This is exactly what true was saying a few posts back about indoctrination into meteorology. There are many within the atmospheric sciences that have concerns with chemtrails. Please don't start minimizing people that are in many cases cases smarter than you,(I'm not suggesting thats me) with statements like the one above. People are smart they know intuitively that there is something going on in our sky's. The shadow pictures you provided don't look like what I saw. The shadow lead the chemtrail for a very long distance. I will however pay attention to where the sun is in the sky in relation to the trail and the alleged shadow.

I didnt mean to make it sound as if the meteorologist is saying that, what I meant was just coming to a meteorologist with those claims and the video and telling him/her that those are chemtrail caused, he'd think you are joking.

The angle of the sun is very important. I too have seen this before, and when I did, the sun was shining, relative to the aircraft, from behind it. The sun's angle sets it up to get blocked by the contrail and aircraft and then have it reach out in front of the plane as a shadow. It would work on the same principle as the crepuscular rays that are also mentioned. If the sun is blocked just right, you get a nice shadow effect.

Swingarm and genradek, its called a contrail shadow, its been discussed before and on other threads. Not an entirely uncommon occurence. Although swingarm, I wouldnt expect you to believe it or check the link

I didn't say I didn't believe it. Quite the opposite. It makes sense to me. I just like see it for myself. I have seen it before. I never made the connection. I'm simply saying I will be aware next time I do see it.

Wow, that was a bit unexpected....kudos on keeping an open mind

Its a good indicator of the presence of small ice crystals and cirrostratus in the atmophere....just like the halo and sundog phenomenen

This is a little bit like a "He said/She said" argument, at this point.

A photo on the internet, that purports to portray what is claimed....in this day and age, cannot be trusted anymore. Digital manipulation programs, and the skills of the users, means just about anything is 'possible' to be depicted.

I just saw, this weekend, an animated/live-action composite movie about 'Stripes', the Zebra who wants to be a race horse. It's one of those G-rated, OK for kids films....but, it was a blend of live human (as opposed to dead human) actors, and really good CGI....and real animals, all blended and edited....so that it appeared, nearly seemlessly, that the animals talked to each other. Whoopie Goldberg voiced a billy goat, and Dustin Hoffman was a miniature Shetland Pony!!!!

Why bring this up?? Because of what I've already said....everything on the internet (including ATS) should always be viewed with a critical eye.

We see hoax after hoax pop up.....but the problem is, one little nugget out of one hoax will get 'legs' and cause another misconception, and we're back, "Off to the Races" again.

I have personally, many times, seen how contrails will cast shadows. I have seen the shadow of the airplane I was currently flying, below me. It all depends on the time of day, which means what angle the Sun is at, at the time of observation.

If you have never been a pilot, then you will never know some of the beautiful images than can be produced, by the effects of the Sun on clouds...or contrails. Most flying is, admittedly, mundane mostly....bet there are great moments...

Oz I do have an open mind. Do you? It seems your not following this thread as closely as you should. I mentioned and thanked GenRadek for pointing this out. That being said it doesn't change the fact that chemtrails exist.

I wouldnt be surprised if the government were letting something go, but it would be far more plausible to put something in the water supply. I dont believe chemtrails take the form of contrails, colours or anything that we can see in the sky, Im not even sure stuff is being sprayed. The stuff used in cloud seeding is colourless, so why would the government so blatantly release a colourful, or white chemical that can be seen from the ground. Makes no sense and the meteorology for the growth and long term existence of contrails is correct (IMO) and easily proven with a basic understanding of the upper atmopshere.

And I also believe that contrails do reflect light, adding to global dimming during the day and they do prevent long wave radiation leaving the earth during the night causing warmer nights. So they arent necessarily a good thing for the earths environment.

They already are putting something in the water supply, fluoride. If the water supply had the things mentioned in chemtrails it would be easy to audit. Thats why contrails are better,just look at this thread. Would it go on this long if it was in the water supply?

YES!!! OZ.....See, this is the real truth here.....the contrails CAN have an effect on the environment....and the more airplanes that fly, the more effect.

BUT, it should also be understood that jet engnes also spray hydrocarbons as well....the normal result of burning a fossil fuel.

So, more jets, in the last twenty years....more contrails (sometimes) and the effect on the atmosphere....well....who knows? I simply doubt there is sufficient science, yet, to contemplate all of the results.

Automobiles pollute, coal plants pollute, other industries pollute....all mostly at low altitudes, of course.....near the surface.

And, seriously....most contrails evaporate (sublimate) very soon, within just a few thousand feet behind the airplane. It is the occasional long-lasting contrail that leads to this 'theory' of 'chemtrails' coming from commercial jets.

I challenge all 'chemtrail' believers to take a look at some NASA photos, from orbit.....look at the massiveness of this planet, the millions of square miles....and then explain how any intentional human activity could have a real effect.

While looking at those photos, pay attention to the cloud patterns....please!

Fine, SA.....keep trying to "debunk" me.....so far, the OP has pretty debunked most of you 'believers'.....if you'd only read what he writes.

What we have here is.....intelligent professionals, with experience, compared to amateurs who surf the net and become influenced by baloney....then regurgitate the baloney they read on one site.....and it gets traction, and again......the nonsense keeps running merrily along!

AND, pictures....well, I know what I SEE when I look up at the sky, and when I have looked down, or off to the horizon.

I have also brought in information about a website (and someone else did, too) called FlightAware.....guess no one bothers to check it out. Rather, just believe in 'chemtrails', don't let facts get in the way!
