Looks to my peeper vision as a rock portruding from the hill in the back ground. Optical illusions bring it together as something abstract for the mind to play on. Just another rock with light/shadows over and behind another rock in foreground.

Seeing as there's been music references in this thread, I think it looks like cock rock.

Cheers!

Oh c'mon! That's a rock.

Not to say that it isn't a weird rock.

on the later pic you see a snake-like animal an the birds are gone.
same birds and snakes are on other pics.

interesting showed this to my son and husband and they both gave the same answer a male reproductive organ ( the polite version of what they said!)

Haha I thought so too, but a fourfold "nut" so to say. Looks like somebody lost their intergalactic nutzzzz

Now on back to being serious, I think it just looks like it is crouching behind the rock. I can not really see how far behind the 'object" is located behind the big rock.

Looks like another set of rocks to me, then again, when I look at a rorschach, all I see is spilled ink.

looks like an airbag which might have come loose when the rover spacecraft landed on mars

I see two little soldiers, walking left to right .. at a very strange angle. Like something out of Thunderbirds
One of them is even holding a gun!

Similar Object

I was watching a YouTube video that someone posted a link to in another thread. The thread & video are talking about Astronauts taking pictures of UFOs but the video continues on to talk about anomalies on Mars.

The following pic is a screen shot from the video. It shows something that made me think of the picture in the OP of this thread. The shape is rounded in a similar way and the colors are very similar.

Here's the video I got this from. The screen shot came from time index 6:11 / 9:05.

LOL thank you stikkinikki.

I will agree with a previous poster that the first adolescent immature thought in my mind was phallic.

But...
once I got past that.

It has to be one of the stranger rock formations I have ever seen. Of course it could be a really weird angle.

interesting indeed, looks like some kind of silver domes.
HAng on, the truth will be told, one day we will even be able to explore it ourselves!

1. Almost ALL of the nasa mars pix have artificial layers of 'rock' painting, and 'shadows' and 'sand' painting- causing false perspectives and shapes.

2. the REAL anomaly - which is in plain sight, is to the right of the duplicate fake rock overlay. Just to the right and down a little, on the ground, you will see a light colored 'worm' shape - those are the things which NASA airbrushes out, and paints rock-colors over, or paints 'sand' colors over - doing its best to incorporate what is actually on the surface of Mars.

Usually you have to ignore the colors in the pix, and train your eye to see the drawn-on 'shadows.'

Most of the rocks in most of the NASA pix, contain wormlike shapes, which NASA either paints over with a rock-color, or paints a sand-color over them, when they're upright or extending off the rocks, so that they appear to be 'beyond' the rock. Think of snakes. But they're not.

That said - again, look at the soil to the right of the rock, and disregard all the 'colors' and painted shadows. You can clearly see one of the wormlike objects moving on the ground - but NASA has tweaked and painted artificial colors, shadows, and 'textures' over everything in the foreground. Naturally they make mistakes at times - hence this phallic-like object.

To see the actual landscape of Mars and what it contains, you need to download some of the larger pictures (80meg+), and minutely examine the distant backgrounds - and you see a vast quantity of vertical shapes coming off almost all the rocks - which NASA doesnt even bother trying to hide.

Much of the so-called photographs of mars, are immensely painstaking paint-jobs. Disregard what seem to be 'real' shadows, and you'll see the coated textures making fake soil around mostly fake colored rocks. To hide what is on almost all rocks in plain view.

Whilst I don't believe for a second in people hiding behind rocks on Mars what I do find intriguing is that as Mars is frequently ravaged by high winds and storms - why are there so many rocks / boulders resting on the hill but hardly any at the foot of the hill?
I would assume that in the billions of years this landscape has been ravaged that by now they all, or at least some of them, would have rolled to the bottom?

I realise that the surface gravity on Mars is only about 38% of that on Earth - but billions of years of storms and volcanic eruptions and still resting on the hill with hardly any at the base?

Just waiting for a geologist to post a reply now and call me an idiot!

You know I reckon NASA has a competition running where they doctor up images and post them. Then they wait for some one to find them and analysis it. Currently there is probably a bet on that this pic will make it to more than a 100 replys.

Well its possible isn’t it?

This is truly fantastic. I ran the picture through some of my advanced image software and after hours of pixel per pixel rendering I have managed to enhance the object enough to be recognised, I cant believe my own eyes.
