Haha not everyone is as retarded as the guy in the pic......or are they lol??

I saw footage of two black kids walking down the street with a 32" Samsung 3D TV....they even turned to the camera and smiled....shows you the mentality of these people eh.

I think there is a good chance of more trouble due to the fact that sky is reporting that the bullet that hit the police officers radio, may be police issue!!
If the riots started due to that guy getting killed by the police for shooting at them, surely this wont help matters!!

Just in on LBC news... Police are warning shop owners in barnet and southgate to close up early as trouble may start as early as 5pm in these areas. Also on twitter their are quite a few tweets saying that trouble has started in Clapham Junction with the O2 shop having its window kicked in.

Are these people poor? No, they are not. In the UK the State gives, gives and continues to give out cash, free housing, free education, community centres, special appeasement, pandering politicians and more. These people are only poor because they want to be perpetual victims. Now apparently many have picked up “free” expensive TVs, carpets, god watches and track suits.

In rich London and across the whole UK there is NO reason why someone cannot get a job. After all, we import millions of foreigners to do jobs – these are not the “low level” jobs either. You can bet that the people who will rebuild these wasted communities will be (er) Poles or Nigerians, but they won’t be people from Tottenham who prefer the career of complaining.

Yea that was being reported yesterday or the day before.

The guy (gangsta) apparently had an imitation/toy gun in his sock...propper gangsta eh lol

The police murdered him, witnesses say they (police) just opened fire...i dont know how much truth is in that but we remember what happened to Jean Charles de Menezes

The rioting and looting has nothing to do with the shooting of Mark Duggan, its just the stupid, uneducated, scum underclass that is blighting Britain today, seeing an opportunity to smash shops up and steal flat screen TVs and iPhones, the trouble wasn't anything like as big as the media has made out and to say london is burning is like saying hurricane Katrina destroyed the USA.
Media hype.

I guess in the polices defense, if that guy had an imitation gun, and was in a gang ridden area, there is no way of the police knowing any different. I mean what was he thinking going around the streets with a toy gun other than for the wrong reasons? I bet he hadnt come back from his friends house after a game of cowboys and indians

It may not have been the reason, but for the idiots who go out looking for any way of being a d*ck, it was a good enough excuse.

Ah, the sweet smell of 'the future'. Thugs on the streets, thugs making/breaking the laws, thugs EVERY WHERE! Glad i'm not a thug, but i'm also glad the "thugs" don't me about the rules on the streets. THERE ARE NO RULES. It's unfortunate they can't focus their energies, on the REAL problem. You know, the people making the 'rules'. When ish hits the fan....it's gonna be thugsville!

Oh, and for y'all that "cant wait" for the system to crash.....you might as well get a glimpse of what it's gonna look like, when it does crash!

Troll is the new insult when you can't call me a name that is T&C forbidden

The fact that my opinion differs from yours does not constitute a troll.

When I sign up or do not sign up does not constitute a troll.

Sensational, lying headlines, to me seems trollish.

Those who resort to insults are the ones who realize they no longer have a valid point.

ETA before I go - you have proven one point - sensationalism is more valuable than truth - since you got me to come here - I would not have posted otherwise.

Why do I see you in so many threads pretending to be a moderator.

It seems your only purpose on here is attacking people for making duplicate threads. Report a moderator if you're that bothered.

Well the term poor is relative however whether they are poor or not dosent really matter, its important to remember that we live in a society where the media portrays success by material goods, in other words you are what you own. Im not condoning the behaviour, i think its disgusting however we need to look at the underlying social reasons for this.

New updated pages from the eximner.....the old page from last night is no longer updating....this is the new link to see whats going on in London today

thewestlondoner.wordpress.com...

1607: Apparently things are warming up in Barnet now. Shops were closing there earlier, fingers crossed. Tweet me – @gazthejourno – the site team are working on getting live updates onto our Twitter account too.

1611: This picture claims to show one person’s haul from last night’s looting. People were using laundry bags and shopping trolleys to steal as much as they could.

1613: Mare Street in Hackney is apparently the focus of a large group of people with police on their way. So much for earlier report all was quiet there – perhaps he was a local trying to get people to stay away?

There are a lot of social issues here that no one is noticing. London is the place for the Olympics next year. All around these people, regeneration is being concentrated on building for this event, millions being spent, but their community is falling apart, budget cuts, youth projects being shut down.
I live near Glasgow and there is a lot of money being spent on the Commonwealth Games which comes here in 2014. Stadiums are being built, accommodation for contestants, but the areas round about it are ghettos, where no money is spent, youths have never worked with many in their late 30's still without a job.
It is a bit like, how is there plenty of money to fund these projects, which last only a few weeks, but we the people who live here are left to live in squalor.
The housing scheme next to the developments are complaining about broken window catches, such a simple repair, but people have fallen out of windows because of lack of money. An upsurge in suicide has taken place within a small area next to these developments. It has been well recorded in the local news but no one joins the dots, till now with this uprising in the London area.
It is a cry for help, kids going back to school, no money for new clothes, best thing to do, loot the local sports store. It is social deprivation a a massive scale.
The government needs to look closely at their 'Big Idea' as it has only picked on these people who cannot get a job, slagged off the underclass. Kick a man when he is down, that is Mr Cameron's philosophy. I have read many people on benefits, sickness benefits who are having to go through appeals, even if they have terminal cancer to prove they cannot work.
Why do we pay National Insurance if it is not an automatic right that if you are out of work or ill, it is there to help you till you get back on your feet?
This government are targeting people who are vunerable and these riots are the result. Maybe some have a granny who has had her benefit cut as she has to 'prove' that she is ill, even though she has Parkinson's or Alzheimers?
This is the kind of government persecution that is going on in these communities. Another rule the government has made is to make people who live in London on benefits is to move as housing rent is high and they are not going to subsidise their housing benefit, so are making people move to other areas which have cheaper rent. Stating the housing can be freed up for people who 'work.'
Think how even that one condition of the government's would affect people who live in these London areas who are looting right now?
This government every week says things that put the poor down more and more. I have read the newspapers, watched the telly news and it is apparent their agenda is unofficial genocide, like Hitler's plan, but without the trains taking you away to be gassed.
If you are not middle class, then you are scum. I am in disbelief that this has not been outed yet about their plans for the poor in our country.

haha yup i see where your coming from but it is kinda important to let people know this isnt dying down and to prepare for the upcoming riots/looting.

The more looters faces plastered all over the news the better, these people are nothing but criminals jumping on the bandwagon.

But they are reporting on it once things have simmered down.

News services ( especially the BBC ) have to act responsibly. While, in theory, if there's a breaking news story, they should be reporting on it as soon as possible, in practice, it's often prudent for them not to do so.

In addition, most of these rioters and looters are from the ''15-minutes-of-fame'' generation, and probably want as much media exposure of their antics as possible.

Keeping the TV footage of these copycat riots/looting to a minimum helps not to glamourise and give publicity to the rioters.

After all, everyone in the local area will know what's going on at the time, is it really that important for anybody else to stay immediately up-to-date with the action on the news ?

As for more ''looters faces being plastered over the news'', I'm sure that footage of looters which weren't broadcast live will be freeze-framed and released to the public in a few days times.

Really good analogy with Katrina, except that the OP said "London is burning" NOT England is burning. So in your really solid analogy, it would be like saying Katrina is destroying new orleans....but I guess that would not be making the point you trying to make...oh well, I guess it was just a bad analogy aft all.

This is very concerning.
I'm searching and searching to try and figure out what prompted this. I pray a roundup isn't next after these riot.

I( would like to point out that we should not be arguing about who posting this info first, and what news channels are and aren't covering this info. Instead we should be working together to get a full picture, both sides of the story taken into consideration will help to give a whole truth.
Peace and One Love.

The social problems in the area are massive. I used to work for a charity taking kids, from Hackney and the surrounding boroughs on holidays to the countryside in Sussex. Most of the kids came from single parent homes, or abusive families, we took white kids, black kids and asian kids and they were all as badly behaved as each other and all as vulnerable as each other too. They all played the hard man, but most would cry at some point coz they missed their mummy.

It was an education for me, as it made me realise, these kids are a product of their environment not their ethnic background. They were young city kids who had never stepped off the estate. I will always remember their reaction to seeing a cow for the first time. When we would take the kids to public swimming pools in middle class sussex, there would be an exodus from all the other swimmers who seemed to be horrified at the site of 30 city kids joining them for a swim. I don't know if this was down racism or the fact these kids were pretty out of control with some pretty colorful language.

But the lessons learned on those holidays have been valuable. These kids lack discipline. The type of discipline you and I probably take for granted, that our parents instilled into us without us realising. When the kids acted up on these holidays they responded to a bollocking because at least it was some form of attention, something they had never had before and it showed someone cared about them enough to at least try and discipline them.

I don't know what the solutions are, youth services have pretty much been wiped out nation wide, there's no money for these types of programs any more.
