Yeah, I'm "saying stuff".
I said a lot about how I came to my conclusions. The most powerful tool of it all was common sense, knowledge of some sick people, just natural knowledge of people in general.

I could find several little links supporting porn being bad for your brain...but that's kind of what everyone is doing...it's really boring.

I could also find links saying porn is better than sex and find things about an abnormal sandwich.

Is porn being unhealthy for your brain actually a new concept?
And is the theory that it could motivate rape really too far fetched?
I made the mistake of putting in my thread that rape has increased without farther explaining my thoughts.

First off, porn makes too much money to come out smelling like anything other than a rose...
second off, the steady growth in population makes it easier to make a statistic appear lower.

I think its ok, but it does become an issue when people start developing an unhealthy obsession with it. For some couples, its actually ruined, and even ended , formerly stable relationships!

In moderation its fine, but there is a line that can be crossed

You haven't given me any evidence that porn can't cause someone to rape someone else...although there's evidence that several rapists enjoy watching porn.

No it is a old idea, a old out dated idea.
Research that has been done shows that porn does not increase rape cases. Hell no research has to be done like you said lets use common sense. We know porn is a lot (A LOT) more common with the internet. Now go find STATS showing rape or violent crimes in general. I will wait here for your return.

These are stats this is not the media's opinion, nor mine. This is just numbers of rapes and violent crimes from year to year.

You seem to have it in your head that porno is "morally" wrong so it should have some nasty side effect.

If what you are saying is even remotely true North America would most likely raped and pillaged itself to death years ago, we really like our porn and we really really like internets porno. So you should have no problem finding reliable numbers showing your case. (numbers not opinions)

Yeah, you probably have noticed a lot of that.
Just simple social issues with a man feeling awkward from it, guilt even.
He can also simply view his wife differently, and that could lead to a few problems down the road.

And you have those situations where a couple watches porn together for extra stimulation.
This can cause trust issues.

It also makes one or both sides of the couple realize that the other is not simply content with just their one partner.

I get what you're saying. It's really the addiction of pornography that could poison the mind.

Yeah, same with First Person Shooter, since they became popular, youth violence in the USA went down. But that isn't interesting, most people are rather interesting in screaming how bad everything is and how it will screw up people.

With Porn, i think we have to look at what kind of porn movie it is. A simple sex scene shouldn't be shocking, not even for a kid. I see more a problem with violent porn. There are tons and tons of fake-rape videos out there and they go all the same way: 1 to 10 people assault a woman, she screams, she cries, they rape her and suddenly she thinks it's #ing awesome. Now the acting on them is sometimes very crude, but that doesn't matter. I can see how watching that stuff can screw up people and even kids who think "hey, she enjoys it and it looks like fun i have to try it".
But then again, people were raped, decades and even centuries before porn was around.

I say it that way: Violent lies in the human nature. I think it's more about how people grew up, how they were raised by their parents. A normal kid who plays a violent video game doesn't turn into a terrorist and a normal kid who watches porn (and we all know that a lot of if not most kids watch porn and it's not something new, that has been the norm since 20-30 years) doesn't turn into a rapist. It's mostly the kids who either are mentally ill from the beginning or grew up under certain bad conditions who turn into the crap that lives in the prisons around the world.
I have nothing against porn, except for those fake-rape movies and of course all the sick crap with children and animals, that just shouldn't be produced.

But i have to wonder: Why does sex gets so demonized on this site? Sex is natural, it's fun, it's a great thing. But on this site are always tons of topics against all kinds of sex, how it turns people into monsters, how it is so bad.....crazy.

I personally dont feel that porn has influenced rape at all, now I dont know about the womens perspective but i hope some guys can back me up on this that most of the porn exists in the mind. For example how many times would you say that you have gone to a website and looked for something as opposed to pleasing yourself while thinking of the girl on reception or your girlfriends best friend. dont mean to be crude.
Porn dates back longer than tv, for example there was the burlesque shows that for the time were the nations strip tease and i cant remember where it was but I remember seeing dirty drawings that are years old even before that. The only diffirence now is that censorship has reduced so much that most tv show and films have today what 50 years ago would have been considered filth and also the internet has allowed specific sites for all diffirent tastes.

Personally I think that the modern media and dont stone me for this but the rap culture and gang culture has influenced rape more than anything, yes i may sound old but im only 29 and i can see the changes in kids today, the values and respect seem none existent [while ironicaly they all demand respect].
Its sad but even though we went through all the womens rights troubles and made real progress the media continues to portray women as cheap, even when they try to make them seem strong and indipendant ie shows like sex in the city the underlying message is to treat them like a whore, for example could you see yourself having respect for kim catrall or sarah jessica parker? [ the character obviously not the actreses] because i know that I couldnt. And other celebs really damage the image of women in mens eyes like my girlfriend watches a channel called E and its filled with reality shows about the kardashians and some chick called kendra plus more ex playboy chicks and in the uk the tv is filled with the god awfull "jordan" or jodie marsh and sorry to say it but all these girls are just vacuous idiots who really do not help the image of women that i think should be portrayd. Lets face it would you want your sisters or daughter to turn out like jordan or kim kardashian I know I wouldnt.

As for kids watching porn I think its fine though by kids i mean teenagers, masturbation is normal and healthy[ as opposed to the catholic view of "bad things happen cause you touch yourself at night"] . The more liberal the view you give your kids the better as it does prepare them and hopefully make it easier for them to ask questions, and when they are growing up they will play with htemselve and it wont damage them because when they meet someone and have sex with them they will have a deep and meaningfull relationship hopefully.
And as far as porn damaging real sex never, because once again I need some back up here guys. You can be in love you can have a passionate night of love making while looking into each others eyes , embracing each other and feel all the emotions that love brings, ..... But ill bet money that when your done youre still quickly knocking one out to that hot girl on reception while ur girlfriend is in the bathroom.

Oh I watched a couple of movies that were actual stories - they were of course predictable... but funny.
The ones nowadays don't have stories... so is a real turn off.

Besides that, a few people I just showed this thread to reckon porn isn't dangerous, porn keeps weirdos off the street and at home masturbating...instead of being a fiend on the street!

I agree that modern porn in its infinite forms is altering our social and mental development slightly but I do not think it is inherently a negative thing. It is cultural evolution and frankly inevitable. Porn is and always will be.

Take away our guns, take away our freedoms but there will be rioting in the streets if they take away our porn.
