you are god, and There are two men at the pearly gates standing before you. you see a man who claims to worship you and know of you. Yet he lies, he steals, he cheats on his wife ( or husband) and is greedy, A generally detestable person BUT he is a true believer and he attends church on sunday and is ridiculously heterosexual, so much that he eats his hotdogs sideways. And next to him is a gay guy, someone who despite knowing the verses in the bible that admonish his lifestyle, prayed to god to help him overcome his homosexual desires, yet he was never able to overcome them and continued to date men and have sex with them. But he was a good person, He Did not lie he did not steal, he did not cheat on his husband he would go to the local hospital and play his guitar for children in the Burn Ward and lead a monogamous . He attended churches that were gay friendly and held a very strong relationship with god.

Who would you choose?

Your self loathing and pity is a reflection of who you are, not who we are.

I have been able to interact with psychiatry professionals for years...many are friends, or married into my family. We've had long debates on the issue. One thing that had a clear understanding by most of them...is that human sexuality is not finite. It isn't just Hetero vs Homo. Human sexual expression runs a wide swath. Even the genders are not clearly demarcated as one or the other.

I personally know many gay individuals, and they are decent human beings. I have no issues with them. My sister in law is gay. As well as a cousin in law.
My sister in law is a certified social worker. She works with the gay community.

I have no respect for bashers who use the bible as a weapon. Most who do, do not know what they are talking about. They parrot staid old dictum's, as if they themselves wrote them in stone. Never once allowing for current or recent understandings of the human psyche, and what constitutes sexuality.

Nearly every hate crime against gays, is perpetuated by some bible thumping gay basher. The rest are psychopathic homophobic individuals.

You would think, that in this day and age of modern media, and revised understandings on a monthly basis from the psychiatric community, that the levels of tolerance would be growing and gaining in the common knowledge.

Yet, hate crimes, and hate speech continues unabated.

This is why I posted, if it is another hateful rant against gays...don't go there.

Statements like this guy have made are not ignored, they deeply wound a lot of people who want nothing more than the freedom to worship God in the presence of their church family, and to also fall in love and settle down with who they choose to.

Then chuck the "religion" if it makes you feel undervalued and develope your spiritual nature.

Any "religion" or group of people that are that judgemental when you are not hurting anyone is not a good group of people to be around.

Just because you have been told all your life the world is flat doesn't make it so. 500 years ago most everyone thought the world was flat and the few that said "hey maybe it's not" were hung or burned at the stake.

Most people that are still religious were "raised" that way. These religious zealots (not the homosexuals) grab our youth and poison their brains with outdated, hurtful ideas.

Love is the answer, if love isn't a part of the sermon (real love not the superficial smile/stab you in the back / have a nice day / don't take it personally type of love) then it's not good for you.

Explore, there's a whole new wonderful world out there that won't condemn the real you.
