Now, if tomorrow Yellowstone erupts, I hope these guys who are mocking everyone here will be on this topic, apologizing for being rude

Science is new religion...and mocking everyone who does not accept this new religion is a part of it. Sheeply like to feel safe and accept all postulates of so called "science", it makes them feel they belong...and makes them feel smart.

I like an honest mistake when trying to think independently more than fifty guys repeating stuff from outdated books and feeling superior because they can repeat "scientific" facts.

Dare to think! Not te repeat what they tought you at school, or through media. Think!

We'll be here taking credit and asking for money of course! LOL. Thanks for the words G. I trust these guys. They're as smart as whip. If you have conspiracy theories they better be good here. It is a collective effort to weed out the "noise". Wonder which we believe in more evolution or creation by the way. Off topic.
These guys are working hard to discover some things with help or without! We all are. We are searching for knowledge, that is more than many others try to do. Commendable and deserves our support. While none of us may always agree and have all the answers, we are hopefully grown up enough to respect each other and appreciate our unique talents. We are taking the right approach. Keep it up. There are many who care.

P.S. A friend just got back from a trip to yellowstone! I will post new pics soon as I get them!

That was a huge earthquake east of Australia

Trace 1 Alaska
Trace 2 Hollister, Ca.
Trace 3 Big Bear, Ca.
Trace 4 Mammoth Lakes, Ca.

You can see the 2nd wave minutes after the first, that one shook the whole world!

Wow, the third time around the world the wavelengths look creepy.

If you see one of these originate at YS, feel free to worry, regardless of what the trolls say.

Geez...now i can't remember who created the Yellowstone thumbnail Seismo Layout Display Webpage but here's something to add to it...

META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="300; URL=http://www.isthisthingon.org/Yellowstone/daythumbs.php?glayout=1"

This SHOULD re-load the page automatically every 5 minutes...Idea???
change the 300 to what ever value you deem as in seconds to re-load...

Now that's some serious "wave" harmonics...how long did that last or is it still ringing???

Never saw a reading like this before on GEE

What's the deal with the scale #'s on the last one on the left?

Still ringing, It'll take a few more minutes to quiet down.

Just so it's not a one liner, I'll tell a blonde joke:

A blonde calls the fire department screaming "Help, Help, my house is on fire!"
The dispatcher says, "Calm down maam', you're going to have to tell us how to get there"
She says, "Duh...Big Red Truck!"

OK.. Would somebody please clue me in real fast about UU's webicorder site and tell me'

1) what does the dc reading stand for on the right side of the sceen?

2) How do you determine the magnetude?

For example: I'm looking at LKWY right now and want to know what I'm seeing just after midnight, MST...

I've been too busy at work lately to dig a little deeper so an answer would be way cool... PRETTY PLEASE...

Regards, Ric...

International Handbook of Earthquake and Engineering Seismology

books.google.com... 7k4&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=8&ct=result

The change in input voltage required to produce a zero output voltage when no signal is applied to an amplifier.

DC Offset
DC offset is an imbalance that sometimes occurs in A/D converters (see WFTD archive "A/D Converter"). When working with audio it is desirable to have only the audio program material passed through the signal path. Almost by definition audio, being a periodic waveform, is an AC (Alternating Current) signal. DC (direct current) is of the non alternating or periodic variety and thus has no constructive purpose as part of an audio signal. It is merely a constant voltage that is present which can eat up headroom (see WFTD archive "Headroom") and cause clicks and pops during editing.

DC Offset
DC offset is a measure of the unbalance of the mixer. For an ideal mixer, the DC offset is zero. DC offset defines the IF
voltage output when the mixer is used as a phase detector and only the LO signal is applied, the RF-port is terminated
in 50 ohms.

Hint: Look at this thread at just about midnight.

It's all there in black, white, blue, orange, yellow, and red.

Earthquakes east of Australia, and now one in Japan are registering on helicorders, making them go haywire.

Thanks a million.. I'll check it out. I really do have a keen interest in this stuff and I want to learn alot more. This wasn't required learning when I became a microwave technician... Hee, Hee...

OK, I've got it now... Easy to understand being into electronics all of my life...

Now, when you look at a local bump from LKWY, on it's graphic scale, how do you determine the magnetude.(Richter scale).. I don't mean to sound like a dummy, but I guess I am until I learn more...

BTW, Lernmore, that was one heck of a ringer....

I'll get this stuff sooner or later...

Ric..

So, Richter's original method would be adequate enough for me to get at least a rough Idea, correct. I understand logarithms well enough to study this further so I can make more sense out of it. I don't have enough time tonight to do it though. Gotta get some sleep sooner or later.. Thanks a bunch for the information. I should've taken this up way back in college...
