Owning my own business I realize that they will try to take the "fines" for my not having health care via my taxes. Therefore, I will no longer be filing taxes with the federal government.

Eventually they will try to take me to court I am sure, however, come that point I will be among probably millions of American's and myself, along with most of them, will not let it happen.

Sounds like you are really struggling. I mean, you have your own business, a car that is newish and all the things you spent your credit card balance on. Poor you.

You'd think "the shaft" would hurt more. This feels kinda good.

You must be among the Robin Leech set of Rich and Famous upper 1% that is going to have to bear a part of the burden for this health care bill.
Why aren't you out in your private jet on your private island?

Since you are here tooling around on the computer I am guessing you don't fall into this upper 1%. You will not pay a penny for this health care bill and no offense to your genetic pool, but neither will your grandkids.

Since most of these millionaires made their bundles of money from unsuspecting Americans duped into buying their useless products - it is sweet irony and karmic fitting.

So, if you invented something and got rich and had to pay for this now, you would be ok with it still or do you think you would have a problem with it then?

You think it's ok b/c you won't have to pay, someone else will.

You think it's ok the government is forcing people to do this b/c someone else paying for it.

Wow.

I think we can all debate this till we`re blue in the face, and it still would not stop this country from going under. This government is broke people. How is fighting about health care going to stop this country from going under? The moment this government starting borrowing more money then the people could pay back, we were ruined. But yet, so many still want to look the other way, and ignore it. How long will ANY national program last when the government files bankruptcy?

the uneducated are the ones fighting over it mainly right now..

blaming the politics of such on the attack of the freedoms of man..

as if you focus on the problem instead of the solution. Watching a fire spread from room to room, and blaming one another about who started it..

its human nature.

I don't have to pay...that's rich.

I have been paying and working all my life just so government employees can enjoy "the best health care in the world" - the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program while I do without. Isn't that nice of me?

I pay so folks can enjoy Medicare and Medicaid and Social Security and no one has ever had a problem with this until now when I finally need a few tests myself and come to find they are not priced for people who make less than 200,000 a year. If you make less than this you cannot afford to see one doctor or pay for one test. It is ridiculous and where does the difference go? To the doctors? No To the nurses? No.

To the insurance companies.

And I pay a third of my income in taxes while the rich pay about 3% of their income in taxes so I am effectively paying more of what I take in, for other people now...for nothing.

Stop saying you are paying for me or anyone when you are not paying a penny more than you put in.

Way to go Gefinity! We live in Texas and my husband is always sending out emails to elected officials in our State and some from other States. One of them is actually our pets Vet. And as far as I know he isn't on any "list" yet (we need a paranoid smiliey icon!)

OT:

Yep, maybe they will all smell the coffee when this government files for bankruptcy. Or, will they continue to argue about this after the bankruptcy? Meaning, just to have something to argue about.

You mean poor us when his 8 employees are let go. 8 less people are buying products and making their mortgage payments.

Poor us when other small businesses end up the same.

Time this by thousands.

You should change your opinion on this. If you think this economy can take a hit like this you are delusional.

We all pay those taxes. Now we all pay more. You are included in the all.

You will pay more.

Can't make it any simpler than that.

But whatever. Enjoy it.

I agree Wildbob.

I never thought I would say this about cancer, but I am so thankful that when that nasty beast was found in me, it was a year and a half ago. I never had a moments worry about what my insurance would do or wouldn't do.. I was able to focus on getting healthy and recovery.

Kidney Cancer is a tricky beast, much like Melenoma, it can pop up anywhere any time again. Could be never, could be next week, could be 5 years from now...

Like I said, I am very lucky to have found it early, and thankfully 1 and 1/2 years out and Cancer Free. However I do have to deal with the small chance it could come back, and if it does, what type of coverage would I have then?

Here in Belgium we get so much for "free" , almost 60% of our income goes to taxes.

There's no sutch thing as free, if your government "gives" you something, there's always a catch.

But then again healthcare can be important to many people.

Anyway, it must be like christmas for health insurance companies, 30 million new customers (forcefully).

This seems to be a fairly common viewpoint here and with fiscal conservatives in general. If it really is that bad, or the government is that close to declaring bankruptcy, why not force it/speed it up? If things are REALLY as bad as you're saying, maybe it would create the type of change conservatives are looking for anyways... start with a *mostly* clean slate?

There has never been and never will be an economy made, that can survive when credit is given out for people to use. When interest is charged on any credit you have, you are doomed to fail in the long run.

I will tell you this Santa...yeah they are required to help you but if you don't have insurance, don't expect them to do anything above and beyond to help you. They do the bare minimum. And if you don't pay your bill then expect to go to court because you will be getting sued and you will pay or go to jail. You want to call people stupid for not having insurance? What about the people that can barely afford to put food on the table? I'm sure you know that insurance is expensive and there are many people out there that just plain can't afford it. Criticizing people for not having it is just ignorant. You said that you don't have it either so does that make you stupid too?
