Most Christians are VERY much not Christ-like .. many of the biblical rules and decrees were tossed out, people tend to pick and choose .. Christ would certainly be upset if he existed, and knew what was being done in his name.

Even though I am a Christian I believe what you say to be truth. Christ would be quite ashamed of alot of the things that have happened/happen in his name. In saying that though I also believe God and Jesus knew that most men were and are incappable of following in Jesus footsteps. Hence why he died for our sins.

I will also state that me being a Christian does not mean I believe in organized religion. I don't agree with any organized religion period. I have my own relationship with God and seek answers from all religions. Once religion becomes organized the dealings of men affect and dilute the true message 99% of the time IMHO

Amen Matt!

Atheism is a choice...just like a belief. Its all about perception and experience. The spirit moves within me and is an awesome feeling...thats the belief "in" me. Some do not have it where it speaks of a God. Thats cool with me. Just be nice about the differences between two people (or more).
Thats being respectful no matter what you believe or not believe. Right?

In my opinion the OP dug their own hole with the opening argument but then of course the rest lobbed rocks and bottles over the fence in a desperate attempt to defend their turf
At the end of the day I don't need insurance for my flight to the afterlife, I'll get my massive shot of '___' and move into whatever is next!

Amen mamaj,

Plenty or room for all beliefs in this world. Everyone just needs to remember to play nicely while we are all on our respective journeys .

You are supposed to strive for perfection, though, not hide behind the fact you never can be perfect. Follow in his footsteps, anyone? So learn a lesson -here and now- to make yourself more like jesus: atheists don't want to hear it. We're not hurting you with our own personal philosophies so don't inflict us with yours!

I don't attack other people's belief systems, just their methods of indoctrination. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

I do strive for perfection....and along my search for perfection I found it. I found the perfect ANSWER, which is NO ONE IS PERFECT.

So your comment I hope wasn't aimed me at since I agree with what you are saying. I also stand by my original post that stated people crying " oh how Christian" is no different then playing the race card... NO ONE is perfect including Christians, WE ALL SIN OR HAVE SINNED.

So next time someone feels like saying " oh how Christian of you" please hold your breath and save your trouble because yes whoever you were going to say that to IS acting Christian... a christian is still a human we are ALL imperfect.. as is yourself... instead of "Oh how Christian" you should say "oh how human " then you would show true intelligence.

And Im not aiming this post directly at you. I am saying it in a truthfull and general way to everyone

As has all other religions (including atheism) minus maybe Buddhism have done to christianity. This is not due so much to the respective religions but more to humans changing messages and teachings to fit there own agendas.

I think you may have missed my point. If theists were truly searching for perfection they would be learning from their mistakes. Mistake 1: Enforcing beliefs on non-believers

Awesome. Do and act different than what you preach yet be held to a human standard...perhaps it is because you are human and you have made up a really amazingly bs story for the rest of us and you will be caught in your lies now and then..all made up. Impossible to deny. Humans, over thousands of years makingup stories in HIS name. How truly sad.

No I believe i understand what you are saying , and I agree that "forcing" our beliefs on anyone else is wrong. I in turn also believe in spreading the word and teachings of God and Jesus to whoever wants to listen and learn about it.

It is the goal of every theist religion that I personally know about to spread the teachings of said religion though not just Christianity.

But you are correct that forcing your beliefs on someone , or starting wars over them is assinine. People will choose on their own accord no forcing should be necessary.

Am I following you right?

I'm pretty sure every religion has been tampered with by to many human hands to be held as a. Life and death take it as truth type of deal.

Every religion is manipulated by human input not just Christianity, true realistic Christians try to emulate the teachings of Jesus seldom do most succeed.

Buddhism is a teaching/ philosophy but is also a religion followed by Buddhists. Christs teachings are followed by Christians. Christs teaching are a philosophy in my opinion also though.

Hmm! The parody of your post got a better rating than your post. Oof!

After four days of my being a member it seems as though it should have been clear to you that circular logic would never fly here. Especially when you don't even include a piece of evidence to begin from.

I don't want to come off as all knowing here, but if you understood the principle of what God is a little better you would see how silly this argument is. I am not talking about the Personality of God which Christians insist on assigning to him/her ~ see? It doesn't work. Personalities are ours, and yet we thump on the Bible and proclaim God to have some pretty ungodly characteristics.

Face it you are stumping for a hi-jacked religion, assuming Christianity here, which is not at all what Jesus intended it to be. Maybe you should look up the old Joan Osborne song "What If God Was One Of Us" take it to heart and stop baiting your fellow man for being free to chose. You still believe that God gave us freedom to chose don't you? Even the Catholics still preach that.

Im not even going to bother with actually reading your post although i will ask
how sure are you that "we" are the ones suffering from a mental illness or is it jealousy that we can simply not believe in spun fairy tales.

there is a recent thread on here with Mos Def explaining some facts about the "bible" i think you should watch it and quit being an ignoramus.

Hence why he died for our sins.

See, that has always bothered me. Die for your sins, how does that make any sense at all. It's like the guy in Puerto Rico that Bill Maher interviews in "Religulous" who says he is the next Christ. According to him, since he already died for our sins there has been no sin since. (Gracias Amigo!) Actually, Jesus never said I am going to die for your sins. So where did it come from? Are you ready for this?

The Catholic Church. That's right, through their persecution and genocide of opposing Christian viewpoints and sects - see Albigensian Crusade - right after they produced what all Christians believe - for no apparent logical reason - is the Holy Bible. Shortly after the Council of Nicea, The Catholics foisted themselves into the position of the Fathers of all Christian Faiths. Since they were the only game in town, all other Christian sects spun off from the Holy Roman Church. Everything that came before the Catholics is lost to us, or almost lost.

Doesn't any of this bother you? I was raised as a Catholic and it bothers the hell out of me. Oh and we didn't have hell before the Christians gave it to us, so if he hadn't died for our sins where would we believe we are going today? Don't say Purgatory because that was another theme park created by the Catholics, and they have since closed it down.

Lies are lies, even if it is a lie you are comfortable with, or one you hold dear. When there are lies we cannot make good decisions.
