to not make them grow up in that.

We are on the same page then. I am all for holding ourselves to a standard. I just get irked when people make the argument in one direction only. To me it just comes across an insincere with a political / personal agenda attached to it.

Examples - People complain about the number of civilian deaths in Iraq from 2003. Those same people remained silent when Hussein was busy killing his own people.

People complain about the civilian death count in Afghanistan, yet remained silent when the Taliban were killing their own people.

People are in an uproar with the reports that US / Afghan forces had kids march through a field for mines (unconifmred but under investigation) yet remained silent when Iran had their schol children link arms and walk across mined fields to clear the way for their soldiers.

The west are not innocent angels, however we arent the sole harbringer of destruction either.

No thats very true. However, with the technology we have, we ought to be moving toward improving our intelligence to the point where when we have to act to save lives, that collateral simply does not occur. The SAS had Hussien under one of thier snipers guns back in GW1 and they were told expressly by the mission commanders (from the US) not to fire. Hence the bullcrap hellfest that occurred more recently.

I have no problem with hunting terrorists till they are all dead or detained, and I have no problem with removing despots and psychotics from government. I DO think that the only legitimate way to do that, is to remove them using methods which only result in intended targets being killed, and that nothing short of all out invasion of one nation by another, is a decent reason to flat out bomb the hell out of entire districts.

And if we were to go to war with North Korea, and anyone not actualy fighting were to be shot or blown up, it would be evidence that while well intentioned, we either havent the will or the heart to bother putting our own buttocks on the line to preserve a potentialy innocent life. Thats what I mean by higher standards. Put civillian lives before our own troops lives in terms of importance, even when it endangers them.

Sure,a person in the armed services should be there because he or she wishes to protect thier nation. But we are all citizens of the nation called Earth as well, and no one who cannot respect that ought to be given a weapon in the first place, in a reasonable nations armed services.

Not necessarily a stronger sense of survival, but in some cases, in extreme situations some parents might try to kill their children swiftly to ensure they don't suffer, if they'er in extreme pain and starvation. I could see that occurring. Under other circumstances, it might be that a parent overeacts, due to not being well themselves and higher brain functioning shut down from starvation and trauma, and kills the child in a fit, hearing the child crying and in pain, and then like plane crashes and other survival situations eating to survive.

However, that is not to say in some circumstances someone may not become truly insane due to harsh lives.

The Majority of Americans could care less about what is happening in the North Korea , and those that say they want Human Rights dont realise , Human Rights come at the cost of other rights , and the cost of lifes.'

I call these individuals cowards. They are to cowardice to stand up to the greater evil such as North Korea and Syria , and stand up to the lesser evil of greedy Americans. You deal with genocide before you deal with people that try and gain money through loop holes.

Just my two cents.

Id glady lead any marines in a war the American people send me . Liberate North Korea? Ok ... Liberate Syria? Ok ... Liberate Iran? Ok .... give the word

You say that when you're not starving.

But none of know what we would do if we were starving, until we are starving.

Whether this really happened or not, I don't know. But it's certainly not as unthinkable as some of you are naively thinking.

We DO know that the women are starving, that much is certain. Camera crews have snuck in and filmed the women cooking and eating tree bark as a means to stave off hunger pangs, but as you might imagine, bark just doesn't quite do the trick and hunger can make you do things you don't even know you could do.

We humans like to deny that we're animals, but the truth is, we are animals. And animals do eat their young if they are starving.

en.allexperts.com...

animals may eat young in order to satisfy hunger pains...Infanticide has been found in many species, including humans and other primates, cats, dogs, whales, rodents, insects and fish. www.ratbehavior.org... gives the following reasons for infanticide: to gain food....
Jane Goodall famously observed mothers eating their babies in some close primate relatives of ours, though it was the exception rather than the rule.

It does make more evolutionary sense for the mother to eat the young, than for the mother to starve and not eat the young. Why? Because if the mother survives, she can have a chance to breed again and pass on the genes. But if the mother starves, chances are the child will die anyway without the mother to nurture it. So, from an evolutionary standpoint, not eating a child that's going to die anyway is kind of a waste of food. It ain't pretty, but that's probably why they eat their own babies.

Contrary to popular opinions of some people, nature isn't all lollipops and can come up with harsh solutions to harsh problems.

The Truth is ... we are not Animals. THEORY of Evolution is a theory and not an absolute truth.

So on the other hand , in my opinion. We are in no way shape or form an Animal. The only way we get the idea that we may be animals is from vertebrate class of species , or mammalia which are in the same category of Apes and are identifying us with them .... im pretty sure my ancestors were not apes. In my opinion.

So .. in other words these women have no excuse for eating their young.
Honestly ... in my harshest opinion , if these babies were killed by their mothers and did not die before she ate the baby , she should be killed as well. Pro-Death Penalty here.

THEORY of Evolution is a theory and not an absolute truth.
It's one of the few theories with enough evidence behind it to call it a FACT that evolution happened, though some of the details about exactly how it happened are still considered theoretical. This link explains further:

Evolution as theory and fact

Say anything you want with your full stomach. You don't know what you'd do when you're starving to death. None of us do until we've been there and done that.

Wow... and you dare to carry the cross on your avatar? Thats about the least Christian sentiment I have ever heard. You ever hear of forgiveness? Of compassion? Or for that matter, basic human empathy? Tell me, what horrific circumstances have you ever been in that would allow you to comment from an informed position, on what is , and is not normal in a situation like that which exists in a North Korean concentration camp?

Have you ever been in a position where you are given JUST enough food to keep you alive, for decades at a time? Have you ever been so hungry that you cried? When was the last time you saw someone brutaly slain in front of you, or for that matter, were remotely mentaly traumatised by something you saw happen right in front of you?

Do you , in fact, have any business calling for the deaths of people who are VICTIMS of an oppressive regieme, which CAUSED the situation that thier actions are a direct result of? Nope.

Im all for leaving the smoking corpses of any guard at that prison, and any dirty fascist s.o.b. that helped it stay open, cooling in the streets, shattered beyond recognition... but victim blaming is not a game to be played by fair minded folks.

Yes indeed, there is no need to build up a propaganda campaign against North Korea, their human rights abuses are blatant and have increased in the last 20 years.

But I disagree that a military solution would be productive. While their military is technologically inferior to our own, the sheer size of it would provide a challenge for our military. Their army is is well disciplined and well indoctrinated. A portion would probably flee to South Korea as defectors, but that would only put a small dent in their man power. the war would be very drawn out and make the wars today look like play time in a sand box. Even after defeating their army an insurgency would arise, and if you thought the insurgency in Iraq and Afghanistan was bad, the one in NK would look very similar if not worse and would probably be supported covertly by China.

I love Korean history, and the Korean people. And through the research I have done I have noticed that Korea is very similar to Afghanistan in the sense that their sovereignty has been destroyed multiple times by foreign powers. The governments of both NK and SK were created by foreign entities without the consent of the people of Korea this was done to fight a shadow war between Capitalist Democracy and Communism. Both of the leaders of SK and NK during the Korean war wanted a united Korea with their own form of government not a a government mailed from over seas.

We cannot keep being the police of the world and going around starting conflicts, everyone we have started (Starting with the Korean war) has been a disaster. NK will undergo great change when Kim Jun Il dies, either they will be absorbed into the PRC (very bad) or there will be a revolution (which IMO is what will happen) which will bring about Korean unification. As long as Kim Jun Il is in power the people will be opiated, but we cannot be the ones to go and remove him because we will just create more violence and anger through our intervention and perceived aggression.

Pray my friends for our Korean brothers that they may struggle and rise against their corrupt leaders in both North and South Korea.
