WOW!
Quite an impressive series at YMR!
It's odd someone mentioned a 6 or higher event within 200 miles of Yellowstone a 20 pages back as something to be worried about.
Would the Indonesian earthquake qualify?
It is truly amazing that something occuring half way around the globe can have consequences at yellowstone?

One other question and appologies f this sounds goofy, but with all the known "supervolcanoes" around in the vaious regions, could not a "new" one develop somewhere?
Why is everyone so worried about past known ones reasserting themselves?
Could not a "new" one appear?

Here is a handy dandy calculator on when the waves will arrive. It will give you the time for all of the various waves.

Somebody noted:

Well, it looks like this Yellowstone activity is part of a bigger picture of seismic and volcanic activity. This is not normal...and all located near volcano's too. If they all really did occur near volcano's it makes me wonder. Anybody can verify this???

What with all of the chit-chat about other areas, I have to log in and ask if anyone is monitoring the Tetons area.

With the ringing (that everyone seems to assume was due to the firat Indonesian quake) having essentially disappeared from the LKW sensor and others in the area. I have for some time been snooping around at surrounding devices to evaluate their relative responses to the same energy waves. I find that if (using THIS map for convenience)one looks at West Thumb (YLT) and then, proceeding westward, compares to YFT and YMR one finds that they reacted more agressively whereas YDC was again subdued.

I then go to the Tetons HERE and examine the traces of the working instruments SNOW, LOHW, MOOW and FLWY and find radical differences in their responses. FLWY was rattled severely and has since continued the sinusoidal ringing thru 15:50 hours whereas MOOW went into extreme oscillation and the instrument failed at ablut 13:50 hours. at athe same time LOHW ripples lightly and settled down whereas SNOW was apparently well isolated from any effect whatsoever.

Can someone put forth a logical hypothesis to support this activity?

Ok, I see on GEE the time of spikes at LKWY and H17 (18 still blank) at the same time ya'll posted about the next 7.5 in Indonesia. Wow. That is interesting how it shows up on the other side of the earth. This is getting more interesting. I had started to wonder why the activity showing on GEE but nothing reported for Y, now I know.

Still wondering about what more might happen at Yellowstone in the next bit.

I know I asked before, but no one answered, does anyone know if there should still be smaller (over 1.) eq's listed at or around Yellowstone. It seems activity just abruptly stopped. Would it not make sense for there to be other recordable activity, even if it were smaller.

By looking quickly at the rsoe site, there are volcanos near some, not others. For instance, there is not one shown in Afghanastan (volcano). Not to say there aren't any, but it looks like Iran and Karzi something have seen activity too. But, yes, there are some volcanos near Indonesia quake areas.

Dang, my GEE is spiking again.

I just checked the EDIS site for the 7.6 & 7.8 in Indonesia
There is not a volcano in 100 km of radius.

However, the radius of the quake itself is 100 km.

So what would be considered "close"?

Yes, seems weird that it all stopped on a dime. Reminds me of how fast popcorn stops popping when you remove it from its' heat source.

I don't know what close is either, but if you go to RSOE and look at the Indonesian and Paupa quakes there are two volcanos shown to be erupting. They are Rabaul and Soputan. I can't tell by the map how close they are to the quakes, but what do you think?

Looks like we're getting some harmonic waves on LKWY again.

Are these reverberations from another quake?

They seem to coincide with the activity of the quakes occuring in Indonesia. The timing of them is very close. That, and nothing has been reported in Yellowstone since just after midnight.

Come on, you want us to believe that those are HARMONICS ? Looks like maybe some high pitched wind, or maybe someone is playing bagpipes in Yellowstone tonight !

How long is it going to take for some real people to step up from USGS and give us a little more information.

I guess when they say scientists and alike agreed that the yellowstone docudrama years ago was very factual and of some resemblence of what would really happen. Well, I don't remember anyone in that movie doing the right thing and teling anybody anything important until it was too late.
