I appreciate your remarks, I don't ALWAYS agree with how you think, but I usually agree with the message of getting along with one another. I don't beleive the supreme being watched everything we do. I think we are given free will, which means as we all are different, we can all achieve good things in MANY different ways.

As for your detractors, well I think some people can't look directly at themselves, therefore what you say disturbs them.

It is wonderful that you don't agree with everything I say my friend. If you did, what would I have to gauge my words off of? Disagreement is there simply to refine ones own thoughts. I learn more from those who I disagree with than those who agree with me fully.

As for the Supreme Being watching everything we do, well this depends on ones concept of the Supreme Being. To imagine it as something detached from the human condition, it does seem spectacular to presume that each and everyone of us merits watching at all times. However, I believe the Supreme Being is everywhere at once. It is spread out right before our eyes in this wonderful existence. Most importantly of all though, is that the divine intellect, the mind behind all of this creation, is right inside of each and everyone of us. It is not only watching us, but interacting with us, reaching out hoping for recognition. It is heard as that little whisper deep within which is always there but often ignored.

Some call this a conscience, and I suppose if left to that, that is all it will remain. However, have you ever tried to communicate with that little voice? Surely we have all been taken to a point of desperation in our lives where we humbly asked within ourselves, "What do I do now?". I have, and the results were most positive. I have since built a relationship with this divine spark within me. It is where I turn to for guidance and inspiration. It has lead me without fail to a blissful existence. It has made me realise that when I talk to another human being, I am addressing another manifestation of God. Thus, I try to treat all with that humble courtesy one should share when communing with their creator. Most are unaware of the divinity within them, thus they do not see it in others. But, imagine a world where we all KNEW that within everyone we meet, was God. Not that the person is God mind you for they are mostly ego, but beyond that, deep within, is the fire of creation, the life giving spark.

The Kingdom of God IS within you.

You are correct! But if they only knew! What lies within them is not something to fear but something to be amazed at. It is something to be revered. It is something to be LOVED! My God can people be so blind to not see the kingdom of God within, and his heaven laid out before our eyes!

It will come. All in due time.

Thank you for sharing my friend. Pardon my brief rant. You inspired me.

Your Brother

Being aware of what one eats...and that what we eat holds or held 'life'...the very same force of 'life' that is within you, and understanding this perfect circle for what it is (life must have life, to live) holds its own mysteries and wisdom's. Each food holds an energy...if you had to always look the animal in the eyes, kill it yourself, to gain your food....you would learn this wisdom and what its worth.

Spectacular. I love the whole post but this is so pertinent and necessary in these times.

I am so happy to see more and more children today conscientiously objecting to eating meat.
And I read about the "life force" in food and think this holds some truth also. We replenish and restore our own "matrix" of living matter with other atoms that also possess a life force within them as opposed to dead matter and with it, all that the creature has endured.

Bill Clinton said a plant based diet saved his life and improved his physique.

I know an old guy who is a chef, who was born in an orphanage and never fed meat until his late teens.
He does not remain a vegetarian out of any special love for animals. When he finally tried eating meat it made him very sick. He doesn't eat meat because his body will not tolerate it. And he was a golden gloves boxer in his teens - a vegan diet did him no harm.

If it were vital for our survival I might understand the slaughter of helpless beasts
but it is in fact quite detrimental, some would argue even life shortening (due to toxins-cholesterol concerns) and still we brutally murder innocent fellow creatures, who have feelings and families...just to satisfy a craving for flesh. This HAS to be some kind of a karma killer.

"Heaven" for me... has lots of animals in it.
I just think they are all so beautiful and miraculous.
If they are not there with me I don't think I even want to go.

You will probably be eating your parents and your children.

Not a republican by any chance are you? They also eat their young.

Do you have your heretic gun ready?

Christ died on the cross to teach what sin was.

...interesting!... I kind of think that Christ died on the cross to show us what sin was not... course you could mean exactly that with your wording as well I think...

Yep, this is why language is a faulty method of communication, in my opinion of course.

Sin is NOT loving your fellow man enough to die on a cross for him to understand you love him unconditionally.

Sin is needing your fellow man to die on a cross to understand he loved you unconditionally.

it does start with us, and hardly anyone wants to take responsibility because they are ashamed of who they are or what they have done, so sad to live like that
one day though huh?

its just shows that many people still suffer and continue to feed that suffering even at the same time of wanting to be rid of that suffering

When I post on ATS I am usually sitting on my back porch enjoying the weather and scenery. It is quite peaceful and allows me to compose my thoughts clearly. Today is a beautiful sunny day with a pleasant gentle breeze. This is how I have been sitting when I read your message and began to think of a reply.

In my fathers back yard he has a bird house which sits high up on a pole. Squirrels have taken it over for their home. As I was thinking of a reply, I heard a ruckus at the squirrel house. I looked over to see a squirrel carrying a baby squirrel. It jumped to a near by tree and carried it off to some unseen destination for feeding. I began to think again of what to type. Then I heard the sound at the squirrel house again. The squirrel had returned to carry off another baby squirrel. Even now the squirrel has returned to carry off another young.

What is God telling me?

You can only carry one at a time. Some will have to come last, worry about the ones you can carry now. The others will be there when you get the first to the destination.

I love nature.

With Love,

Your Brother

Hello my friend,

I wanted to thank you yesterday fro a wonderful post. I kinda got side tracked though. I had never heard of Greyfriars Bobby. So, I had to research it to find out what it was all about. What a lovely story to include in the discussion of animal souls. It brightened my day to read about the faithful little pooch. I have an American Bulldog named Elvis. He is less than 2 years old but already weighs in at about 90 pounds. I have seen his loyalty tested and know without a doubt he would lay down his life for me. Curiously, I wondered how many would lay down their lives for their faithful pet? I hope if ever faced with the decision, I would show equal fidelity to him as he has shown to me. These are the lessons we are to learn from them, as they learn to live more peacefully with us.

I do love animals. Thank you for bringing them up n the discussion.

With Love,

Your Brother

On this topic... Here is a quote to remember..

*whispers* Can you tell I love dogs?

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion!

No matter what anyone says there is nothing thats going to happen in the near future. We wake up everyday seeing and experiencing the same world and garbage over and over in our life. If it has been unchanged for decades, why should it change now. The thread author states that we need to wake up and see the change and love. Its great, fine but its not untold before.

This is not something new. Its been told for years but the truth is- 'Nothing is happening' out there that is going to change our society.

you know... I wasn't going to comment.. but then I changed my mind.

Just something to ponder..

How do you / we KNOW that nothing is going to happen in the near future.

WE / YOU do not.

I'm not sure which world your seeing and experiencing that's staying the same... cause each time I read the news there are massive increases in horrific crimes (and yes...this is recorded statistically), earthquakes and other catastrophic events happening a few times a month, these just to name a few.

The whole dynamic of "The World As We Know It" IS changing. Right before everyones eyes.
The craziest thing is that people still "stick their heads in the sand"

If nothing truly does happen to stop our / humanity's recklessness I dread the thought of what might ensue.

Which catastrophic event / happening are you waiting for before you realize the time is now?

Name "it"... then realize when it comes true that "your" sign happened so you would believe.

The message stands true - just as true as it stood 2010 years ago.
2010 years...and we still bicker about "Loving our neighbour as ourselves"
Comical really

That is only if you think people reincarnate as animals. I don't. It even says in the good book that in the last days people will take to strange things like being vegetarian and avoiding marriage. I think that it implies that there's nothing wrong with eating meat.

Nope, libertarian.

My friend,

I don't think there is anything wrong with eating meat. I think there are better ways, both for man and beast, to find sustenance. Putting the spiritual aside for a moment, lets take a brief look at the economics of eating meat. The grain input to raising meat products far surpasses the food product output of a slaughtered animal. Add to the product, the vast quantities of water, and you will find that an enormous amount of resources go into raising meat to eat. Currently, Americans eat more meat than anywhere on this planet. We are in love with it.

Meat has always been a status food. The wealthier you are, the more meat you consumed, because you could afford its outrageous cost to produce. The problem is, the rest of the world is wanting to partake in this diet with us. Thus, meat is being produced in more and more places at the extremely high cost of water supplies and grain fields. It will not be long, if we continue, that the Human population will exceed the sustainability of this practice. What good is that juicy T-bone, if you have not a drop of fresh water left to wash it down with? Your body can survive without the beef, but not without the water.

Furthermore, those vast amounts of grain that went into feeding that T-bone, could have fed many more humans, who instead were left starving for your luxury.

As for the Bible, I have already stated time and again that my belief is it contains as much evil as it does good. It is merely the interpretations that twist the matter.

" 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer."

Anyone with any reason and logic and a bit of knowledge of herding could have made this prediction. As a population expands past the point of being able to be sustained in one practice, of course some will come to say that this practice should be done away with. It is common sense my friend, not some divine insight from the author of this passage. Yet it is worded in a way to maintain control over those who believe the author. "Beware those wicked bad men who might point out the error of our ways!"

No, it is better to keep eating the meat, while the rest of our Brothers starve for our pleasure. That book is truly diabolical.

Now for the record, I DO eat meat. However, I recognise that we need to find a better way of sustaining ourselves. Meat is not healthy for the body, costs too many resources to produce, and is an unsustainable diet for the ballooning population.

With Love,

Your Brother
