The ATS Issues Thread

Corum, If I may correct you, not letting people state their views as you say may be missing the point and that point being that in most western countries we have race laws so its not just a case of shutting some one up its stoping some one who is actually breaking the law. And thats my whole point here, we are constanly being told that ATS has to work within the law, well the mods cannot pick and choose what laws they like. The minutye a member is being overtly racist in any way then they should be warned as it is against the LAW and it also a complete lack of tollerance and understanding of other races.

Any jibe, joke, inuendo, seeing others as inferior, using words such as savages, rag heads etc. are all forms of racism. The whole purpose of ATS is to deny ignorance, to educate and open peoples minds, to break down the barriers of intollerance to others etc.

Below is just one comment on the thread where I was punished for speaking out against comments such a sthe one below.

Yes the member could not help himself, rather than go and learn and research the country and its people this member would just rather take the water out of them and believe all the lies and disinfo.

I have noticed that there are a lot fewer issues based political topics than just a few weeks ago. It looks like people are ignoring most of SO's proclamations.

I understand your point MM, the thing is you say it's about breaking race laws. The example of racism that you gave me from the other poster does not break any laws, it might be racist but not illegal. These things should be allowed to be spoken, even if it's only to expose the speaker for what they are.


Now, a question to the ATS enforcers who determine what I can and can not say or see on this site. I'd like to ask why the word '''n-word''' is censored but the word ''honky'' or ''paki'' is not? Why is this? It might be an automatic system that you have no control over but if it is not I recommend you watch the double episode of South Park entitled ''Cartoon Wars'', please listen to the message it gives, it makes sense. I respect and like you fellas but I have issues with your censoring policies.

Corum. I understand what your saying and I dont sign up tot he nanny state persee but what I'm taliking about is fairness, if people do come here and are racist then it is our job to try and change their minds, the problem is that when you or I call them a racist its us who get punished but not the person who's being racist and thats my point. Censure the racist but not the person who calls them a racist.

Monkey, I think you may be right, if we are not sure exactly who is controlling ATS we wont know what they are up to will we. Its strange that although I have complained no one has got back to me, but it could just be that they are too busy doing other things but not that busy as they always seem to pounce on me quick enough. They probally have a set up similar to the NSA/CIA etc. your name or certain key words flash you up and then they come and stick the boot in.

Monkey , just as an example when I got pulled the other day it took the mods 49 minutes to do so and when I ask them to do anything it takes days. So yes I think your right, they have certain members on a watch list just like a good old fashioned dictatorship. Although its nice to be the centre of attention.

As I posted on the thread, about 10 seconds before it got deleted, what was being proposed is not illegal. I even linked to the appropriate US Code.

I'm having loading problems with images and formatting again. It seems like the same thing that was happening a week or so ago -- it's mostly avatars and buttons, probably what's hosted at cachefly.

Just thought I'd mention it. No biggie.

On the BTS home page the "Leading Topic", "Important Current Topics", and the "Active Topics" featured articles all show a view count of 0.

Ok, first off all, I never believed Blossom Goodchild's claims of a spacecraft making itself public today, check my thread log if you dont believe me.

Part of me wants to say "I told you so!" and slap all the people that believed her story about a spacecraft coming today. But then I realized that a lot of good harted people were fooled today by a trikster that wanted their money. This last post from her here at ATS says it all

...the nerve of that woman.

I went to her website where she sells books and CD's for $20 USD, this is FRAUD and she basically admits it in her last post above.

I say that the people that was fooled for money should gather forces and report her to the police, and that ATS should help them, plain and simple.

The whole phenomenon was basically kept a blaze by the activity in ATS forums where she also posted, I think ATS should take some responsibility here.

How can you hold us accountable for what the members want to discuss? Do you have a link to that post?

I seriously doubt that was really BG. If it was well, we may deal with that.

edit to add: Just as I suspected that was not "the real" BG at all...
