You haven't lost a friend, she is still here, just had a really nice makeover!

It's all there, and more, explore it, give it a chance.

You see this as minimalist?

That's interesting.

I see noise and nonsense.

Now that the colors have taken a step back from the vomit threshold I notice the fonts. They remind me of fake spam articles you see spread out through internet 'news' rather than an actual article of substance.

Like "Regrow hair now!" and "She'll love another 3 inches."

that is why I stay clear from complicated sites that makes you click and click until you just get lost trying to find what you want or just end up giving up

Where are you seeing duplicates?

The effort here has been to consolidate many areas that had dual purposes and sometimes duplicate pieces of content. Especially in a consistent menu across the entire site that is aware of a member's logged-in status no matter what page you visit.

But since this is a very large project with a very small staff (1!), some items may have been missed.

No, I don't see this new design as minimalist, I see it as such based on the previous incarnation. To be heading in this direction when everyone else is heading in the opposite is curious.

....I am so lost right now with trying to find my favorite topics and forum that every time I clink a new link is nothing but duplicates of ever thing.

Marg, what's happened is things are more accessible now. You can get to the places you want to go from several different venues. The last thing they want is for us to miss threads, so they put them out there for us in a variety of ways. Use the drop down menus ---!

Just hang around for a day or two, and get used to the changes, and engage with them. Won't be long until you'll forget all about the old look.
I have been here since the initial roll-out, and I'm liking it more everyday.

Maybe things are more accessible. I wouldnt know. I never 'accessed' anything in the few years Ive been visiting other than "recent posts" and my "public profile."

The loss of colored subjects and the new font and attempt at fading colors in the background only make these things more difficult for me to read. I have to resort to tricks and blocks to make things legible and still my eyes strain.

I havent the best eyes in the world and my prescription is pretty thick but something is wrong when a site is perfectly readable and navigable one day and a horrible headache inducing mess the next.

More revisions highlighted in the change log on the opening post. The menu colors have been refined.

Color scheme is defiantly better...for my eyes anyway. I do consider it an improvement over the green.

I just noticed YouTube embeds are broken (I even checked ones that previous worked) but the directly links work. I don't know about Google Video.

Well it seems that some of what I call "duplicates" have been "fixed", when I first log into ATS today and I try to find my favorite forums, conspiracies, politics and current events, as I click on it, it look like the same topics where on the "members pick" I guess my frustration of the new look on the forums individual pages fog my mind.

Now as I look around again the topics has changed.

But still the individual pages for the forums is overwhelming me as I try to scan for a topic. . .

And the adverstisment on the pages is something that I have to get use to now. . .

These changes are really unbareable:

first the huuuuge blue links above and then in recents posts I cant quickly discern in which forums the diff. posts were posted.

You have to read the small print to make out what the forums are. Before that I could quickly at first glance automatically see in which forums the recents posts were and quickly choose those that intrested me

now it takes to long

I guess I will have to stay away from the forum bottom because is giving me a headache right now.

I will stick with the recent posts and members tool to get to my ATS for now.

I have not been here since last week so all the changes took me by surprise today. . .

When you say "forum bottom," what are you referring to?

The "forums" menu on the top this page.

The "forums" menu on the top this page.

That button is simply easier, persistent access to the forum overview pages, which we've had for over three years.

For example, on the board home, members will see this link for the Breaking Alternative News forum:
www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/1/pg1/srtpages

Non-members see this link on the board home and in the forums menu:
www.abovetopsecret.com/Breaking_Alternative_News.php

The summary pages have been exceptionally successful for two areas:
1) for those unfamiliar with ATS, it's a more digestible format than the forum thread list
2) for members keeping track of a specific forum, it's a concise overview of what's currently happening

Thanks for taking the time and explaining even when I know that change is here and is nothing I can do about it.

Still I am one of those people that once I get cozy with something is hard to brake away from the old ways. . .

Thank you for easing off on that abrupt colour change. I truly appreciate it. I will get used tot he format, it's new I'll adjust. But that colour was.. something else entirely.

I still like the idea of options to lighten or darken, just with the new stuff instead.

On a different note, what happened to the "top" button?

So far everything looks good.

It did take me a sec or two to figure out where the “My ATS” button got moved to since I use it more than the “Recent Posts” button. The “My ATS” button fits well under the “Member Tools” area.

I can’t wait to see the completed product.
