September 23rd, an important update regarding the new menu system is in this post

After the launch of the new "top-tier" pages last week, we're going to begin phasing-in some of the new pages within the discussion board area.

Relatively soon, we'll be cutting-over the new Board Home and Recent Posts pages... together with the "convergence" of ATS and BTS to one domain under abovetopsecret.com... and BTS will heretofore be known as "Off Topic" discussion.

Stay tuned.

It's nice to have a specific thread for all of these updates. Hopefully people in this thread understand that the 2010 site is a work in progress.

Great work so far, I'm loving the new look, can't wait to have the thread pages set up with all the new features as well.

Any time frame on when that particular swap is going to occur? I assume the merger of BTS/ATS is taking precendence over everything else at this moment though.

Hmm, I am curious if the whole trip with a separate PTS and then its reintegration into ATS when it didn't do enough traffic is prompting you to integrate ATS and BTS? To increase traffic to BTS? Or what? Easier to code under one domain with the same CSS's?

But what about speed and how that will affect the site? Your reason for removing the views column was an increase in speed, which to me never really happened. It might have for a bit right after, but it's slower now than at any time I can remember. Slower now than previously when we HAD the views column.

And how can an entire site or forum be considered off topic?

So if I post an off-topic remark in an already off-topic forum, will I be post-banned for being WAY too off topic? Will we then have a WAY ABOVE OFF TOPIC AWARD?

The big blue bar looks cartoonish and not pro to me.

well glad to see all the work going itno the site...and i have found it quite good in many ways...the drop down menus do save space and not sure if it is just me but everything seems to be a little quicker.....good work so far.

When i get to old and start to hate change i will let you know...but for now i am enjoting the new layout...but when you get time can you pleaase get rid of Obama he is just creepy.....i mean have you seen the size of his ears.

I have not been on here to long so i came in at the right time as i had not gotten to used to the old format....so life is easy for me.

have not noticed any real hiccups yet but will let you know if i find any.

Sounds great! This is going to be fun

By the way, like the post above me. I think it would be cool to integrate Above Politics into the 2010 build like BTS.

It would allow for more Politics forums, and more debate

Just wondering..Is it because I use Opera that for some reason the Real-time Headlines and Fire hose don't "work" for me?

They show the same posts all day, and even show the same amount of time ago they were posted all day...
It's like it is just a screenshot that stays the same the whole time I am logged in.

Can I have the "top" button at the bottom of a thread back? Great to hear of the improvements.

My first reaction is that I hate losing the colour-coding of the different forums on the recent threads page.
Surely there were many people who valued being able to tell at a glance where there were threads in the areas of discussion that interested them most.

I really like the Discussion Board page. The merge of ATS and BTS looks nice.
Cool stuff.

I can't read a damn thing on the recent posts page now. SO, please!!! You fixed it and it wasn't broke!

Usually I don't care about the changes around here. But this is bad. REAL BAD.

I liked the specific colour coding of topics, the 'Recent Posts' page hurts my eyeballs :shk:

I like the colour green..usually, can we get a scheme page to change that though? I was liking the dark version as before.

Now that I've pryed myself loose from the fetal ball I've been in for about twenty minutes... A minor suggestion about maybe adding a bit of contrast to the recent post section between the page color and the text color?!?

Seems that happend whilst I was typing!

Thanks!!!!

The way I can click between ATS and BTS, well that's sweet!!!

Now all those threads I start not deemed worthy of being on ATS are more readily available!!

As I said mate, nice one, was definitely worth the wait!

The BTS/ATS merge is very good. The layout is excellent. Well done

Oh my word.

Feedback:

Wish you would include a tab for old ATS...well not the old old version but the one before Sept 2010

I agree with the posters above.

The recent list is too much on the eyes.

I personally liked the old look of it, maybe you can try to keep it in that format, maybe improving it just a little without taking away the feel of that page.

Also- the text is really big. Takes up too much space, too much scrolling.
Tell you the truth, I dont like it, at all.
