Spitzer deserves compassion. And he deserves punishment. He does not, as you suggest, deserve to be tortured. No one deserves to be tortured.

I never said he deserved to be tortured. Please re-read my comments.

And I'm sorry, but what has he done to deserve our compassion?

And our disgraced Governor would never have had to resort to paying for it and he was no spring chicken! Ah... but alas, it was a Federal wire-tap that did him in as well. It took them twenty years but they got him.

Of course he never shied away from any implication of corruption. As he once famously proclaimed he would lose to David Duke only if they found him in bed with a dead girl or a live boy. Or some reference such as that...Bless his heart.

Good times.

Remember the Hollywood Madam?

Here's wha Heidi Fleiss has to say about Gov. Spitzer.

[Steve Friess] If you were going to advise Gov. Spitzer on what to do now, what would you tell him?

[Heidi Fleiss] Step down from office. And, dude, if you're into hookers, that's fine. But lie to the public? That's not right.

It's a good interview that deserves reading.

I remember that and those were, I believe, his exact words.

Everyone knew he was corrupt, even me, but there was something about him that made people turn a blind eye.

I was living in NM when he was convicted, so I really didn't follow the case, but I've never been so flabbergasted in my life as when I read the news that he was going to prison.

I just never thought he'd ever get convicted.

You remarked about tarring and feathering people. It was a form of torture that represented vengeance.

Either one is compassionate or one is not. Showing compassion has nothing to do with whether a person commits acts that deserve it. You say that Spitzer does not deserve compassion because you are not compassionate towards him.

Anyone could tell that was in jest.

Your last sentence makes no sense.

I did not say he did not deserve compassion because I do not have compassion for him. I say he does not deserve compassion, nor do I have compassion, because he brought these events on himself.

Details about the prostitution connection were not immediately clear. But last week, federal prosecutors in Manhattan filed conspiracy charges against four people, accusing them of running a prostitution ring that charged wealthy clients in Europe and the U.S. thousands of dollars for prostitutes.

The Web site of the Emperors Club VIP displays photographs of the prostitutes' bodies, with their faces hidden, along with hourly rates depending on whether the prostitutes were rated with various numbers of diamonds, with seven diamonds being the highest. The highest-ranked prostitutes cost $5,500 an hour, prosecutors said.

The case is being handled by prosecutors in the Public Corruption unit of U.S. Attorney Michael Garcia's office. Garcia spokeswoman Yusill Scribner said the office had no comment.

www.nydailynews.com...

The web page does not show Kristen, the paper has a photo.

It was an Illuminati run black op to catch government officials but since
Spitzer had run in several in his career he thought this one, the Illuminati one, was safe. Run by insiders.
The goof was a so called bank employee took it upon himself to not ask
the governor about the legal withdrawals but contacted the FBI.
The inside job got him for messing with the Republican party head
in New York State.
He neglected to wonder why he had free ride like a kid in a candy store.

The better to end his career with.

The Illuminati most likely set up the two rings he prosecuted.
A New Jersey International Escort Ring... come on..

A jest, even though "just a jest", still carries with it suggestion.

Again, one either has compassion or one does not.

You said the following:

"You reserve compassion for those who suffer tragedies." "He does not deserve our compassion."

Compassion is not held in reserve. If compassion is held in reserve, how is it compassion?

No one dictates to another when it is desirable or appropriate to show compassion. One has it or one does not. If one is compassionate or is not compassionate it is reflected somehow in what that person says or does towards another person.

No person does something that is deserving of compassion. A person either receives compassion for previous committed acts or the person does not. There is no list of acceptable actions that are deserving or are not deserving of compassion.

The republican party will impeach if Spitzer does not resign: www.app.com.../20080311/NEWS/80311027

This coming from a warmonger party in support of Bush! Its disgusting how Bush/Cheney administration can get away with their demonic atrocities- then conduct a witch hunt on a man for hiring a hooker!

The world is insane.

What about the inside job done on Spitzer.
Will he expose the ring... he probable doesn't even guess.
Too bad. He might still have a chance to exposed the Illuminati-CIA operation.

Yeah, from New Jersey.

Why didn't the bank employee call Spitzer?

Who cares about Spitzer and feeling sorry, get on the ball and
find a conspiracy.

Right, Spitzer thought it was a safe CIA run business.

He probably prosecuted other rings that were CIA run and then
felt safe when given the OK to use this one.

The crimes of one does not absolve the crimes of another. Simply because Bush/Cheney may or may not have committed certain crimes is not carte blanche for Spitzer or anyone else to commit crimes. Nor should we ever ignore crimes and corruption simply because someone else may have violated the law. A suggestion otherwise is nothing more than attempt to protect a corrupt public official through obfuscation and distraction.

Do you actually believe Spitzer should be excused from the crimes he committed and corruption he engaged in?

Why would a guy risk his career if it was not risk free?

CIA run drug rings and now escort services.

I just think the Bank Employee is a ruse if the FBI was already on the
tail of the ring.

A set up par excellence.

We get a whole lot of news but not the real deal.

Well said,

-Just curious if you'd be willing to carry this opinion over into the upcoming FISA/PAA (Retroactive) Telecom Immunity settlement.

Should Spitzer get immunity from prosecution and court litigation or no immunity?

Regards,
S

I don't know if this has been posted yet but this is a link to the 55 page complaint filed in the Southern District court before HONORABLE RONALD L. ELLIS
United States Magistrate Judge:

www.nypost.com...

I think that client #9 is the one who is supposedly the NY Governor.

Also heard on FNC which reported that the NYPost is saying that the Governor has been doing this for over six years and can prove it.

I looked quickly at the NYPost (owned by newscorp) but couldn't find anything mentioning this yet.

This story is getting crazy quick as they say, I never knew that so many people had so much contempt for Spitzer, everyone's piling on this guy.

I don't know about an inside job done on Spitzer? Is it similar to the "9/11 was in inside job" conspiracy?

Thanks, but no thanks. In my experience, such discussions are less about the law, and more about politics, fueled by emotions. I'll probably hold my tongue on that one.

I'm a bit torn on this. On one hand, I think politicians who violate the law/public trust should suffer far harsher penalties than John Q. Public. On the other, perhaps he should be granted in exchange for his testimony.

But at this point, I can't imagine the prosecution will have a use for his testimony.
