Another quickie:

Could somebody please check out Youtube and see if they can get video's to play for them? For some reason, and this has only occured in the last 1/2 hour, I suddenly cannot get anything to play on youtube. Even video's I watched not 1/2 and hour ago will not play. They load, they play for 1 or two seconds with no sound at all, then it stops altogether, although it continues to finish downloading the data. I have not reset or done anything to my PC.

I'm positive it is not my PC doing it and it is most odd.

I just have a few simple questions?

why do people complain so much about this board and it's mods?

how hard is it to hit the alert button themselves when you really think something is offensive/discriminating?

I have been a mod of a big dvd forum before they were taken down by the mpaa

And it is hard to watch every thread, and there are alert buttons on almost every forum I seen, I had them there too and that was 6 years ago.

I really don't understand this, maybe the alert button should be bigger?

And what happens when members are allowed to spread hate and rascism here on these boards, I'll tell you what happens people such as I who challenge such views are punished which tells me there is an agenda at work here.

Over the past 12 months I have seen an ever increasing amount of "traffic" that realtes to nuke them rag heads, turn the ME into glass, Muslims are savages etc etc. Its not only Muslims but anyone else who is not strong or big enough to stand up to the bullies here on ATS, and bullies that are backed by the mods.

We are often told that ATS has to work within the confines of the law, of course it does. So why does it allow members to expouse rascism knowing full well that this is against the law in most Western countries, why the double standard. And why is it that when I call some one a racist for the obvious racist commets that they have made that I get told " calling some one a racist is not condusive to the debate" and then punished for it. What, so its alright ot come here and be ignorant and make racist comments but ist not OK to call those people a racist.

Well I'm getting confused now I thought ATS was about denying ignorance, apparently not, apparently its OK to spout your ignorant racist views as long as no one contests them. And I relly used to like this site but it would appear that like so many institutions it has been infiltrated by the parasites who run the show. I mean lets face it any other group or individual that has been contraversial has been shut down and side linned when it comes to taking on the perps so it would seem that ATS has gone the same way. Its not been shut down its just become a sounding conduit for the perps and disinfo spreader flip side of the coin

Like the previous poster stated: hit the ALERT button.

That's the only way they will know what is going on unless they are sitting there, in front of 8 monitors, monitoring their assigned threads 24/7. Mods aren't infallible; they need our help (rarely, but still.....).

And, don't let those posters draw you in. Be the bigger person and don't feed the trolls.

Skeptic, so how is it that they cannot see the problems I mention yet they can see what I post. I'm sorry but you cannot have it both ways even
if a member complained about me the mod should look at the reasons why and not just lash out without reveiwing the whole post.

And the point is that it is almost certain that ATS has been infected by agitators and the like so what is being done about them. I have complained about this several times yet nothing ever gets done so it makes me suspicious as to whats really going on here at ATS.

magicmushroom is one of my absolute favorite ATS users. Thanks for everything you do my friend.

I came back to ATS recently and started a thread complaining about ATS but then I looked into tinWiki, and although I think it is sadly lacking in money and support, if people can use their member pages to collect threads and ideas (like I am clumsily trying to do at my link below) then a lot of the issues at ATS can be brought into the open.

But is the desire for cash greater than the desire for truth? I ask because tinWiki doesn't seem to generate the click-through dollars which some people spend much time desiring. Click-throughs are less important than truth, and really, if half the time spent "moderating" ATS can be spent in advancing tinWiki, I think things will improve across the board.

I think there should be a massive shift from ATS to tinWiki, starting right now.

Smallpeeps, thank you so much for the kind words, I must admit I have been tiring of ATS of late just becuase I just seem to be chasing my tail all the time and more gravity and credence is given to trivia and ignorance but the bigger picture often goes by untouched. Is tinwiki OK.

I understand what you mean, but you can't have it both ways, either. If you don't point out problems to the Mods and just join in the fray on a thread....you are doing yourself a disservice and adding to the problems you are talking about. JMO....

Wouldn't it just be easier to hit the ALERT button instead of adding to the problem? Then, at least, you are part of solving it. This board is a joint effort and unless we all try to make it better..... It can't just rest on the shoulders of the staff.

I know it is hard not to jump in and start ripping on someone for their perceived ignorance, but adding fuel to the fire doesn't help. Ignoring them or alerting on them gives you a lot less headaches.

As for tinWiki...it is great!!! I am addicted.

Yes, tinWiki is the solution and in my opinion, the EVOlution of all the data at ATS. Editing wiki code is not mcuh harder than editing bbcode, go for it and set up your own user page and then try to write an article (which I still have yet to do)

My user page on tinWiki is linked below, and is reflective of my particular madness, and I think everyone on ATS could do better, in their own way.

But we need to actually get some support of tinWiki happening because the support of ATS is way too much whereas tinWiki doesn't even have the anti-hack plugin working, or so I read. Wikis are the future, whereas message boards like this are already antiquated.

tinWiki is the solution to each individual person's frustration with ATS because on your user page you can post how you see the particular web of ATS, and where you see the holes in it.

examples of rascism on ats.... are you serious go to the main board and click on anything political and you'll find your examples.... I personalyy have butted heads with MM on several of them but i totally understand and agree with what he is saying here

I've taken a moment to examine your last few posts, and it seems to me the thread you're referring to had you and the other member taken to task.

If the thread was being derailed, then I understand why the moderators removed those posts. Remember this is a huge site, and the mods can't be everywhere at once. If you see something that you think is racist or whatever hit that alert button or send a message to one of the mods.

As Smallpeeps said, don't feed the trolls.

Is MM that monkey who wears a fez? Didn't realize monkeys were into politics. But, hey, this is coming from a rabbit who loves the political forums, so who the hell am I to talk.

I know what your getting at. Just because we have a black presidential candidate on the ticket it seems like all the wackos with less than politically correct views are jumping out of the woodwork. Not cool.

The best remedy for this racism thing is to tackle it with logic, tact and staying within the rules of this site. Or alerting the moderators, that's what they're for anyway.

I'd like to see specific examples, posted here, thanks. I want to see exactly what kind of post you and MM are wanting censored because unless those posts have words like '''n-word''' and ''honky'' or ''paki'' e.c.t then those posts have a right to be here as much as anyones.

Censoring another's thoughts is wrong, doesn't matter if those thoughts oppose yours.

specific examples of past threads with this problem would be difficult often being deleted from threads. I believe that MM like myself feels that when people become angry or inbittered by a comment and fire back that they are targeted unfairly for their response while the post/poster that spewed the ignorant rascism or anti-(insert race) rhetoric aren't even addressed let alone punished for their hate monguring

I see the forum filter has replaced the real word I used and replaced it with ''n-word'', which is pathetic and immature.

I notice the filter didn't filter out the word ''honky'' or ''paki'' though, interesting.
