I thought CX hit it on the head. I don't see the problem with not being forced to pay for others if you have no control of what they do with that money. I'm of the opinion welfare recipients should all be drug tested and pass before they can recieve a check. They should not be allowed to drink alcohol, smoke, eat fattening foods, have cell phones or procreate. If they want or expect others to pay for them then the people doing the paying need to have some say in how the recipients use the money given to them to live on. If they think they have a right to have all of those things then they need to work for it and buy it for themselves without the help of our (the taxpayers) money. Thats how it works in the real world folks. This isn't a CareBear Movie.

My two cents -

Violence, at this stage in their movement, is dangerous, savage, and just plain stupid. Something like this topic of overcharging students based on the greed of a few elderly men who think that, since they had to pay, the next generation has to pay even more is easily resolved through strong political movements, demonstrations, and showing other people who may not have had contact with any sort of colleges that their children are being robbed.

I knew many rich kids in my high school that were just shipped off to college and didn't even look at the bill, leaving ( as always ) us middle kids to pick up the pieces and show the world what is really going on.

So because the cost to attend college is going up the students have the right to destroy property? Makes no sence at all. If they really want to make a point, they should all drop out. The loss in revenue would be so significant the costs would have to come back down. Someone has to pay for the property that was destroyed now and it will be factored into the cost of tuition so they just did more harm than good.

Oil spill was accidental, War was in retaliation to terrorists, Wall street greed is just that, greed and it is never acceptable to intentionally destroy someones life. You don't have to buy products engineered by Monsanto, Maybe I am missing something here but are you saying they are destroying your lives by raising the cost of college tuition? How is that? I quit drinking and smoking because it is a waste of my money and times are tough. It's called sacrifice, going without some things in order to have other things. It's called being responsible.

Well when you introduce social dogma into a society and pay for things you can not at some point and time you have to stop spending you have to cut something. These whining brats need to put there big boy pants on GO GET A JOB and help pay for their own college. They are not entitled to free college or really really cheap college if it is such a problem instead of spending so much time whining and destroying things take your ass to the local corner store and pay for the tuition.

I don't have lots of $$$ and i work hard for every dollar I make. I don't feel I should be forced to pay for someone elses lack of drive and initiative or laziness so they can get drunk, smoke cigs, and make babies because they have nothing else better to do. People like that are a drain on society and I have no compassion for them. The ones willing to work will rise up and the rest will lay down and die. Thats how it is in nature.

I would agree with you but it is not that simple.

Still angry from yet another sleaze event where politicians defrauded the country yet not one is in jail. The great unwashed (British public) were promised a new politics by Clegg. One of fairness. One of honesty and a promise to put the power back in the hands of the public. This won him many votes he would otherwise not have received.

He also promised the students and potential students that they would oppose any rise in student fees.

They formed a coalition with those they had painted as the devil and have broken every promise made. Backed up every half baked cut back the Tories have put forward, all that are aimed at ringing every penny from the poorest in society.

In the UK the ballot box has no power. They blacken any action by reporting on the actions of a few whilst ignoring the reasons for the action taken by the majority.

Frustrations have caused some to act rashly. I promise you that when a person or a group of people have no voice and feel unjustly treated then violence is the usual outcome. Crushing a mob is easy. Stopping a movement is much harder and if they continue to run roughshod over people’s rights then the greater the violence will become.

On that issue you are bang on right. Too many dossers and layabouts here in the UK who prefer dole to work.

There is also a word for denying people rights just because you feel they are not justified and they are not in a position to stop you. Read your post on it and the word may come to you.

If you can't afford to goto college then don't go or get a loan and do go. College isn't a prerequisit to getting a job and starting a career. Those folks are apparently used to having things given to them. You know what is given can be taken away so why not take it upon yourslef to do for yourself, then there is nothing that can be taken away.

Of course people need healthcare and i'm not a monster who would deny healthcare to those truely in need. You do realise hospitals will allow people to pay off bills, I had no insurance when my first child was born and guess what, i made payments till the bill was paid off. Anyway, people can choose to buy the insurance coverage they want at a price they want. Where people get off that the government (i.e. the taxpayers) owe them something because they feel they are entitled to it is beyond belief.

And what "RIGHTS" do you say people have? According to our forefathers they have the right to "pursue happiness" not a right "to happiness", They have a right to be the best they can be, they have a right to choose what they want to be in life, nowhere does it say these things are free.

Comparing me to Hitler is just an ignorant statement. I don't care what color your skin is or what religon or sexual orientation you are. We are all the same, we may not have all had the same opportunities in life (i was not born to a wealthy family and I am not wealthy myself) but I had the freedom to choose my path and work as hard as i had to to reach my goals. I hear you, but...violent protests don't work. They don't. If you were in government would you say 'okay, these people are violent now so lets do what they want'? No, of course you wouldn't, and you would be daft if you did because guess what - you would get a lot more violent protests as a result.

I don't know what the answer is but it isn't this.
