Here you guys go, the map. You can clearly see how they are moving north and these last 2 were the farthest north yet. Don't know yet where exactly it is headed though..

No I had found it on this site, it is only a few earthquakes down. Check it out.

I've been following this thread, thought I'd post something.

The earthquake at 37 km was also the farthest south on the map and not apart of the cluster under the lake. It's probably related somehow, but not a cause of concern because it's not near the magma chamber.

I guess round 3 is upon us after all.

Although it could takes weeks of the on and off again swarms for something to actually happen...

I do think we are going to be seeing a Phreatic/Hydrothermal eruption sometime in the near future.

Will it be a VEI8 event.. experts say small chance... hope they are right.

We may just see a larger lake formed, or perhaps even a new one.

If it's headed toward known faults (brown lines) I don't think it's a good thing.
Many more other EQs could be triggered.

So I downloaded the GEE what are you looking at on it? I thought yellowstone lake was unavailable yesterday - is it up now?

Just for the record. The gee software uses Java, and looks cool. Unfortunately even though there are Linux builds.... they don't work... Even with JRE or open JDK,

I urge all new visitors to please read through posts in this thread from the beginning before asking a question, or posting a link that has probably been posted 10x by now. If you don't read through it first, this Yellowstone thread is going to become redundantly longer than it already is, and render all this great info frustrating to follow.

I'm not a Moderator, but this is my observation.

Anywho.....

How is the GEE software working out for everyone? I've been watching that most of the day, I fear I will see blue squiggly lines in my sleep tonight, lol.

Lets hope the EQ's stay shallow. Because if they start going 5+ miles further down, and stay there; we may be in for some unwanted excitement.

Yellowstone Lake is not available (last time I checked), but I'm watching TA.H16A, TA.H17A and TA.H18A.

Try adding TA.H17A (mainly) and TA.H18A broad band seismograph stations.
That's were I discovered these new earthquakes. I've also added TA.H16A but it doesn't get much signal from EQs occurring below Yellowstone lake.

They are at this rate actually. There are faults just north of the lake and at this rate, if the EQs continue on land they will be there soon. Here take a look at this old link posted to the fault locations.

It works fine under Ubuntu (see java info below) -- you have to be in the directory that contains bin and lib (one level up from what you'd expect) and then run it using "bin/gee" (I'm guessing it has to do with Java search path issues).

Jeez Louise - you're right. That must be a glitch don't you think - they must be entering manually - and since so many of these are 37 miles location - it seems like it's a tired bit of typing. shame it's 2.4 it wont show up on anything that only reports 2.5 and up - to compare.

Is Yellowstone going to blow up?

The odds of winning the lottery are better.

A small eruption perhaps, but if it is the BIG ONE... and that is a very big IF... And you live in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Washington, Oregon, Nevada and parts of Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia in Canada... You will have a good chance of death from a major eruption at Yellowstone.

Then depending on the winds other large areas (likely to the East) will be faced with a similar fate as those above.

Hey Train,

If you look at the specific details of that EQ they label the location quality as "poor". So I dont think that one is a reliable depth. I thought it was kinda out of the norm for this swarm myself until I noticed that lil bit of info.

Activity moving north. Would love to know the depth of those last three, which were very close together.

On the USGS site I believe they had the depth at 37km +- 15km for error.
