Wow, that is amazing that behind a rock on Mars would be another rock on Mars.

What an incredible find . . .alert the media.

I thought i had seen something odd!
good thing I'm not the only one!
i agree, those mars pictures really have some interesting stuff, they should have a topic or section for it...

the funniest thing for me is that i linked it with the caption "spot the anomaly"
good times everybody!

back on topic, it is strange the way it has been carved by the forces of martian nature, the question remains, the big rock below looks like basalt, the thing sticking out of the rock in the lower part seems to me like ejected lava that when the big one landed scattered it, now, why aren't they eroded and smooth like the "fallus stone"??

the interesting piece about those stones is that they are divided in both directions, bilaterally. it is very interesting the way they are configured.

of greater interest to me is the somewhat often mentioned discoid looking object.

I would suspect the stone is rounded because of wind/sand erosions. I would think that the sand erosion on lava stone could make the channels deeper. In the same way that water eddy's make holes in rock. there is a pit there, so that is where the sand accumulates to erode it more.

Just a thought.

anyone else see a face???

not the large bubble like object but to the right of the main rock, theres what looks like 2 eyes and a elongated skull. It's not like the other rocks, I would classify it as a plant before a rock- but it did look like a face to me first.

HI FOLKS, THIS IS ACTUALY MY FIRST POST AND I HAD TO COMMENT ABOUT SOMETHING..... this is a very good example of wierd things that can be seen on mars. my father worked for JPL here in pasadena calif for about 30 years and i was actualy one of the first people to see the first pictures of mars from the viking lander. when those pics were released from JPL to the public there was a lot of questions asked about different things seen in the photos, i would swear that there was a volkswagen bug on the distant hill and a muffler from a car laying about 3 meters from the lander!

i dont know what that is in the pic posted here but it doesnt look like an ordinary rock!! keep up the good work people and keep posting!!!

strange how some people "just see a rock" , maybe it is, but is it a very odd looking rock then, interesting enough to had its picture taken so many times...

Why is it when someone says it's just a rock they're labelled as close minded or a "noob" to use that rather poor term. Look around earth, it'sa fact there are tons of very weird rocks, some you wouldn't believe, just look up the giants causway. If you think these martian rocks are weird that'll blow you away.

Actually i found the images for you to save you the trouble, only because i love the giants causway and it just sort of shows that the martian rocks so far havn't provided anything amazing. Although i must admit those ones that looked like walking people were very cool.

everything is possible in the symbolic universe!

I've seen some strange rocks and natural formations before, and thats one of the best examples!
we will only find out once we tour the area, someday!

interesting showed this to my son and husband and they both gave the same answer a male reproductive organ ( the polite version of what they said!)

I though so to at first, I'm glad I'm not alone.
Probably another rock, seems like they have alot of those..sorry to burst your bubble :p

It's all good. Weird rock formations or something more interesting. I'd eat crow when we get there. Until then, I say it is anamolous.

If you look behind the bigger black rock that is hiding the "penis" in the original photo. You can see a several feet back 2 rocks one on top of the other that looks like the "penis"

I am pretty sure in the original shot it is these rocks just looking head on it looks like some toon hiding behind the big rock

So what you are saying is that Mars is the home to the lesser spotted Penisaurus. Maybe they're the props left behind when they filmed Flesh Gordan.

EPIC FAIL TOPIC AGAIN!!!?!

Ohh well... its just some rocks in the background and the rock in the foreground let it look like its something directly behind it.

Mystery solved. Over and out.
