We're doomed! DOOMED I tell you!

Well, not so much. Even if you're a liberal Democrat, there's a bright side. The GOP only controls the House of Representatives. The Democrats still hold the presidency and the Senate. The GOP will have more ability to directly influence the legislative agenda now, but the balance of power still leans Democrat. The GOP certainly doesn't have the power right now to repeal anything that passed the last two years.

In the end, this result just gives the Republicans the ability to effectively force bipartisanship if anything is to get done.

This is the proof that god has a huge sense of humors lol, cant talk about politics and not get people all wired up, using the constitution, there right to free speach, there gun laws lol

Its just too fuuny, the republicans got the USA in this mighty mess, and now they blame it on Obama, dudes a friggen scape goat, too much, the same people that couldent stand bush and is war, are now probably voting republicans cause the MSM told them Obama is bad lol.

You gotta love humour, oh and plz no slurs or take down remarks, it just lowers the hole point of a debate.

Oh and can you guys answer me this, how did big bad Obama got the US in deeper doo doo, seriously, you guys really think he decides what goes lol, there all the same money grabing pigs, making sure they get fed before anybody else has a slice of the pie

Did you ever stop to think the reason why these things aren't covered in the constitution is because they didn't exist back then? Jefferson said the constitution should be revised every 20 years had we done this most of the things like health care would be in it.

The first order of business will be the Republicans fighting like dogs to keep the tax cuts for the billionaires and millionaires. I hope Obama the wimp doesn’t cave and cut taxes for the rich which always leads to bad economic results.

Then there will be gridlock

Vor, I'd like to respectfully disagree with your statement. The dems hold on the U.S. Senate is not as rosy as you portray.

In 2012, 33 Senate seats will be up for re-election. Of those 33, 21 are currently held by democrats, 2 by independent whom caucus with the dems and only 10 Republican seats will be in play.

If yesterday's results prove one thing it would be the American people's utter disdain for a liberal government. These Democratic Senators will be running for their political lives over the next two years. You can bet they are going to sever their umbillical cords currently attached to this president. Look what aligning with him has done so far.

I think the most shocking results have come at the state level. Yeah it's like watching minor league baseball, but these elections have far greater impact on our daily lives then the national campaigns. The republican swell on the state levels was historic, meaning never before has this country seen so many republican controlled state legislatures.

Well that said, I'm not going to gloat (much!) but I will say it may be time for the minority, in this case the Liberal Democrats, to start thinking about their mindsets. The majority of Americans made clear yesterday that they are completely opposed to the far left.

I agree with you. I'm just saying that the Democrats still maintain the presidency and a Senate majority. Like you, however, I agree that they've got major problems moving forward and that 2012 could be just as bad for them.

Personally, I'm quite happy with the results. Like you, I think its a complete repudiation of the Democrats' liberal policies and of their attitude towards mainstream America. Just when I had almost lost faith in the American people, they did the right thing and took out the trash last night.

The Democrats had the votes in both the House and the Senate to pass anything they wanted without a single Republican vote. The problem was they they couldn't even get all of their own members to sign onto some of the garbage that they either passed or attempted to pass.

It wasn't the GOP's job to rubber stamp the Democrats agenda, anyway. They have their own beliefs about governance and if the Democrats' agenda ran counter that (and much of it did) they were right to oppose it.
