This Whole "Occupy Wallstreet" thing seems like theater of the absurd.

You ask why they protest. Check out what they do for a job and there is the answer. Just like the 60's

Well tell Bill Gates and Warren Buffet that.
They each are giving at least $50 billion dollars away.
I guess they are just stupid with money.

You don't know what Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are giving their money to. Gates for sure is in the Club of Rome, and he has talked about vaccines being his favorite zero pop growth method. He said that at a TED conference where he's talking about how to keep the population down. He is a depopulation guy and he loves to spend his money on vaccines to third world countries. Think about that.

Well like it or not, unchecked worldwide population growth is a recipe for disaster.

I am really confused by the posts on various 'Occupy Wall Street' threads.

Thought most of us here on ATS were for no other reason than to question the 'status quo', to have a voice, wanting to be heard., and more than anything want change?

Back in the day when folk went out and protested against the Vietnam war they were called ne'er do wells, hippy freaks/socialist yet they brought about change.

I am an English comfortably off grandmother, own business will be out for the 'Occupy the Stock Exchange' planned for London..why...because I and everyone I know is sick and tired of greed in the financial sector.

We don't have a voice in the ballot box, the majority of politicians are rich beyond our dreams have little in common with us plebs.

Nothing to do with politics us 'little' people need as loud voice and the rich and greedy.

The way vacines slow population growth is not by nefariously killing off people in the third world, but increasing child mortality, which in turn means families no longer feel the need to pop out so many babies in order to get a few healthy ones who can support the family.

Do you seriously think there is a nefarious plan by Bill Gates to depopulate the planet by simply killing off people using vacines? I mean that's some seriously evil intentions of Bill Gates if true. Mass genocide using chemical weapons. I'm not sure I can believe that.

naaaah, dude. you're just being paranoid. and i wouldn't be surprised yer some
sort of a "racist" tea-bagger, a "redneck" and a "hater". modernised hippies,
yuppies and hipsters in kaki desinger clothes are true, and real. wall street
will be crumbling down within a few days. as soon as brangelina gets there.
and susan sarandon. and tim robbins. and roseanne. and other talking heads.
i heard that radiohead AND bono have "tweeted" that they support this
event. nay, let me rephrase that: "revolution".

also, julian assange has "tweeted" (from his cell) that wikileaks will be
media sponsor of this "revolution".

so yeah. you're crazy. left gatekeepers are not. not even by a long shot.
also. don't ask too many questions and don't be "too smart" about this.
just... go... with... the... flow. like sheep do and are expected to.

If you went down to Wall Street they wouldn't take your veggies, they would probably give you some they grew themselves. News flash....you are a peasant, like the rest of us. No matter how many rotten tomatoes you have saved up your whole life. You are bitter, scared and ignorant. Stop acting like you can take your peasant savings with you when you die or that it will buy you happiness or security. Only love and friendship buy anything close to happiness and security. Financial success, at most, is gravy on a truly fulfilled life.

First of all, I do grow my own veggies, for a living. Second, you must know me then? As you refer to me by one of my most favorite words 'peasant'. I love that word. Why? Because it speaks of hardworking simplicity, and honest living. But when it is brought up in regards to politics, I cringe, for I fear you are, once again referring to the communistic ideals of peasant and proletariat.

Funny, you mention those tomatoes, I worried about them last night too, as they are ready to can and I have run out of time as my hands and mind are tired from working. I know that I will take nothing with me into the next life, and money buys neither happiness or security. Love and friendship, sometimes, are fleeting too. I do not have full financial success, but I see those that do.

You are bitter, scared and ignorant. Stop acting like you can take your peasant savings with you when you die or that it will buy you happiness or security. Only love and friendship buy anything close to happiness and security. Financial success, at most, is gravy on a truly fulfilled life.

I am not bitter, I love my life and who I am. I am not ignorant or dumbed down or simplistic enough to think I would take my savings with me (why on earth, no pun, would I want to?). If you think I am only referring to monetary riches and not the riches of a life lived with hard honest work, joy and purpose, then you are mistaken. I am sorry. Some of this country's people have much to learn about how money and labor really work.

Who cares if traffic is stopped??

We are talking about bringing attention to the biggest CROOKS on the planet!

Everyone is too concerned about disrupting the "Norm". Good little consumers...

SOMETHING needs to be done. At least these people show that they're trying.

The Tea Party wouldn't waste, time, energy or money on the WRONG enemy

And they sure wouldn't fall for the cops duping them onto a bridge where they were easy to observe breaking the law, and trap for easy arrest

just sayin

Isn't it interesting how that works out?

Thankful people are never bitter, and bitter people are never thankful

Glad to see there are still plenty of the former!!

Rock on!

90% of those protesting in Manhattan are either:

- college students there because their professors told them they would get extra credit for attending. They don't even know why they are there, they just want 5 extra points on the next test.
- naive college students who don't understand how the world really works, or who were brainwashed by their far left wing professors.
- People who watched "V For Vendetta" one time too many and think they can bring down the evil Capitalist pigs.
- Communists and socialists.
- the usual Anarchist agitators who come out for every protest.

These people are annoying the people of New York City who are late for work and school. They are disrupting public transportation and hurting innocent people who have nothing to do with government policy. Want to protest; then go do it on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC.

aww, leave a half hour early for work

If you guys don't like the protests, or feel they should be done different, go start something and get it moving instead of being the armchair hero with all the answers.

The FED is not a government institution! The FED has never been part of the government in any way, shape or form...

The fact any Americans still believe that shows the success of propaganda and dumbing down of society...

Don't feel bad though MOST Americans thought the same as you until the past 5 yrs or so

In college, I was more of a rebel against society. I had no idea who the real enemy was. The people I rebelled against were just followers of fashion.

We need more socialist professors to explain how the word really works, and how protest is a weak solution. Asking for legislation is like asking the problem to fix itself.

That was a ride. I thought it used extremes, insane leaders vs insane hero, to illuminate problems and the start of a solution, solidarity. I hope no one took it literally.

Socialist here. Even if the 99% suddenly escaped their lifelong American programming, this government would never be socialist. The government and the banksters are one, and socialism would not benefit them. The only way to change it is to walk away, drop out, and let it rot.

Ok, I have a soft spot for them. They remind me of my college days. A little chaos is entertaining.

The zombies will be trying to get to work in DC too. Why to you think protesting in DC would be any more effective? The protesters would still be making a show in front of the exact same type of people.

I have been avoiding this thread for a while, but the ignorance of the OP is just too much.

let me enlighten you with the fact of the impressive America unemployment rates and why people are starting to protest those that cause the last economic crisis gambling with the wealth of the nations hard working class

You know, if you research before posting opinions perhaps you will think twice

The United States is facing its worst unemployment crisis in 70 years. In October, the unemployment rate reached double-digits for the first time in a quarter century; now nearly 16 million Americans are unemployed. Another 9.3 million are working part time even though they want full-time work. Overall, the nation has an underemployment rate of 17.5%, or 27.4 million people.

Among the 15.7 million jobless workers, one in every three has been out of a job for six months or more. These long-term jobless represent 3.6% of the total labor force, far exceeding the previous peak of 2.6% set in June 1983. More than 2 million workers have already been unemployed for more than a year. There is only one job vacancy for every six people unemployed.

www.epi.org...

Perhaps is those unemployed the ones protesting because they have nothing left to look for in the Great America, while the Uber rich profits is people with families starving.

Why are we asking the people who stole our lives, banksters/government, to give it back? Does a thief usually return goods when asked?

Remember that when you want prostitution to end, you go after the pimp daddies, no the whores, Wall street are the pimp daddies, US congress and government are their whores,

Who do you think runs the US government, research and learn.
