Be careful not to dismiss this as a crack pot notion. If taxes get to high and fuel is unattainable, the US will definitely begin to divide. Anyone who lives in the south knows exactly what I mean, many still want to separate from the northern states.

lol. more like america has been living on debt, and ALOT of it. did you guys really think it would not one day catch up ? Why are you still defending a country where the laws are designed to make the rich, richer and the poor, poorer ?

America will fall, nothing can stop that now, its just a matter of time.

The good news is that it wont fall alone, it may be the first, but there are other countries headed in the same direction at a rapid pace.

I agree. THis could never happen that fast. Maybe in 25 years it could happen. If they USA could get through a 10 year recession in the 30's with the resources it had then, it sure as hell can get through the tough economic times it faces right now. Here's one scenario: What if Hillbillary was sickly prophetic in hinting at Obama's possible demise RFK-style? Economy's in the tank, the nation's first black president is assassinated...sounds like a recipe for a civil war to me.

I sort-of follow American politics and feel Pres elect Obama once sworn in will first help domestically before restructuring the American economy, so that's good thing.

Who would have thought that after fighting the most costly war in human history that we would have the EU just a few years after the demise of Hitler. We have seen the breakup of the former USSR, the balkanisation of the former Yugoslavia, the same happening in Iraq and the forementioned EU. If there is a rumour about it then its probaly true.

The problem what are Americans going to going to do about it, anything, nothing? Will there be a rush for the richer states etc. it will be very interesting indeed. But one thing is for sure, America right now is like a big estate with no money and in debt up to its armpits. Prime time for a carve up methinks.

if the us went to the tank ? its bankrupt, about to face a malor natural disaster [ it hasn't finished sorting out the last one yet!]its got its fingers in so many places except in its pockets. for a country thats only been around for five minutes[figure of speach]its done well but unfortunatley boom and bust seems order of the day. im not anti american and yes i believe the whole planet will feel the repercussions if this scenario happens.
