there are two extremes here.... the cops were wrong and the cops did nothing wrong.

both of them are wrong in my opinion. the cops were right but wrong to leave him to die without trying to save his life. the judge passes judgement not the police, the police should not beable to decide who they let die and who they do not.

but having said that it is the only thing i think they did wrong.

there seems to be a gun at the scene, the guy was wanted or suspected of murder, and he was shooting at police.
if the police applied first aid sooner then i would say they were flawless, other than loosing the evidence for a while (gun).

The San Francisco Chronicle says the man had recently been released from a prison in Washington after serving time for convictions stemming from a King County sex offense.

Evades police
Parolee (in violation for being out of state)

All police are corrupt. It doesn't matter if this guy had it coming because the second this all passes they'll all go back to their corrupt careers just like they had minutes before this incident.

Let me break it down for you (not that you will ever understand): at the time the cops didn't know 100% that he was unarmed. If I was a cop, I would have put a few more slugs in him to be sure. But they didn't do that. They waited a bit to see if he made any threatening moves then took action.

But hey, I agree it is easy to turn your brain off and surrender yourself to a cell phone video that requires serious understanding. I would expect nothing more than the majority around here.....and fools wonder why we are constantly marginalized.......

This incident occurred just blocks from my house. I had just been through there a couple hours if that, earlier. There was a public church service going on at that very plaza. I remember it being very loud and commenting on the volume. I also remember telling my partner, something was amiss. Sure enough, upon returning from seeing Harry Potter... well, the video tells the story.

I am USUALLY pro law enforcement and anyone that has read anything that I have ever written will know this to be true. There is something HORRIBLY WRONG with the Police account of this story.

First of all, as a frequent user of San Francisco's "MUNI" transit system, I can tell you that fare evasion is so common that the bus/train drivers don't and I swear on a stack of Bibles.. they DON'T care if you pay or not.

2nd, Muni has fare police on SOME lines. From personal experience, I can tell you they NEVER carry guns ,let alone fire them, unless they are actual SF PD.

For what? FARE EVASION? REALLY! and this 19 year old kid. criminal though he MAY or MAY NOT have been, he did NOT deserve this. shot ... IN THE BACK WHILE EVADING! DONT THESE COPS HAVE A LEMONADE STAND TO GO BUST?

The victim in this shooting, was the cousin of the victim at the Fruitvale BART station and those who have access to that video which I hope I can locate, will note that he was sitting right next to his cousin when he was MURDERED by that sorry excuse for a "cop" who thought his gun was a stun gun.

Word has it that he had an active lawsuit against the police and now... he too is dead. Executed....

THIS is what its come down to. God help us when even our law enforcement thinks it is above the law...

In my opinion, the bad guy was shot in the chest, probably a lung and heart shot. If only one lung was hit, he might last for about 20 minutes. A two lung hit, or a lung and heart hit would be about three minutes. Otherwise, the best thing for the police officers to do, would be to pick up the dying man, put him in a police car, and rush him to the hospital. Thats a losing proposition, because the guy is dead but he don't know it.

Ever hear the old saying "Don't bring a knife to a gunfight"? If you are subject to the use of deadly force the only response is deadly force.

Impact munitions have a max effective range well short of an actual bullet. In order to utilize them the officers would have to close with the suspect, contain him in a relatively static and limited area and then utilize something that is designed to disperse crowds (i.e. not inflict a disabling injury) on someone cranking off rounds at them.

Again- this is not a video game or a Hollywood movie. This is reality.

Also, I am appalled at how people are already convicting him of murder elsewhere, without knowing ANYTHING about THAT case. MAYBE it was mistaken identity, MAYBE it was a false accusation against him. MAYBE HE REALLY WAS GUILTY.
