I push myself to be number one at anything I do. Never mind the gender of the person behind me, I'm motivated to be in front of them no matter who they are.

Women are also not aloud to compete against the men. I said it earlier but I'll say it again. Knowing the mark you've got to beat from a psychological standpoint will yield faster results from the person that's behind.

That's also why the faster biker is always in the back. The person in the front will eventually get faster due to the psychology of knowing you've got a faster person behind you. You are not supposed to chase the person, but letting them know you're behind them will make them get faster.

Thanks for bringing him up, I saw that episode and forgot all about that guy..

This man ran 350 miles nonstop, you just do not get better endurance than that. I think this puts the final nail in Gi Janes coffin...

Of course all the posts with facts and examples get ignored as usual.

Also for those saying running is unhealthy, I usually middle distance run. I think marathoners look unhealthy and it does put your body through a lot so I limit my distances, I like my muscle and strength. But on the other hand I dont think its less healthy than being 100 lbs overweight stuffing your face with pizza, doughnuts and chips sitting on the couch watching reality TV shows in your free time.

I read it. His body is NOT functioning properly. He has a biological defect that makes him superior. If he keeps doing it he'll be in a wheelchair by the time he's 40. Nature has it's ways to meter the human body to keep it from doing damage to itself. He doesn't have one when it comes to running. He's a dead man running, lol.

From a biological standpoint his muscles are going to shut down early in life if he pushes them too far. There is a limit to what muscle fibers can take and that's why lactic acid does what it does. In short, you get tired (body asks you to stop), you get a cramp (body tells you to stop), your muscles become saturated with lactic acid and refuse to hold your weight (body is making sure that you stop right now). If that doesn't happen because you do not have any lactic acid, what will eventually happen to your body is anyone's guess. I would guess that the muscle fibers for endurance will be damaged. He'll actually be less capable as time goes by. If he doesn't completely collapse or end up in a wheel chair.

Oh I thought you try'in to show endurance posting .

Lmao, naa. Chauvinism, regardless if it is male or female just ticks me off. It is like a childish ignorance that just makes the world a more messed up place. I can understand deference to those you care about, but chauvinism in a general sense makes my blood boil(which is a bad thing). So I acted in a hot-headed fashion and made an arse out of myself by posting a billion times.

As for endurance, it is more in the soul of an individual. A matter of personnel will power. Some of the examples of women doing extreme thing's one could argue women are capable of copying those successes. But when it is all said and done those are individual triumph's; results of individual will. Not accomplishments of any particular group, gender or race.

By trying to take someone else's accomplishments just because they have the same race/gender that the person trying to use them has, only displays a pathetic inferiority complex. Someone that takes their internal problems and projects them outwards for everyone else to deal with.

I wouldn't be surprised if the OP has lousy endurance or some kind of competition fear that he/she needs to get over. I guess in the long and short of it we are all just points of perspectives in space/time. But some of those points, dot's really really annoy me....

All I can say to that, is for me, it isn't about chauvinism, or any other ism, I love to bring laughter to people.
It's such a positive force and so good for humanity, on an individual and personal basis. Dosn't mean I laugh all day like some idiot. Then again, idiots who do laugh all day, are usually in very good health and are capable of
endurance on a grand scale. It's fascinating to me, how the two extremes are good for the soul. Laughter seems to
equal to a good cry.

There are some--hopefully more than some--for whom this question is irrelevant, if not outright affrontive.

Some years ago I had been in a relationship with a woman who could out-perform me running ~8 miles/12.8 kilometers & beyond, & it did not offend my ego or sense of masculinity. If nothing else it reflected Jana's dedication to excel in a sport she enjoyed & strived to continually improve on. Kudos to her for that.

Barring this generalization, all generalizations are false. Now visualize that I've just placed my right index finger in my mouth & flushed it out so a distinctive pop had finalized this reply. I mean good grief with this miasmatic feminism already.

Mortal combat between the sexes? What a way to end the weekend? With all due respect OP, what is the point of this thread? I mean seriously? You were bound to step on a few toes with this subject. Perhaps, your title should have had a question mark at the end? You made it out as a statement. All the rancor back and forth about this subject is merely speculation.

As I was taught growing up, there is no differences between anyone, and of course in the case of subject of the OP we have different reproductive organs and DNA sequences among the sexes but that is essentially it. We all put our pants one leg at a time, need food to survive, bleed red, have two arms and legs, two eyes, two hands and ten fingers, and the same internal organs. When did this become a competition?

As far as I am concerned, I don't care who is better at endurance activities or any discipline. Each side has its own strengths and weakness. I have yet to come across any person (male or female) who is perfect in anything they do. No such thing, and for anyone to make blanket statements about a person or group being perfect is foolish and naive. To put it bluntly, this topic is waste of hot air and energy. None of us are perfect, and everyone has limitations. It is all part of being human! Therefore, that makes us all equal, correct? Just my two cents, and anyone can continue attacking each other if they so wish. Carry on!

In a few years my grandma will outrun him. Thereby shifting the balance of power back to the women!

Seriously though. That's impressive. He does have an advantage over every human in the world though. The only downside is that he must not be very fast or he would have the world record right?

Equal, As in; Males are Human and Females are human. One CANNOT survive without the other. You're thinking of it on an individual basis. I'm seeing it from a worldly perspective. Also, you admit you're not saying males are better or females are better, but if neither is better then the only thing left to be is equal.

Like I said its all semantics. Were arguing over the meaning of the word equal, in different contexts. Equal can mean a couple of things, it can even be used to make something equal, not equal, if you are proficient enough in understanding the human mind and language. You can turn it on its head and upside down if you so chose.

So lets get this cleared up. No males and females are not equal and males and males are not equal, and neither are females and females equal, in a lot of things both in individuality and from a more worldly perspective.

But hey that OK and its all good with me, as long as you understand that its ok with me. You dig. Yes some are better in one thing or another then another. But that is what makes them...them....in the first place, So I suppose were equal. But only as long as you don't push that theory to far, because all theories are eventually broken when really tested. And truth is nothing in this world is really equal not men not even particles of atoms are all the same and equal.

Only in the scope of things are we equal, and at the core of things, but other then that only once in a while we are equal.

I dont know what is up with all these females always trying to be like men, but they need to get over it. The worst thing that could happen to them is if that actually came true and they become like men, and let me tell you they wont like it one bit. Oh noz not one bit.

Most women don't realize how easy they have it, and those that do or had a glimpse of it, would probably not go back there for all the kings gold in the realm. But if you want to increase your strength in anything in life whether it be physical or mental. Well that is easy to do just add weight and live with it.

That is how it all works out both physically and mentally as well, thought the "weights" you use are totally different in the mental department. Basically what it comes down to is pressure makes you stronger when you get used to it or overcome it, and when you drop the weight you were carrying all that time. Well when your free of the weight you will be twice as strong or more depending on the weight you carried.

Its simple really females have shortcomings compared to men in both the physical department and in some things in the mental department. Because they have it easier in those departments, that's all it really comes down to.

So males are in general more stronger and faster and even can go farther ie endurance because there lot in this ecosystem we call earth usually decreed it be that or they die off. Only in today's world has that changed, but even in that it has not changed by much.

So if anything blame nature, because she is the dictator of all things that you would consider as being better or superior, in any animal on earth, including the human animal.

And so were all caring weights around, and most of them are invisible to the naked eye and can only be grasped by the minds eye. The purpose of all that is to make us stronger.

And we all chose in what department we want to increase our strength.

And so, as that saying goes. My chosen torture makes me stronger.

You need to meet more women. All of us are not some fragile thing that's had life oh so easy. My Dad wanted a boy, need I say more? Your position is also debatable. We have to deal with an entire host of things that you do not. That could also serve to make us mentally superior or capable of dealing with constant nagging pain in a way that you don't understand. Yes, even that coin can be flipped.

Ok let me tell you what every other male in the world knows. You do have superior upper body strength. Women have superior core and lower body strength (for their size). That's why men have more back injuries. Men rely on their large shoulders and arms to lift something, women rely on their legs, hips, and core strength.

Wrong, what you don't get is that somebody who weighs 250 pounds and can run as fast or faster then somebody who weighs 120 pounds has a big advantage in that department. You see even if the smaller person could outrun or run longer then the 250 pound person.

All the 250 pound person has to do is drop a little weight and it would be a no contest. If you do not believe me go get a weighted vest, put it on every time you run. And do that for months till you get used to running with it, then see how much easier it is running without the weighted vest on.

So you see strength is a big part of endurance and speed, the other is muscle contraction and reaction time.

And as anybody knows if your using your back to lift something your doing it wrong, you use your legs.

And no women do not have stronger legs and core, they just have more fat in those parts, especially the gluteus maximus area.
In fact that is one of there advantages that they use on men if you know what I mean.

And there legs are usually weaker then men, because they don't have to carry around as much upper body weight as men do. And the rest is just training, will, and dedication to whatever chosen sport you practice.

I'm with you my dear!

Even if it's probably not true in most "pro" examples. First, let me say that any professional "race" is run with "water stands." Since women sweat less effeciently than men, these "fueling stations" work to a man's advantage. Think about it folks. If you take those fueling stations away, the man will lose his water more quickly for reasons just stated. As the race goes on I think many women would catch the men because they haven't sweated away their best mechanism for keeping cool. Plus there is the body fat thing which I believe can work to a girl's advantage in the long haul:

For long, slower exercise, fat is used more for energy than carbs.

Source

Also, I will say that I'm no super athlete but if you met me you would realize I'm no wimp either. I'm not a runner (or built like one at all), and so I never trained like one. But I can run in a straight line and I realize endurance is part of training. At 5'10" and 199 lbs I could run a back to back 8 min miles at 30+ years of age and I could also bench press like 280 lbs. That's enough to probably scare several women from trying to compete at a lot of things with me.

But guess what? I have dated more than one girl who could beat me at a lot of things. Especially distance like things. And no they weren't built like 5th grade boys. These girls had curves and were all 140 or more lbs.

I dated a girl who had a twin and her twin was even more into fitness than she was. Her twin was type of girl to go on a long run like 4-5 days/week. And at that time she was dating a guy who also enjoyed running. He was built a lot more like a runner than me (6'2 and leaner muscles) yet I clearly remember Kelly (ex's twin) telling us that when they ran together, she would start to kick his butt @ the 30 min mark! And he was a bit embarrased by that fact hehehe, but it wasn't a big deal.

Women can be surprisingly strong. Not saying they are stronger than men. But in my example, a 5'7 1/2" runner girl beat a 6'2" runner guy everytime they would go jogging together (despite his obvious stride advantage).

I'm not a natural athlete. But if I train like one, I begin to surprise some folks who have said I can "jump" for my build. Women aren't really encouraged to be "athletes." Men spend WAY more time honing their athleticism. So keep that in mind too.

All competitive talk aside, it's true on average guys still kick ass, but you'd be surprised what a lot of girls can do when they train properly and are put in the right mindset!

Cheers

It's been a fun thread-- reading the responses hehe.

You show me a real endurance runner that weighs 250 lbs and I'll show you 20 of them that only weigh 160. That's the target weight for males in endurance athletics. The target weight for the average 5-11 3/4 tall man.

A 250 lb man whether he be fat or have bulky strong muscle could never EVER beat a woman in a foot race that weighed 125.

If you believe so then it must be true....I suppose you can try to flip the coin in whatever way you chose, and no doupt your right that on some things females would be superior at.

But dare I say. Name those thing there superior at?

Nah just joking, you don't have to name them, I believe you. And I ain't just saying that because your a girl.

However I do believe most females have that advantage in the running long distance department. But as long as they don't make me drop some pounds to show them just how good the dust tastes. Then we wont be having a problem now would we.

No really I do believe you. Hey maybe we can have a thumb war to decide who is the best once and for all.

One, Two, Three, Four I declare a thumb war
