So, let me get this right.

When the Earth was flat, it was flat because no one could prove the original theorist wrong, Am I right?

Various cultures have had conceptions of a flat Earth, including ancient Babylon, Ancient Egypt, pre-Classical Greece and pre-17th century China. This view contrasts with the realization first recorded around the 4th century BC by natural philosophers of Classical Greece that the Earth is spherical.

Were the theorists proven wrong?

When the movie "Reefer Madness" came out, marijuana was depicted as a horrible, evil drug that made you kill and rape people, right? Did the masses believe this, yes. Why? Let's see, quite possibly because they didn't have access to the scientific and social research conducted on the use of marijuana, at the time, and it was explicitly used as propaganda by W.R. Hearst etc.

How about airplanes?

"Many times, physicists say that certain things are impossible – like physicists said that airplanes were impossible at one point," Kaku told me. "That’s because we didn’t understand the laws of physics very well. Well, today we have a pretty good handle on Einstein’s relativity theory and quantum theory. And now we have to expand our horizons as to what is really impossible."

-cosmiclog.msnbc.msn.com...

How about the fact that excerpt came from MSNBC?

Well, that must make it true....right?

From memory I seem to remember science did not think it was possible for the human body to travel over 26 (?) miles an hour in a car without being crushed.

Oh boy didn't they turn out to be wrong!

Moral to this story: Don't believe everything you are told by the scientific community, as they are often very, very wrong.

Ok let's get this straight, I see a lot of reply's saying it's the elites others says it's the aliens. I say if you have seen them just keep believing if you haven't well you have two choices: 1. go out and look at the night sky for a few hours and try to explain how shooting stars change direction. or 2. keep your head firmly placed up your ass and STFU.
There is something in the skies, and most governments have said they don't know what they are. Since we are alive I would propose that life is not exclusive to just earth (not even the bible proclaims this). So let's go with recent history, the earth was flat (wrong); we are the centre of the universe (wrong); we are the only life in the universe (lets keep the pattern going here and say wrong); you can't travel faster than the speed off light (I remember this being said about the speed of sound in some old books so let's say it's wrong).
Thus other life is looking at us saying how cute; and we are the ants on the hill and don't even know we are in a seething universe filled with an abundance of life. Dear deluded, may place you heads back up your ass's and thank you for your time.

When the earth was flat, apparently it was only flat to Europeans. There were ancient human cultures all over the planet that maintained the Earth was spherical. The Hopi Indians, for example, arguably the oldest aboriginal people in North America, in their creation story describe the Earth spinning on its axis; in fact, one of their creation gods is in charge of axis rotation.

Other ancient cultures, from Southeast Asia to Africa, have demonstrated that they were cognizant of other worlds like Earth and other planetary systems... As improbable as that may be, it proves they knew the Earth was a celestial body, and all celestial bodies are round as observed from Earth. The Moon, the Sun, the Planets... all round, more or less.

And there's nothing like a lunar eclipse — which the ancients must have enjoyed very much — to give you an appreciation for the spherical qualities of the Moon.

So, hell yeah, the ancients knew the Earth was spherical, even the yahoo savages down in the jungle knew about planetary orbits and what-not.

Flat-earth theory was an isolated European theory, not a widespread one.

I disagree. I had a close encounter back in 2006. Saw some pretty impossible things. Saw enough to know it couldn't possibly be one of ours.

I'd like to make a thread about it but- new members cant post new threads blah blah blah. Been a member here 5 years. Never post. Now I remember why.

I do not think you should be dissuaded from posting by those who think they know but actually know nothing. I for one find these types of threads quite entertaining because like you I have also seen some things that could not have been of human origin.

Therefore when a thread of this “quality” thuds onto my screen I just silently enjoy it, laughing and shrugging at the arrogant ignorance being posted not as opinion but as fact – oh the humanity.

I would like to see disclosure come not for myself as I do not need it but so that these naysayers and ridiculers can eat humble pie while I moonwalk in front of them making faces.

Enjoy these threads, they do have their uses

Point not taken.

People believed it, because there was no proof of it being otherwise, until later on....

Nothing new there.

I'm surprised you didn't goad the tin-foil hat wearers with all the bogus "DISCLOSURE TONIGHT??!?!?!111!" garbage before the State of the Union.

Sheesh.

I wish we could go back to the internet before AT&T decided to open the doors to most of you people. It was a happier place.

You really should read a few more books before making such outlandish claims, start with Richard Dolan and Jaqcues Vallee's works. For the record you are wrong

There are a lot of evidence out there. It is just a matter of whether you want to see/believe in them or not. Just take a look at the Great Pyramids of Egypt. How did man suddenly become so sophisticated to make something like that on their own? Heck, we can't even imitate now what they have done thousands of years ago.

Thanks for that video. The Shuttle footage is some of the most intriguing out there. It seems to me logic points towards space junk or ice crystals, but who knows? I don't see any evidence of alien visitation...

satellites/probes.

These ET versions of interstellar probes are some of the UFO's that people witness (discounting the explainable such as birds, ball lightning etc)? It seems as plausible to me as what the OP is claiming - that UFO's are all our own craft (intentionally or not) shown to us.

Ah, I see it didn't take long for you to jump. Nice to hear from you again though. Pots calling kettles black never gets old to me.

~Do you not see how this fascination muddles the mind?~

your a complete fool...and your thread is junk...theres TONNES of evidence to show UFOs have visited here from another planet.

try researching ancient civilisations..there are several who have recorded such things and we are talkin thousands of years ago before anyone knew anything about the universe to understand other planets or stars or ET life.

are you calling every single person who has ever said theyve seen a UFO a liar??? people know what they see and i dont think they are ALL government agents trying to trick us.

theres more evidence to say theyve been here than to say they havnt...grow up and stop stirring sh*t

I'm sorry, but there just isn't tonnes of evidence at all.

I've seen strange and seemingly inexplicable things, but I can't prove what the hell it was. Can anyone?

Go buy a cheap tent (You might not need it for long) some other camping stuff. Get a ticked to the UK if you are not here already and I will show you where to find proof. Oh and just for the record I haven't been back to where I am speaking of for over 11 years.
But I would do just to see somebody else run like I did, here is a clue

I've done that here in El Yunque, Puerto Rico... infamous for "extraterrestrial" sightings... I don't know if they're just extremely skinny military personnel dressed up as "Greys" but... That's what I've seen. Also, these "extremely skinny military personnel" make Ussain Bolt look like a slug... Weird?

Your title alone is inflammatory and false. All UFOs are not ours because some UFOs are birds, hoaxes or known aerial phenomenon and those could hardly be labeled "ours". In what way is ball lightning ours? Simply because it is taking place in our airspace within our atmosphere? Then by that label UFOs would be ours whether they came from another world or not...

It is not conclusively established what UFOs are, evidence is lacking because UFOs do not appear to leave much evidence of their presence behind, coupled with the fact that science dismisses UFOs out of hand and does not investigate them it is no wonder they remain unexplained.

Claiming UFOs are absolutely not extraterrestrial is presumptuous, claiming it is unlikely that they are extraterrestrial craft would be true...
