You live in the UK why worry about HAARP when you have one closer in Norway and a smaller one right in England?

The LHC is still 29 days away from turning on and a simple google for CERN will take you to their home page to find out everything you need to know about ALICE

HAARP didn't do this, CERN didn't do this, IRIS didn't do this

I can confirm similar electrical phenomena in a separate incident at about the same time. Computer will not turn on, no juice in outlets, all electronics fried, cars will not start, but power never went down outside the house. Even cell phones were down. I suspect EM burst.

See original report here.

Hate to burst your bubble but I live in Toronto and well...notice how it's been raining all morning? Sometimes when it rains the sky lights up and you hear a sound I can only describe as thunderous. Don't panic, that's normal.

You live in Toronto and you missed the explosion?

That corner was where my parents used to live... they are in Ajax now... whew

That would indicate a pinpoint source.

EM burst is on my mind, what about a deep space object? Gamma bursts happen all the time, a stepdown in freq. would make one visible.

i know this is not what happen since cnn just reported the propane explosion but this is also interesting if you live in canada

The Canadian military is sending a long-range Aurora aircraft to investigate reports of a mysterious explosion along Canada's Northwest Passage that may have killed several whales. The drama apparently began in the early-morning hours of July 31, when an Inuit hunting party at an outpost camp at Borden Peninsula on northeastern Baffin Island was alerted to the sound of an explosion, followed by a cloud of black smoke. An Inuit member of the Canadian Rangers, a military reservist unit stationed in the far North, reported the incident, and said a hunter at the camp saw several dead whales on shore when he went over to investigate. In a preliminary investigation, DND's Joint Task Force Northern headquarters determined there were no known vessels operating in the area, and it did not know of any activity that could have caused an explosion. "At this point, we really have very little else to report," says Summer Halliday, a spokeswoman for the Joint Task Force in Yellowknife. "But we will be sending an Aurora aircraft to do a flyover. The plane is currently up north in the Mackenzie Valley on a routine exercise supporting the RCMP's Operation Nunakput." Parks Canada will also be on the scene with a boat that's being dispatched from Sirmilik National Park on Bylot Island.

On August 16, a partial lunar eclipse will be visible over parts of Europe, Africa and Asia. Four days earlier, during the pre-dawn hours of August 12, the Perseid meteor shower should become viewable over North America, particularly above the Western States. Prospects for viewing the meteor shower are favorable, as the after-midnight sky will be moonless for about 3 hours. The Perseids are expected to reach their peak intensity on August 12 at 7AM EDT.

This is interesting

Propane Explosions 101
Propane tanks do not explode. They do not implode and nor do they rupture or come apart on their own. In fact, bringing a propane tank to the point of "explosion" is a tremendously difficult and time consuming task that's not as simple as most people think. Many people believe that a propane tank "explosion" can occur with the slightest of ease. This is not the case whatsoever and people should understand that a propane tank, operating under normal circumstances will not explode or rupture. Safety devices and mechanisms are in place to prevent explosions, accidents and propane tank ruptures or breaches. Just like any other hazardous material or activity, human error is a primary factor in preventing or contributing to any type of accident, however serious in nature.

I find these incidents somehow oddly linked and disturbing. I haven't the foggiest of what they might be or what they portend.

I'm assuming that the explosion in Toronto was some sort of accident, but being of the opinion that the MSM in this part of the world have been singing along from the Homeland Security hymnal about the danger of terrorist attacks, I'm wondering if this event will be spun along those lines.

I hope not. I still have faith in Canadian common sense, but let's face it, this country is in a never ending pas de deux with the Excited States of America. We are compelled to keep our steel-toed tap shoes clicking, whether we like it or not.
