I heard the show today. He said he would go to Costa Rica FOR HIS HEALTH CARE only NOT TO LIVE>

Wishful thinking folks. Didn't take long for the hatefulness to come out.

Again, like Palin, not one thing Rush can do to you but you'll spew hate etc. But, Obama can do a lot to you (and is) and you sit silently.....

Amazing....

Myself, I hope and pray El Chupacabra drags him out into the Costa Rican jungle and molest him!

I feel sorry for the people in beautiful Costa Rica though!

So your not a Free Speech advocate, eh? You don't believe in it? Or is it Free Speech only for those you agree with? That's it, isn't it?

I don't listen to Limbaugh. Don't care for him or his attitude to be honest. I do believe in Free Speech though and I'm mature enough to understand it applies to all of us or none of us.

I do think Limbaugh is a person who would follow through, unlike the other celebrities on the other side who said they would leave and then did not. This should be interesting.

Maybe if they pass the bill we won't hear that talking head anymore? This could be a good thing.

I never said that he shouldn't be allowed to spew all the poison he wants...maybe if he does he will get it out of his system and start the process of healing. But I doubt it.

He has every right in the world to be a toxic loud mouth and people with no discernment have every right in the world to listen to him...

but neither should be expected to be given a free pass.

Blaine, good point, re: Free Speech.

However....is there ever a line, one that's gone too far???

So far, this Forum is "Political Issues", and thread not yet moved (if it will be, who knows) to "US Political Madness"...

Since Limbaugh, and his ilk, seem more prevalent in the USA, many other visitors may not understand this discussion. Of course, his "performances" are available on the Internet, so perhaps he's well-known outside of North America.

SO far, there have already been a few requisite complaints here in this thread about Keith Olbermann, and Chris Matthews, for example.

Personally, I think we NEED the Olbermanns, and the Matthews, and the Maddows and even the Scarboroughs to provide a balance, outnumbered as they are, against the HUGE tide of hate-spewing that masquerades as 'talk-radio' from those on the 'right' side. (Ingraham, Savage, O'Reilly, et al. We all know who they are....)

It's good to see the hypocrites get called out, even if most of their loyal fans never get to hear about it...their great loss.

Who says Costa Rica even wants him?

I'm so tired of rich bastards screaming that the poor don't deserve the treatment that they're able to afford.

Insurance companies having a strangle hold on the healthcare industry in the USA and which have the capacity to set the monthly premium costs that have completley wrecked healthcare in the USA and made it the laughing stock of the world that it is today.

For some fat idiot to scream that the US citizens don't need what he regularly enjoys makes me see red.

I say make him row a paddle boat to Costa Rica if he really wants to go there. It might slim his fat head down a couple of tons or so.

Yes, there is a line. Slander, making a threat or conspiring to commit a crime. Never with opinion.

I never listen to Rush, so he does not bother me. To hear him, I'd have to make a conscious decision to turn on the radio, tune it to the right station and do it at the right time of day and day of the week.

I could have been been more tactful with my post; should have been more tactful with my post
One of the scariest things going on right now is the Administrations support for reinstating the Fairness Doctrine. We all loose if that happens. It will likely get tacked on to another Bill while our attention is diverted.

I think MSNBC and Rush kind of cancel each other out.

Apparently though, what he really said is he would go elsewhere for medical care and not that he would move. That makes most of this conversation moot and teaches us to verify. Me anyway.

that blowhard has single handedly done more to poison the political atmosphere in this country than just about anyone I can think of.

He deserves to be brought to task for what he has done.

Like you guys don't beat people over the head who don't worship him.

One should always always check in with you about who to listen to there mr Huffing and puffington post.

What you mean is that anyone that gives you public opposition should step off?

"Fairness Doctrine"

Yeah, that is (possibly) an over-intrusion on the part of the FCC (proxy for the Gov't???).

However, I had to look it up, because I had confused it.....

The Fairness Doctrine should not be confused with the Equal Time rule.

The Fairness Doctrine deals with discussion of controversial issues, while the Equal Time rule deals only with political candidates.

So, in a sense...the Equal Time rule still stands, andthat's good.

The Fairness Doctrine was abolished in 1987:

In 1969, the United States Supreme Court upheld the Commission's general right to enforce the Fairness Doctrine where channels were limited, but the courts have not, in general, ruled that the FCC is obliged to do so. In 1987, the FCC abolished the Fairness Doctrine, prompting some to urge its reintroduction through either Commission policy or Congressional legislation...

en.wikipedia.org...

I guess the abolition of 'Fairness' has led us tothe state of raucus 'discourse' we see today, since it allowed the rise of the likes of Limbaugh, Fox "News", etc, etc...(over-simplified, I know, I know...)

We shouldn't forget foreign ownership of media outlets, and the regulations about that being relaxed as well.....

Life is compromise. If you only wish to associate with your own little clique, it's not really a civil engagement and you will get nowhere.

...so, what are you doing about it, except complaining? I don't think computers and televisions actually stop people from taking an active civil role in society. I do think some people are doers and others are complainers by nature. Which one are you?

Unrealistic people create ideas that sound good but are unrealistic, and then as a result, society decays. Ta-da! This is why you must always be vigilant against people who are unrealistic, even if they have no power yet.
Mr Limbaugh is unrealistic. God, I miss Bill Buckley.

Bill Buckley? Bill was just "unrealistic" on a higher level.

Apparently the thread title is wrong and thats not exactly what he said.

On the other though, do you think the government will do better? Who pays, you? Replacing the Insurance Companies with the Government is like replacing Stalin with Hitler. Makes no sense. At least the companies can be regulated, we can not regulate the government though. Once they get a hold of it, it won't be worth having and we will all be going to other countries for health care.

Everyone wants great Health Care. Everyone! The problem is paying for it. How much Health Care will we have if the whole system is bankrupted? Its not hard to understand. They maxed out all the US Credit Cards and can't pay the interest. So, who pays?

The Unions however have it made. Billions in bribes. Special treatment written into the Bill. I think its time to picket the Unions and demand equal treatment.

We do know however that Obama and Pelosi are all for reinstating the Fairness Doctrine. That is no secret.

A Free Press is our best protection and anyone who even hints they want to control the media, should be tossed out on their ear.

The D's have all the main broadcast news, 99% of the print media and all but one cable news channel under their complete control. The R's have control of radio and one cable news channel. That is pretty balanced right now.

The reason Pelosi, Reid and Obama are all for the Fairness Doctrine is it would bankrupt the stations if they have to run shows nobody listens to, so they would stop running talk radio all together, which is what the D's want. That would give them almost complete control of the news. No doubt the R's would do the same given the chance.

Talk about drifting off topic here! Sorry.

I'm willing to bet my life savings that the vast majority, 90% of the people posting on this site bashing Rush have never listened to a single full broadcast of his show. ALL you hear are the snippets and sound bites on MSNBC and CNN and any other crap liberal drive by media network.

I listen to Rush every day and everything he says it true and right.

Rush went to a private hospital in hawaii, not the public, state hospital, and he payed for every cent of care that he received.

Anyone bashing him for his oxycotin use is a hypocrite. Examine your own life and then, if you've never made a mistake, you're probably the best human being on the earth. If not, keep your mouth shut.

And another thing. Universal Health Care is a friggin joke. I'm not against everyone having health care, in fact it would be an amazing if everyone did. But ask yourself this, why hasn't the vast sum of the stimulus money been spent? Hmm? I'll tell you. Pelosi, Reid and all the jacka$$es in congress are saving it for reelection. They're gonna give it to the people who support them come election time. Mark my words. Universal Health Care passes and you can say goodbye to you're last penny, and you might as well wave to the Land of the Free as well.
