Looking at teh Y'stone map, this station would be possibly The Promintory or Lake Butte?

Would you mind looking at this link and tell me what you think and if you can get any size/depth data for other areas around Y'stone which also recorded seismic activity at the same time but MUCH bigger.

Hi angelchemuel - Wecome!

What you are seeing through out the park is the different instruments picking up the Quake in Montana. They are not showing separate events...

I am going to have to disagree with you on that one, because, if they were picking up Montana, the seismographs on the opposite side ie NW would have been smaller, infact they were bigger.

Not to worry.

Your thinking makes sense of course, if you are not use to looking at the instruments --- but, the instruments in the park are like fine tuned, tuning forks and they are set at differant levels than those outside the park ---

I am looking at the ones that showed a much bigger response on the NW of the caldera such as Norris and Madison River

Also can you read the magnitude and depth of the two above please?

Nothing is going on at yellowstone...
We just have more toys in the area that send us information

RSOE Doesn't have any of the above data for quakes, in fact it doesn't look like any quakes have occurred since 3/3/11, why isn't RSOE updating ???? Link below guys....

It's kind of a quick check thing for me,it's the first thing I look at when I get home.

I think thats the right link.
or this one too.

First of all...no, I did not read the entire thread and those who have deserve at the very least, a gold star.
As much as I would love to read it all, I was just wondering (and perhaps somewhere in here someone has suggested the same thing) if this marvelous thread could be condensed and a new one started. Maybe the mods could create a whole new section of ATS just for these historical "Mega-threads" and format them so that they can be put onto "Kindle" or something. LOL I truly enjoy reading the earthquake threads and have read the Arkansas one from the beginning ( silver star for me) and the contributions made from some of our most outstanding members (you know who you are) are informative, educational and exciting. I for one, petition this forum to either condense this thread or start a new one because there are many new members (and a few old ones) who would be very discouraged to even begin to read a thread this long although the benefits are many, with all the great links, graphs, science and speculative debate. What do you all think?

Hi TC... you might want to make that suggestion to the mods. However, based on whenever a new Yellowstone thread is created by someone, they close them down and point them here, I have a feeling it won't make a difference.

But please... feel free to offer them your suggestions. The worst that will happen is they will say no.

I think...I think....Oh, I have just been told I can't do that.....not even just a little bit.......please just a little bit......

OK, well no I would not like to see that happen. The Yellowstone thread is an ATS institution now. It actually is not necessary to read the whole thread, but it is useful to have it there as a reference if you need to go back to something. Yes you could do that if the thread was canned but.............

In many respects the information would have to be repeated all over again as new people ask questions that have been answered. Maybe I am just being overly protective. I have put the knife down, honest.

Yellowstone may be a secondary priority just at the moment. You have to remember that it is run by Radio Ham operators and not geologists.

I hate to say it but for Yellowstone information USGS is your best bet. RSOE only gets it's information from USGS anyway.

With a big over-extended bottom lip, I can only say - heaven forbid if you had to go back and reference something....how on earth would you ever find it?

Ok...I'll read the damned thing (heavy sigh)
