watch the altitude on those sims, anything below 140km and it should burn like a firecracker and stop orbiting thanks to atmospheric drag.

A fireball streaked across the Oregon sky Wednesday evening. Described as blue or green with a small tail, the object appeared shortly after 8 p.m. Reports of the sighting ran from Portland to Southern Oregon but seemed to be focused on the Central Willamette Valley and Central Oregon Coast. The object was also spotted streaking across the sky in Central-Eastern Oregon “From everything I’ve heard, it’s not a satellite -- short duration, moving fast, changing color and went out over the Pacific,” Dick Pugh of Portland State University’s Cascadia Meteorite Laboratory told KTVZ.

Update #9
Thu, 22 Sep 2011 04:01:35 PM GMT-1000
As of 9:30 p.m. EDT Sept. 22, 2011, the orbit of UARS was 110 mi by 115 mi (175 km by 185 km). Re-entry is possible sometime during the afternoon or early evening of Sept. 23, Eastern Daylight Time. The satellite will not be passing over North America during that time period. It is still too early to predict the time and location of re-entry with any more certainty, but predictions will become more refined in the next 24 hours.

I understand that Phage, and I respect your knowledge. Maybe the satellite didn't do what they expected it to do. They had no control of it what so ever, inertia took over.
