The reason the cops are called out is because downtown NY is pretty much THE busiest place on the planet. If the protests are blocking traffic - both vehicular and pedestrian - then effective operation of the city itself stops.

While I may or may not empathize with the protestor's agenda, this is just a blitz to try and gain as much media attention as possible.

What exactly are you even protesting? There seems to be no consistant agenda or actual action the protests would like. It's ideologues and/or board youth that have no jobs just "protesting" Wall Street?

WTF is that exactly? What is the point? "We want rich people to know we're not going to take it anymore"?

What about the poor single mom who's a receptionist for Mr. Wall Street but can't get to work because you're blocking the streets?

Better yet, why isn't this happening in Washington DC? Why not march on the White House? They're the ones that "bailed out Wall Street" after all? They took your money and gave it to the "rich" people...

I'm also sick of hearing whiny girly men and chicks screaming like they're being skinned alive every time a cop gets near them with their iPhone camera rolling.

S&F!!!!

Very good points, and I agree 100%. These people are nothing more than bored ACORN or CP kids who are too damn lazy to work hard for something, and want the "gubment" to give, give, give, so they can sit on their iPads and post tweets all day about meaningless dribble.

You guys obviously don't know what occupy wallstreet is all about. You think its all children then you are just plain and simple being ignorant. I'm not going to sit here and explain what its all about, its all over the web and easy to obtain information.

You think people are doing this because they don't want to work? are you kidding me?

It is. One of my favorite blogs, Ace of Spades, has this to say:

The Left doing what the Left does best: Marching to protest [fill this space with, literally, anything].

What do we want? Free unicorns!

Who do we want it from? Wall Street!

Apparently someone told them the unicorns could be found on the Brooklyn Bridge, and now the NY justice system has a new revenue stream.

I kid of course. At a great cost to NY taxpayers, these protesters will likely skate on all fines using the airtight defense of "social justice", a defense only available to roughly half the U.S. population, despite the best intentions of the Equal Protection Clause.

These are serious times. It is instructive that in these times the best the left can do is foment for violence, create economic uncertainty, and spend other people's money.

And by instructive, of course I mean axiomatic.

Gawd the ignorance of some people. Some of We the People protest is about greedy elites, but it goes much deeper. Are you that blinded by your party? We are tired of them spending our money and the few who still have work are worked to death, we are tired of not working, we are tired of government stimulus to the elites, which is comming from the poor, ya the poor are further lining your pockets dammit. We are tired of agenda 21, tired of police britality, tired of total govenrmetn control. If ya actually listened to We the People you would nto had made this thread. Instead of giving money all over the glo be how about giving it here in the usa to those of us who actually worked for it?? im wrong for wanting my money to stay in america, for the common people? no Im not wrong. They are wrong. this protest is much more wider in reasoning then the you`s coudl even begin to concieve. we are tired of the you`s/top 1%. we 99% definately out number the top we dont work they dont get payed, period. sad? Im happy this finally is unfolding...go america,

You won't explain it because you can't, let's be realistic. Fact is this "movement" is all about rich vs poor. The poor are pissed at the rich for getting bailouts from the government and people are upset their governments are not transparent.

Do these marches express that to a layman? Nope not even close, most people I know who have not heard of this movement think the movement is a sad joke. Look outside your own realm and see what the window-peekers see, they see people being idiots not standing up for a firm belief.

I am not for the government bailing out rich people and taxing the poor more. I am not for any of that craziness, but I am also not siding with Anonymous half-assed messages either in the name of "Freedom".

Sure, shout freedom and how we don't have it (which we do) and watch the sheeple protest.

I think that media attention IS the point of all this. The people themselves don"t have the money to sway Washington like the Wall Street has. If the skeptics don't know what it's all about they should youtube news reports about Bank of America and Goldman Sachs to start. They will see what this is all about. People need to see the big picture and who Washington really is. Who makes the real dicisons. JFK warned of what is happening right now and look what happened to him. Just because you don't understand the situation doesn't mean you need to resort to name calling. Do a little research and educate yourself. I don't mean this as an insult, on the contrary, I would like to see people step out of their comfort zone and see the forest for the trees...give it a try, what do you have to loose?

90% of those protesting in Manhattan are either:

- college students there because their professors told them they would get extra credit for attending. They don't even know why they are there, they just want 5 extra points on the next test.
- naive college students who don't understand how the world really works, or who were brainwashed by their far left wing professors.
- People who watched "V For Vendetta" one time too many and think they can bring down the evil Capitalist pigs.
- Communists and socialists.
- the usual Anarchist agitators who come out for every protest.

These people are annoying the people of New York City who are late for work and school. They are disrupting public transportation and hurting innocent people who have nothing to do with government policy. Want to protest; then go do it on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC.

I challenge your movement to be as clear as possible when it speaks so as to not have the masses mixed up on their message.

Take some criticism and realize, although the intentions of the movement are good, their message is far from clear and far from being heard by the masses.

Running around saying something is wrong and protesting without detailing what that something is, causes confusion.
It's not up to those who don't know to figure it out, it's up to those who do know to spread the message clearly, if you cannot do that you have already lost. The fact many think this movement is for children should speak volumes to the organizers...

I know what the kids down there claim it's about. Their signage seems to suggest it's about no less than a half a dozen different things. The pictures from this weekend seem to say it's about an open air block party with a general protest theme running through it.

Wall Street Pics from the Weekend and Brooklyn Bridge

I'd gotten the impression by people posting here and media reports that something big had changed and this weekend might represent something new for the type of numbers of people involved? Well, I patiently waited for the photo set today, and...what changed?? I see MORE kids in face paint and crappy clothes on their laptops and Ipods but I don't see any change in the type of crowd or the intensity.

I hate to put it this way, but lets see how many of the kids have the stomach for this after the first couple ambulances roll off with injured protesters after police actually *DO* get a little rough with a couple of them. I don't mean Mace that wears off in a short time, either. The Egyptians would have loved for Mace to be all they dealt with. Libyans would call the New York Police response Mana from Heaven as Syrian Security Forces are just shooting them.

No comparison guys... Sorry. As much as the kids WANT to be taken seriously down there...there is simply no comparison to the real uprisings around the world. Not even a passing resemblance. Better luck next time?

Looking at some of the people in those photos, I can now see why they're protesting. There is no chance in hell of them ever finding gainful employment, and I highly doubt they'll have the gray matter to invent anything, or become an employer.

Dont take thinks at face value, its a lot deeper than it seems. They have an objective. There is so much wrong with the world. And it can all be solved.

take a look at this link right here : Link

Its a Income inequality in america chart graph.

Thats the problem right there. The resources these huge corporations bull form the economy is staggering. And it all goes to offshore places, to make even more money. Canada is in the same boat, not as bad, but we're smaller.

Do some research plz.

Yes, really. So, you're 50? Retired, I assume, since you're going to be there until "????". I agree with NOT giving bailouts to big corporations that outsource jobs to China, then turn around and employ illegal aliens in the U.S. Meanwhile the unemployment rate has jumped 3% in the last 2-1/2 years. Solar energy is a pipe dream, and the tech isn't anywhere near where it needs to be. It's a black hold for tax dollars. If solar is so "wonderful" it will survive on its own. Period. If not, then it fails, and it needs to fail. I'm all for NO MORE BAILOUTS! I'm "Taxed Enough Already"......

last time i checked it was america as a whole making mistakes, not just the rich. how about we all correct individually before we go pretend that our live are that bad, our founding fathers would be sad, but also proud of the awesome country we have today, an just because some of you cant see any good in anything doesnt mean that what we have now isnt progress, if you dont like banks, dont bank, you dont like corporations, THEN DONT SUPPORT THEM

The unemployment rate is currently around 9.1% in the USA.
They cannot FIND JOBS
That is why they are jobless, its not a lazy thing, its not an entitled thing, its fact. Those are just the people who cant find jobs, that does not include the people who do have jobs that are struggling to get by on minimum wage and no health benefits and no future. The key is to stop thinking in your own little bubble and start thinking for the collective good of humanity. Its really not that hard.
I am perfectly fine with someone making 200k or 500k in a year. Thats all good. People have worked themselves up and made money, yes, they deserve that paycheque. Like a doctor per sae. But its not about them, its like a pyramid. doctors a wealthy, then theres rich, then super rich at the very top, who rake in billions of dollars in profit and invest it into their own interests in other countries. Haliburton anyone? They are a global disease and are cause for most of the poverty on this planet.

Hey lets move into this country, give them loans and when they can't pay them back due to the corrupt officials in government, the economy will stagnate and they can pay back the loans by letting us move onto their land, build an oil refinery, protect it with private security. And let the country die.

Dunno if that sounds familiar at all.

Agreed, but the point of a protest is to draw attention to an issue (this one being greed) and this protest wouldn't have the same effect if these people were camping in a field in, say, the land of Oz. They are there so that they CANT be ignored, disruption to traffic and general flow of the city is to be expected. No major social/poltical changes ever happened behind closed doors. People had to take to the streets. This is merely history repeating the same cycle. (hopefully for the better)

What exactly are you even protesting? There seems to be no consistant agenda or actual action the protests would like. It's ideologues and/or board youth that have no jobs just "protesting" Wall Street?

People protesting because there bored? That's a new one. I believe they are protesting corporate greed. There protesting how america has been fracked from the bottom up due to greedy wall st and banksters, steering the country into financial meltdown not to mention lobbying the government so that they can receive billions in bailout money and pass laws that infringe upon constitutional rights. I think this protest is pretty straightforward from what ive gathered from across the pond.

WTF is that exactly? What is the point? "We want rich people to know we're not going to take it anymore"?

Are you insinuating that there is a major flaw in that simple message and the way it is being carried out?

What about the poor single mom who's a receptionist for Mr. Wall Street but can't get to work because you're blocking the streets?

The poor single mom is gonna have to suffer for the greater good. She is part of the 99% and will benefit in the long term should they succeed. Were not talking about the changes that will happen today, we are talking about changes to the social and political system that will shape the future - For the better. We might not benefit directly, but the next generation (god help them) might.

Better yet, why isn't this happening in Washington DC? Why not march on the White House? They're the ones that "bailed out Wall Street" after all? They took your money and gave it to the "rich" people...

No point starting at Washington, Its the financial mess thats fracked everything, so logic kinda states that you start at the deep end - Wall street. If you can take down an army of vampires then those ELECTED officials are going to listen to your demands much more closely. I dont think you quite understand that america is no longer run by people, it is ran by big business.

I'm also sick of hearing whiny girly men and chicks screaming like they're being skinned alive every time a cop gets near them with their iPhone camera rolling.

Fair opinion i guess, though calling them whiny girl men seems a little off. People SHOULD be wary of authority when protesting, more then once has someone wearing a badge decided to take the law into their own hands.

I support them fully. I will be protesting.
I have a job, i make a decent wage, i pay my # on time for the most part..not so much lately but whatever.

But people who make more and have a comfortable life don't see anything wrong with it, im sure some do, im sure a lot do. But there are those ones that don't see anything wrong. brainwashed so to speak.

Economic Inequality is a very big deal, because it destroys the economy in the end.
