You can't be serious? Those threads have those "REMOVED POST" EXTREME T&C VIOLATION flags and banners throughout. This is a love fest by comparison. You gotta get out more.

It's funny, after 9-11 every time President Bush would speak, the press and left would slam him for "fear mongering. Now with obama he pushed fear mongering to a new high shoving national health care down our throats

How can you equate starting a war for oil with bucking insurance mandates and trying to give people affordable health care?

Since when is pointing out the real possibilities
(the country will go into default if the debt ceiling is NOT raised)

rather than the made up
and purely hypothetical scenarios that are not even likely to happen
(i.e. THEY might attack us again on our own soil,
so we must invade foreigners and feel you up in airports)
how is that called

"fear mongering?"

edit on 24-7-2011 by newcovenant because: (no reason given)

Well, lets see being felt up at the airports came under obama and big sis and wasn't in effect under President Bush. The iraq war rember both democrates and republicans seen all the information that President Bush did and both voted to go to war, unlike obama going to war with libya on the un's orders.

I lol'ed when I read this. It about sums up what ATS has become. It's why i rarely ever look at it anymore.

Tarpley is correct about the Tea Party. Most people here are too simple to see they are being played like an old banjo. You have to be delusional to believe in this two party system crap.

I don't go for Nazi sympathizers or their heathen offspring. I am not crazy about Obama either but walking into the mouth of the beast is not the answer...and yet we did. I think the years of Bush were our undoing and understand you will not. I can't explain those differences any other way than ideological. On those we will never agree so why bother?

YEAH, Reagan, Bush I, or Bush II were free-market politicians. They campaigned as free market supporters, and their administrations pushed free market policies, primarily deregulation.

In each case, the reduction in regulation lead to wide spread corruption, and economic disasters.

You are completely disconnected from reality if you claim these guys did not push free market economics.

You also need to take another look at who their economic advisers were.

Instead of listening to the lies spread by right wing radio hosts, you need to start doing your own research.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not a big fan of Bush either, but I just have slightly more respect for him then the total lack of respect for obama. My big thing is the total lack of security of the US/mexico border which NO president has done a damn thing about, the spending, which obama went into overdrive on. No, President Bush was far from perfect, but obama well, he's put us on a rocket sled straight down.
What we need is another option and you won't get a third party in unless you can get the whole contry behind them and I really don't see that happening.

I am a fiscal conservative, a social liberal and a family man. I cannot spend money I don't have. I cannot print money or make the money I have worth more. If I need more money I must ASK my boss for a raise and he can say no. When has the government ever ASKED me for anything.

Honestly, I have been paying taxes for nearly thirty years now and watching this government spend and spend and spend. Now that it comes to a head they want MORE of my money to fix their SPENDING PROBLEM. I have struggled with medical costs, housing, school costs, sports for a teenager, transportation......etc.

They can't have any more. I refuse to allow them to raise taxes again. I will vote against ANYONE who accepts new taxes. Spending cuts, massive ones, are the ONLY hope we have.

At this point in time, I am rooting for the default.

You are falling prey to all the screaming and twitching my friend...

Do you understand what gets initiated when the US defaults?

Contracts trigger, which will immediately raise the interest rate and compounds it with a much higher rate. Some higher risk contracts will call for immediate payment upon default, which will create a run on the treasury.

This country will then be set to pay Trillions more in interest,,, it is like immediately tacking on more debt.
Possibly years worth, in an instant.

Then you consider what will happen to the money in your pocket, are you certain you understand how much it will be devalued poet?

Addressing all of the waste and inefficiency of government is intelligent. To commit suicide, to end a headache is not.

ETA

Credit card companies can increase the interest rate on the cards you have balances on because of
this... Don't believe me? look at the clause that adjusts your interest rates to "pace the fed rate/or fair market
rate"... I mean there are so many things being over looked, it is just about laughable.

How can you be serious about the nature of debt, if you are willing to incure huge compounding debt, for
nothing in return. No millitary, no subsidies, no SS or medicare... Just immediate interest appearing
from one moment to the next.

Good point, but what are credit card companies going to do when large numbers of people begin to file bankruptcy?

First of all, the banks issuing the cards are all almost insolvent as it is, so they don't have much money to fight lawsuits with.

It will be quite the mess for creditors of bankrupt banks to go after credit card holders.

Second, with a bankrupt fed, the states and local governments are all, also going to be even deeper in financial straights than they already are. They aren't going to have a lot of money to go after debtors either.

Most likely huge numbers of people are going to simply stop paying credit card bills. There will be nothing that the banks can do about it, because you can't get blood out of a turnip.

There are a lot of retirees funding their retirements with debt, large credit card bills, and homes mortgaged up to the hilt. They don't plan on paying this money back, they plan on dying.

Our private sector debt is also at historical highs. That is the side of the story that big media does not talk about. It is hard to imagine how much of the balance sheets of our nation is based on nothing but debt not backed by anything but a promise to pay.

Although the bulk of the "rooting for default" is being done openly among the GOP/conservatives, and what I say next is not in any way speaking for poet, I have heard some diehard Dem/liberals also express the idea of "rooting for default".

Americans have had their behavior shaped to not use the word "why". Questioning can involve delving deeper, digging up nuances. Rooting for defaulting can come from two completely different reasons. Conservatives see this as something positive. A liberal would see default as negative but necessary to destroy the country and the crazy thinking that got the US to that point, with the nation rising anew Phoenix-like from the ashes.

I am a member of neither of the three parties. I am a teacher of Gods Law's and His laws on economic justice.
You maybe a believer in Christ or whom ever. Doesn't matter truly. But what does matter are our people in our family America. I do not consider Corporations as real flesh and blood Humans. I do not believe in any American suffering from want.
You may say that I believe in the way it was after the Politicians, law givers and Priest's killed the Son of God.
You need to see that once these people claimed Christ they changed their ways and found none in want.
It is un-natural of man not to love his brother and sister.

So, how did we get here in the first place?
How is it that those who have the greatest wealth deem it that others should suffer as most now do?

God's way is not our way.

The people where not to charge interest if they had the ability to lend to others and these others had the responsibility to truly be in need.
God knew then what we have just seen, that lending to unworthy people with interest would eventually bankrupt the lenders do to people not being able to pay off loans that they should never of gotten (that being in credit cards and mortgages) He new mans heart when it came to covetousness. We have been given fake money and thus we would only spend more of it, thinking that we deserve all we see. This is world wide. Money truly is the root of all Evil.
God knew we should not War (Murder) but as with money we don't care.

God in is wisdom knew man would be as this. With the people he chose from all others he knew to that they would default with heavy borrowing even with no interest so He commanded a year of Jubilee every 50 years.
All debts were forgiven and the value of what your worth was in the present day (GDP) would be what you had in the Bank.
That's every Nation as far as I can see, for all have followed the money trail to destruction.

It is now in our grasp to set a New World straight on Finance.

The Uber Rich should be made to pay their share if they wish to remain in the countries thay abide in or profit from.
In order to be fair Americans have made their own grave and have made the entire world to lay in it.
So now the collapse will come for it is predicted that a great calamity will come upon the World and I as a Prophet say it is the Financial Horseman of Death.
Look at Africa. Look to Appalacia look all around here in America.
If as American claim to have the Blessing of God (ownership) then why do we not do what the Beattitudes tell us?
Main reason is our own Covetousness blinds the many who have it in their power to be rational and caring of others.
We do not care for any in our country and if you don't you don't belong here for your alien of nature to anything Human.
I ask not forgiveness from God, to call upon Him to curse those who have and refuse to help those who have not

You must end all the Murders overseas. You must close the 1000 oversea Military Bases. You must not pledge to a graven image before you pledge to God if you expect Him to Bless you and none other.

The poor will always be with us and so to the Rich. That is a fact. But it is no ones right to have any suffer when one would be so blessed as to have 40 Billion dollars and to what extent does it gain you to gain the whole world and lose your own soul.
The Rich ahave their reward in the here and now, but nothing but despair in the life to come when they have not their money with them. We live in a temporary state of flesh and this to will end. We are Born to Die. But we are Born to Love.
My rebuke goes to those who claim one party over another at that loss of ones own soul.
Yes it is the Soul involved here and don't be mistaken.
Men should not wish to lose their soul in order not to LOVE his brothers and sisters.
Would you if in need just sit on the street and not beg?
I was Homeless do to no fault of mine at 13. Now 57 and mankind has only gotten worse towards the treatment of his own kind.
It makes me sick to think by causing 14 million children here in the USA from being able to have a roof and a meal a day is a curse being examined by our judge (GOD) I know the feeling of begging for food. I would go to Churches after they met and beg them as they left and only to be turned out.
Damn all who refuse to help the helpless.
That is any Political Party.
I see Fascist Corporate Power more now then any time in my history on this now. the forbidden Planet.

Respectfully Rev Ray G%^&#*.

May all Fascist die, for they are against my God and all of my family the Human Race.

The fact of the Tea Parties lack of understanding the folly of their ways is demonstrative of their colossal ignorance, and their stubbornness to accept reality is an example of their own adherence to dogma, similar to religious fanatics, that veils any reason from entering their minds.

WOW! This statement alone sounds like it could have been uttered by the Royal British Family at the inception of our country.

What part of "WE ARE BROKE" do you not understand?

You can insult the "Tea" party till the cows come home but you are not going to be able to go against the grain of the MAJORITY, yes MAJORITY of the American people because the Tea Party, contrary to popular belief, is not JUST Republicans, it also consists of Democrats, Libertarians and Independents. People that believe in our Constitution. Real people with real families, real bills and real payments. They know, you can't get blood from a stone so quit trying to wring some out.

In the end, I think the world will be GRATEFUL to the American PEOPLE and marvel, once again, at OUR will.
