What I find most disturbing about this thread is the number of folks that say, "It can NEVER happen!"

I am sure there were many folks in USSR in '89 that said the same thing.

"I find your lack of faith...disturbing."

It's not actually just him predicting this.

I have seen at least three reports in the UK in the last month by economists and strategists stating the the current level of power held by America will lessen over the following year.

The balance is already shifting away from America as more and more nations become disillusioned with the financial system.

Confidence in America, as a financial base, is already dramatically slumped. You have entire states facing economic collapse, government debt beyond imagining, reliance on foreign import and energy.

It is clear that the days of America being the global leader in every way are very limited.

Those denying it are simply naive.
As usual, because they haven't experienced it, they think it "cannot happen". Do you think the Romans saw the collapse of their empire coming?

Every empire falls at some point.

There is one problem with that.

Unlike the former USSR Most Americans dont want the country to fall apart. In the former USSR most of their union was forced together and whole areas wanted seperation that's why they fragmented.

It's quite amusing though when people talk about American influence shrinking and that America will no longer be the biggest economic, political, and military influence in the world and that automatically means the end of the US!

No Wrong! We will still be a powerful country with a strong military and our economy will rebound and yes we will still go on being American. It's just that since the end of WWII the rest of the world has finally reached our standard of living and in some areas they have passed it.

The world we live in now is exactly what the US, UK and NATO stood up to the communist nations all those decades ago to bring about.

Why just in the past 20 to 30 years most Europeans and some Asians in free market economies have a slightly higher standard of living now.

This does not mean that we in the US have fallen it means that we have won the old cold war, where most of the world has defeated communism and now have Democracies and free markets and higher standards of living.

This is exactly what we fought for!

Once upon a time back in the day the US was pretty much the only strong economy after WWII and so we set about helping our Europeans cousins rebuild Europe and pumped billions into our Asian allies economies, the result now they have a very high standard of living and when they look at the US we are not as impressive as we once appeared.

It's all good we will take our place at the world table as a wealthy and strong country just not the biggest dog anymore.

Alexander Solzenitzen said that the Soviet media always told the truth, all you had to do was reverse the statements. For instance if Pravda said that grain harvests in Kansas had failed and that the USSR was sending grain from the Ukrain to the US. Then you knew that the Ukrain grain harvest had failed and that the USSR was importing Kansas grain from the US.

Since Russia is moving back towards the USSR model, then I would suggest that the truth is that Russian is afraid that they may collapse by 2010.

Just a thought.

I would also point out that as the largest and strongest economy in the world, the US will weather the economic downturn better than most other countries. This will not be the "end" of the US nor of the free market system.

Actually, I doubt that - the world does not revolve around the US.

Incorrect. The US accounts for roughly 30% of the worlds GDP. If the US collapses, this will have dire consequences on the world economy. As for debt, consider this, the US is 3x larger then the second largest economy in the world. Comparatively speaking, the US is in a better place debt wise then the japanese in terms of debt to GDP ratio. The japanese debt as a precentage of GDP is among the worlds worst, at 160%, yet the yuan is still one of the strongest currencys in the world.

The dollar is already effectively a 'dead' currency,

No it is not.

it just needs a stronger replacement.

There already are "stronger" currencys, but not nearly enough of them in circulation to replace the dollar. The USD surpasses the Euro as a reserve currency by a 2.5 to 1 margin. Addtionally, the US will come out of this deep recession quicker than Europe will, essentially helping the dollar to rebound against the euro.

The US will not collpase, but possibly expand. I also see the US overhauling its taxation system and replacing it with something like the fairtax, which would greatly supercharge the US economy.

As for this assertion by this Russian Professor, who used to be head of the soviet propaganda machine. Since the conception of the US, people have continuously said the US will collapse, yet it has not.

In closing, The dream of anti-Americans who relish the prospect of a total US break up and collapse, or even their own pathetic nations surpassing the US, is still a very distant one.

Does he know something we don't? Let's pretend for the moment that he's not Russian. People would be jumping all over this saying.... "its part of the plan"...."it's part of the plan"..... "see? it's started!".....

I heard this on the radio this morning and it sounds like a joke.

Collapse in 2010 ? It's not the USSR, lol.

A civil war, the great depression, WWII etc....

edit:
I don't blame the guy. He must get nice perks for this propaganda piece.

It may collapse, but barring a once in a million year natural disaster or full scale global thermonuclear war, it's not happening in the next 2 years.

the notion that the united states would fall and be divided in 2 years is unrealistic. i don't see this happening at all, at least not with at a huge war of some kind.

Is that kind of like the Russian reversal "In Soviet Russia" jokes? For example: In America people deny ignorance on ATS, In Soviet Russia ignorance denies people on ATS!

Maybe instead of the US collapsing in 2010 this really means we get even bigger. With President Obama's charisma maybe we annex Canada and Mexico, uniting North America under one flag and currency.

I agree, the U.S. will be the next USSR... it could possibly happen, not every plan is always successful, sorry for the Freemasons, Illuminati, 911 agenda, etc etc.. We just need to look back in history, every empire that rise falls...

I don't want to see that happen, even though I want to see Americans fight for social programs and a better education system and toss out their black operations and everything out of reach of the law, for my countries sake, for the world's sake. But I don't wish anything like this. Every time something like this pops up, I have to wonder if behind closed doors, deals haven't been cut already in their nwo plans that amount to this. The safeguard would be the people standing up together and united no matter what, but the US government has divided and conquered so many groups and wrecked the education system so bad, its like every man for himself, mad max survival style. Unless you fully embrace and start to mesh the feminine energies the cartel have all but squashed in your country, the cooperation and support for each other, you won't pull together.

Imagine how bad of the world would be screwed if the US went in the tank.
I am sure there are those who would like to see our demise but the are not thinking about the big picture.

Facts:

The world economy already IS screwed because of the US which is why the US economy will rapidly and totally collapse very soon. The Euro is to be the new oil currency by mid 2010 which will result in the US corporation being forced to declare itself bankrupt to the world. That's when the US goes down as quick as the Titanic did and your FEMA camps start filling up due to the predictable riots and massive rise in serious crime, looting, murders, male on male rapes, etc. The prisons are already full. The UN have briefed their peace-keeping forces to be ready at a moments notice move in, secure and police the camps and coastlines to make sure none of you escape.

No disrespect intended, but, what planet have you been living on for the past few years? Don't you know anything about world economics or world current affairs or even what is going on in your own country?! ...and since when did any US citizen ever genuinely care about the huge world that exists outside the US? The rest of the world knows that the massive corruption on Wall Street is directly responsible for the dire times we are living in.

Where have you been for the last century?

The US provides enormous amounts of aid to nations around the world.

Where would Europe be if the US hadn't entered WWI or WWII?

How much of the world would Communism have gobbled up without US intervention?

You're really funny.

What does he base this off of? There is not data to support, and no analysis given?
This sounds like an ex disgruntled KGB analyst trying to get famous with a bogus report on 2010.

I highly doubt this is possible. Unless, we launch con-con-then i can see myself moving to Russia lol...

i would like to correct that first statement.

The world economy fell because of BUSH not because of the Americans. We were fine before the Trade centers went down.

Please tell me you don't really believe this.

If you think a President - any President, I don't care who he/she is - can destroy the WORLD ECONOMY...then you are really not denying ignorance. I know its popular to hate Bush and talk about how evil he is, but even Bush is not capable of destroying the world's economy, even if he tried.

By the way, to everyone mentioning the USSR - thats a very bad analogy. In fact there were many in the academic community who predicted its fall years before it happened. But those predictions were based on actual facts about the state of the USSR's bureaucracy.

I'm just wondering, what "peace-keeping" forces are you speaking of? The UN could not "contain" the US for a day! The vast majority of the UN's forces have always been American, so tell me, where will the UN get the resources to put its thumb on America?

As Admiral Yamamoto stated in WWII - and invasion of America would be impossible because there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass-

Anyone who believes in Biblical prophecy knows that America or "the great country to the West" is never mentioned in the "final days". How could a country great as this not be invovled or mentioned in the Bible?
