I just noticed there doesn't appear to be any sort of character limit when writing up posts/threads.

Does this mean It's been disabled and we can have an unlimited amount of characters in any one post?

(For now) Yes.

Because the new, completely rewritten code is much more efficient, there are no limitations on character count.

I'm really enjoying all the changes and improvements made to the site. Thanks to you and all the others who worked on it.

No

I can reply but I can't see the preview even after I click it, very strange, worked fine before.

One more added feature in the new reply form is that members receive private message notifications of replies to your posts. These go into a new "replies" box accessible from the new private message tool which should go live next week.

Ah, now the mysterious "editby" tag that I've been seeing on posts for a few months makes sense... it's been from the beta-testers of the 2010 site...

I really miss the "MyATS" toolbar button. I know there's a dropdown menu with it on, but it's a personal thing we all have here isn't it and nice to see on every page.

There's plenty of space up there.

Really liking the cool backgrounds btw, much better than obama.

And welcome back to:

deny ignorance ...seeing that makes me VERY happy. A statement to be proud of.

I would have to say I would prefer a straight logo up top but hey.....can't judge a book by the cover can ya?

Coming along nicely and can even see (feel) great improvements daily. Was skeptical at first sight and use (lol), but I'm sure TPTB are busy scanning stats to see what is and isn't creating or losing interest. At the end of the day, ATS for me could look like anything and as long as the minds that fill it remain cool then I'm happy being part of it. Even when the biggest dork on our planet can post the dumbest thread.

cheers

ps: there's no "inbox" on the toolbar so do we still get a message alert somewhere that is always visible? Someone message me to show me..lol

What percentage of site transition is done do you estimate? How much is there to go (in percentage) do you estimate?
Thanks.

OK, I'll post it here then:

Curiosity killed the cat.

Since the new formatting came out, there have been a lot of fancy new bells and whistles on the site to check out. One of them is the little red minus sign next to every post on the "Recent posts" page: (-)

I never saw this before so I decided to press it to see if it got rid of one really annoying thread.

Well, it worked alright; it got rid of that thread AND all of the other ones in the "Skunk Works" forum.

Not exactly what I was hoping for.

Now, I need to know how to undo what I have done. I see that I can click "show removed forums" whenever I check on the recent posts but, with my slow internet connection, this can be very time consuming.

Is there any way to undo this permenantly?

HELLLLP!!!

Greeneyedleo responded:

This has been addressed on the ongoing monitored thread ATS 2010 Updates Thread

Any further issues regarding the 2010 changeover should be posted in that thread.

To restore the forum, go to RECENT POSTS
At the top of the forum where the page numbers are you will see:
Pages: 1, 2, 3, 4 , ALL - staff show removed forums
Click on show removed forums

I already tried that, its only a temporary fix. I would have to press that every time I checked the recent posts page.

I was wondering if there was any way I could undo this permanently?

LOL I did the same thing--the first day it changed over, I thought; "Hmm, what's this (-) do?"

I've been wondering how to undo that in a permanent way also.

I have just been assuming that the "(-) undo" is still on its way, to be something like the ignore feature.

And now hearing that this is only about 30% of the changes so far makes me think it IS on its way.

btw 70% more to come!! wow

Once you're in the "show removed forums" view, find a thread from the forum you accidentally removed. There should be a + sign next to it (or something like that, maybe there's a label). That will add the forum back into your default view.

How do I know? I did the same thing you did

I did it and it worked!

Had to bump an old thread to get it up there but, it's all fixed now.

Thanks.

I find the best way to stop feeling silly about something I've done is to do something even more clueless. I stop worrying about the first thing right away
