Anyone who thinks it's a good idea to torch their own neighbourhood is already pretty dumb. It's not like these people need any help when it comes to stupidity. I've seen amoebas at the bottom of test tubes with more intelligence.

Open up the fire hydrants and turn on the hoses and two-thirds or more will leave. A few bean bags out of shotguns will get the majority of the rest of the looters/rioters off the street.

Riots are arrested and nobody is seriously hurt...how hard is this?

I didn't say I DIDNT KNOW how to do sprouting. I said the mass majority won't. It may seem trivial to you but many don't know the first thing about growing their own food. The majority rely on food produced for them and wouldn't know how to grow a potato. I think you give people way too much credit. Those that rely on fast food and processed stuff will have a very hard time to survive if there is social collapse. And for those people it will end in violence fighting over the food that is left.

It's not that complicated, freaking grass grows by itself. They will have to figure it out. I'm sorry ok... they will have to FIGURE OUT HOW TO FEED THEMSELVES.

This is the system we built. This is the sum of the equation. Once that part is established, we can move forward.
I don't know what else you could possibly expect other than just keep trying to shuffle around the fact that some have way more than what they should.

I think we'd all be surprised at how dumb people can be. I believe a lot of people would fail at even growing sprouts or would rather loot and pillage. I think I misinterpreted what you originally said. So I do apologise. People should start learning to grow their own food, but its an obvious fact that the vast majority won't.

Hey, no problem... we have been holding this crap together for a while and there ARE times when letting things fall to pieces is not the right answer, but can't you feel it. I think there has been an effort to prepare us for it actually. it's actually a much more neat and tidy problem than it could be.

it just kind of frustrates me when there is still so much resistance to change and I have been there, I have stood on the side of resistance to change before and at that point in time i had different reasons. i just think the picture is so clear now and if you an see and you can pull together your faith that we are stronger than we know... I just think it would be better to help others understand than to cause more division in a time when it isn't going to help, when what we need more than ever is unity... to stop pointing fingers and shifting blame and level our playing field. We are born no better than any other.

It's gravity, you know. It's a force that rules sometimes and things are going fall. The dollar has to be a symbol we can let go of... it is just a symbol. So much more than this could be expected from us.

That's the problem I'm actually afraid of... that the statement "torch their own neighborhood" is ringing truer than we realize.

I don't know... maybe that is late night/early morning/lack of sleep delirium setting in and these are just street people who got a hold of some really strong acid and think they are doing a good thing.

I just really hope that this isn't meant to prove some kind of point... mostly because I'm not understanding what the point is.

You consider mass looting "poor people of the world rising up"? Well if that is how the poor rise up then they will definitely be kept down. You cannot loot and riot your way out of poverty. That does not show the world you are suffering it only enrages people against you.

He is right. People advocating peaceful protests are naive or disinfo shills. The elite rule the citizenry through fear and violence every day yet when the worker class dares lift a finger in discomfort, the peasants are barbarians? Give me a break. Psychotic animals will never yield to peaceful methods and that includes the elite and their inhuman ways of control.

I predict a riot - Kaiser Chiefs keeps going round my head, along with Tracey Chapman Across the Lines (i think its called).

Yep putting myself in the shoes of the mindless idiots who will no doubt perpitrate this - its the opportunity of a lifetime for them. The whole country is scared #less (some don't know why, but they know its going wrong).

It's going to be a massive shopping spree (without the credit cards - because they can't get credit of course) for the young/old who have been brought up on a diet of I want, I'll have - without the hard work in between.

It's going to be a bloodbath because all the youths will realise there is not enough police to go round and will start their round of revenge killings - ironic as this all started with Mark Duggans cousin getting killed and his response to it ie paranoid and carrying a replica gun - its being reported that he had a replica gun in his sock at the time he was shot (gangsta 'non' hardman trying to pull off a bluff perhaps?). T - they all seem to be like that and this is the opening they've been waiting for. So far the only person killed has been MD. My fear is this will change and with that the whole system will fall - I'm watching this situation carefully.

Its all going to kick off again tonight....Hackney and Dalston are the new targets, as well as Westfield shopping centre.

Shops are closing and people are being told to batten down the hatches for yet another night of yobish looting and vandalism

EDIT: Once again....News on the tv (Sky, BBC) are not reporting anything about the trouble in Hackney already. The news teams seem to be in Tottenham.....where nothing is going on!

People advocating peaceful protests are civilised. You mention the Elite using fear and violence every day, yet that mob scum used fear, violence and a whole bunch of pure greed too.

I'm sure you can say fight fire with fire. Yet those same Police who were trying to enforce the law and bring peace to the streets are just normal people doing a job whether they agree with what they are policing or not. They aren't the Elite, nor is the shop worker or owner now out of business.

I'm sure if your street was targeted by mobs of people torching cars and breaking into houses you'd call the Police.

My brother and all my close friends live in Hackney and Dalston. I'm glad I moved away when I did. Funny thing is, as whites in the area you don't really come into contact with the gang elements. You hear the police helicopters, but your unlikely to get any grief. I certainly had no problems when living in the area. It's mainly black on black or a Turkish gangs that all seem to fight between themselves.. I hope the area will calm down and get back to some type of normality soon. For every looting thug, there are many more good folks in the area just trying to get on with their lives.

Totally agree on that.

Our system of support to people in poverty allows free housing, at a decent standard compared to many places in the World, free money for food and cover the utility bills. We all have free healthcare, free schooling and many other services at our disposal, all free. We shouldn't have poverty as an excuse for stealing.

The poor people in Tottenham are having their lively hoods destroyed and house's ruined and their ciommunities burnt to the ground. The Looters are criminal gangs not working class people standing up for their right's.

That's probably because reporting about looting in an under policed area on national TV is tantamount to running an advertisement saying: come here for free electrical goods and sportswear.

The police are stretched enough as it is, without irresponsibly advertising whereabouts people may be able to take advantage of this fact.

haha yup i see where your coming from but it is kinda important to let people know this isnt dying down and to prepare for the upcoming riots/looting.

The more looters faces plastered all over the news the better, these people are nothing but criminals jumping on the bandwagon.

I was thinking last night....

Facebook uses face recognition software now....people are tagged in phots just by the shape/style of their face. Im pretty sure the police will be on facebook today putting pics in to see whos account they come back to. If the facial recognition software is any good we should see a large amount of arrests in the coming days/weeks
